Robbins Motel

$ 39 a night. Can’t beat this price nearby BH for a clean motel room. A bit noisy bc close to the main road. Coffee is decent and its affordable pricing allowed me to treat my friends for a nice dinner downtown BH.

After reading many reviews on this motel and a recommendation of one of my colleagues I decided to book Columbus Day weekend here. Upon arrive the facility was dimly lit. Went to check in and was given our room key (Room 9) Opened the door and seen a very tiny dimly lit room (Needed a flash light to help illuminate the room) Tried to turn on a light which didn’t work only to find the reason the fixture didn’t work was the bulb was broken and pieces of the bulb was still in the fixture (Potential Shock Hazard). Unpacked the car, needed to use the bathroom and found an empty water bottle, used soap bar and dirty plastic cup on the floor. My girlfriend went to shut the curtains only to find that half the curtains were bath towels. We went to the front desk to complain and at first the clerk didn’t believe me so I insisted she take a walk over to the room to show her the condition first hand. We walked back and was asked what do you want me to do? I would like another room as it was 9:00 pm and finding another place to stay my be difficult being it was a holiday weekend. I was given a another room (21). This room was bigger, cleaner but still dimly lit. Again tried to turn on a light and the fixture made a sound like it was shorting out (Potential Fire Hazard). Sucked it up because it this point it we were tired and hungry after an 8+ hour drive to Bar Harbor. Went for a late dinner, did try at dinner to get another hotel because we booked through
but everything except high end hotels were booked up. Got back to the room went to sleep. Woke up to a beautiful New England day and off to explore Mt Desert Island and Acadia National park. Only other issues we had was no TV channel guide as I would like to watch local news to see the weather so we could plan our next day, They did offer WIFI but it didn’t work too well only worked about 25% of the time from our room. So If I needed to connect to WIFI I had to go the the office. I also had no Sprint Signal but luckily my phone is able have voice calling over WIFI. Day office staff and cleaning staff was very friendly. We did spend out 3 days here only out of convenience and inability to find another place to stay.

Inexpensive for a great location. Bring extra pillows, your own blankets, and something to make the room smell better. Hard bed but it served its purpose. No refrigerator included in the rooms but they have free ice. Wifi didn’t work too well only worked about 50% of the time. TV remote didn’t work. No dressers to put clothes in but our room had a lot of counter space. We had the room close to the road and the noise didn’t bother us. I think we will be back because of the great price and location.

This place is about great price for getting the essentials — a clean place to rest and a hot shower. Nothing fancy, can be loud being next to hwy 3, and the wall is thin. It works for us and it is, as far as I can see, the cheapest around. The bed is actually rather comfortable for us. We really feel like we got our monies worth.

Pros: Close proximity to Acadia National Park’s Hull Cove Visitor Center. Restroom is more modern than the bedroom.
Cons: Assigned parking, but guest don’t seem to adhere to it. Noisy due to traffic.

Don’t cancel!!! We made reservations here through
in August for a stay in October. About a week later, circumstances changed and we immediately called and cancelled our reservations. The lady on the phone at Robbins Motel was extremely nice and said «Don’t worry about a thing. The reservations are cancelled.» We asked for a confirmation email and she replied «We don’t do that but don’t worry about it, they’re canceled.» Now, we are being charged for «No Show.» They may sound friendly and helpful on the phone but, in this instance, very unscrupulous.
tried to intervene on our behalf but Robbin’s Motel refused to acknowledge our cancellation. Yes, we should have insisted on some sort of confirmation of the cancellation but we were taken in by that syrupy sweetness on the phone. Ughhhh! So frustrated!!!

The Robbins Motel was exactly what we hoped it would be: a clean room and bathroom, and a comfortable bed. That’s it! We stayed there two nights. Never able to connect to the WiFi. the small TV was okay. It was chilly one night, and the small electric heater worked fine. Good location close to Acadia National Park and close to Bar Harbor.

Robbins Motel is, as the review below this one says, great if you know what you’re in for. It is absolutely no frills but it has what is necessary: a clean bed, a clean bathroom/​shower, a parking spot that is yours and only yours!, and even free wifi. It’s very slow, but it’s available. The owners are very nice and do everything themselves. Every day we came back to clean towels and linens. If you’re on a budget and are okay without too many amenities, you will be a-​ok with this place.

