If you are looking for a great view, delicious, fresh seafood and a fun time, be sure to hit Nick’s. The only negative is that I always get turned around getting there as it is tucked a little on its own, but that’s part of the charm! Last time I was there I had steamed shrimp and the veggie crab soup! Definitely worth a trip!

This place was suggested to us while we were visiting Baltimore and it was pretty good. We started with the lobster and crab dip and it did not disappoint. We the order the Chile lime clams which tasted really good with all the juice left from the sauce. For my dinner I got the crab cakes and deck fries and both were just OK. My fiancé got the steamed pot and he was very satisfied. I’d say we would come again if we visit again

Arrive between 4 and 7 pm to take advantage of the bar specials during the weekdays. Yes — they can only be had in the bar. There is an assortment of $ 5 drinks, which include vodka and pineapple juice, or vodka and cranberry juice, and some beers. We ordered the $ 7 calamari, crab balls, and fish tacos. The fish tacos really stood out. We ordered them twice. Suprisingly, the bar wasn’t packed at happy hour.

Love nicks! I’ve been going to Nicks for about 8 years now. It was one of the first places I went to when I was thinking about moving to Baltimore, and I still always make it a priority when I visit now that I am back in NYC. All of their seafood is always very fresh and they serve large portions. Notables: mussles, oysters, crab dip, crabs(obviously), seafood pasta with cream sauce. This is definitely a local spot. Great deck with lots of seating and a bar right on the water and live music. Lots of TVs on the inside for watching the game and seats near the window that are right on the docks with a great view of the veterans memorial bridge, which is really pretty when it’s lite up at night.

I decided to give Nick’s a try since my dad raves about it. I went there for lunch and I love the fact that it is on the water. However it was too cold and rainy so we opted to sit inside. We started out with Maryland crab soup and cream of crab soup. The Maryland crab was just meh. It wasn’t flavorful and lacked crabmeat. My family enjoyed the cream of crab though. Next we ordered a ½ pound steamed shrimp with potatoes and onions. It was good however it could have been seasoned more with old bay or with the special«Nicks Seasoning». The shrimp were big! My suggestion: Order beer with this or with crabs. IJS Its a Maryland thing. I opted for Angry Orchard. Yummy For our meals my dad had the soft shell crab sandwich which was a nice size. My dad loved it. I tasted it and it was good but I dont think I would order it because it was too crunchy… You’re eating the shell and all… I need more crabmeat! Lol My sis had shrimp and grits and she said it was great. A little spicy but portions were great. I got a broiled crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was really good. Both seasoned well and nice size crab cakes.

Really enjoyed this place. Came recommended by a local. Last day in Baltimore, so I wanted to get some seafood. It a crabcake, raw oysters on the half shell, and steamed shrimp. Really liked it all. I’m not sure why this place has 3 stars. I have it four because it has great parking, awesome atmosphere and seating, delicious food, and wonderful service. When I