Reserved a room here thinking I could suck up the «no frills» to save a decent amount of money. Turns out I need the frills. Or at least a hairdryer. We also were in the room closest to the street and it was really, really loud. It was also about a 15 minute drive from downtown so if you want to swing by your room it’s inconvenient.
The plus side and why I still gave 3 stars is it was very clean and when we decided to switch accommodations, there was no charge. You also can’t beat the price if you’re on a budget.

Cheap and tiny, perfect for last minute planners like us. It’s probably only a 2 star motel, but I enjoyed its quaint ruggedness while we were staying. We planned on camping, but the rain put a damper on things.
The walls were wood paneled and the tiny bathroom was bubble gum pink with black and white tile which I thought was cool. Linen and room were ver clean and smelled good. The people were nice, I would stay if you are a budget traveler like us. Plus it’s right next door to a cool mini golf place.

It’s about 4 stars but you have to understand exactly what you’re getting. Think very basic, clean, and absolutely no frills. I think this is a solid spot if 1) you’re on a really, really tight budget 2) want good service and super clean rooms, and 3) want to be close to Bar Harbor proper and Acadia National Park.
Two of us stayed for several nights during the first weekend of October, so off-​peak season. The motel is right off of Route 3, the main vehicular road, and we could definitely hear the few cars that drove by during the first night. What was worse was hearing the wind hitting the back wall/​window, which was where the head of the bed was placed. The following night wasn’t nearly as bad, because it wasn’t very windy and we got smart and turned the air on to create a white noise effect. Overall, it’s a fine spot but I think that after a day of hard hiking, I might want to come back to a more inviting room if my budget allows.
Besides the noise, the only other bad thing is that although there’s free WiFi, you can’t get it in certain rooms. The male owner told me it’s because those particular rooms are made of metal (?). I really had to get on the Internet a few times, and to do so, I had to sit outside in the cold. During one of those times, he approached me to verify that I was indeed a registered guest. He was pleasant, though, and I recommend this place.

What it’s not: pretty or large. no phone
For a resting spot after activities in Bar Harbor, I thought this was great. I didn’t notice any noise as mentioned by someone else. The caretakers are very diligent. We left after maid service ended one day and they actually stopped us to make sure we’d be ok with that (even though there’s a sign posted in the room to let you know already). Good folks :)

Staying here with my girl during a vacation to Bar Harbor. Sitting in the room right now. The room is about 150 sq. ft., lined inside with plywood, carpeted, with an A/​C, small heater unit, queen-​sized bed, small TV, and a small restroom. If you want a nice hotel with all the amenities and cosmetic touches, then go elsewhere. This hotel is no-​frills, but it’s definitely super-​clean. The bathroom is spotless — they do an incredible job of keeping the rooms here clean. For the price, it’s a great deal.

Very loud! Don’t plan on getting a relaxing peaceful night sleep here. The price is cheap you get what you pay for, this is really just a place to put your stuff while you enjoy the activities in Bay Harbor. If you want some where relaxing go more in land. If you want something cheap this is it!

Back in the 1940’s and 50’s, all throughout the United States, the «motel» began to appear, providing lodging for that most discriminating breed of human, The Tourist. Many of these establishments consisted of one large main house or building, and a variety of small cabins in a surrounding courtyard. These cabins were usually prefabricated structures that hotel owners could order from a catalog. And the Robbins Motel is a fine example of such an inn.
I stayed here on my voyage to Bar Harbor this summer. The main building is in the middle of the grounds, with the cabins forming a connecting arc all around. Both are painted in a calming pale yellow. I was thoroughly impressed with how warm and charming the rooms are. While the establishment may not be the most posh of its kind, it has a character and grace that are welcoming to the soul.
The rooms are on the petite side, with windows set in both the back and front walls, creating a kind of train-​car atmosphere. Golden oak paneling covers the walls, and quaint his-​and-​her closets are in every room, along with all the usual amenities. The bed was comfy as well. Each room gets one assigned parking space.
The wildlife here is pretty tame — and I mean the chipmunks. We left the door open, and one almost walked right into our room. And another time, when I was sitting outside reading, one sniffed my foot and ran off. I was startled, to say the least. But they are rather cute.
Within walking distance lies Bay Gulls Bagels and The Bar Harbor Camping Store (see my reviews), and a pirate themed mini-​golf course isn’t too far away. This family-​run establishment also has perhaps the best prices of anywhere on the island. During peak season, our rooms were $ 58.00 a night. Most of our friends ended up paying four times as much elsewhere. I also like that the motel welcomes artists, writers and other creative types, and examples of their work can be found on the motel’s website. The Robbins Motel is, without a doubt, the only place I will stay when I return to Bar Harbor.
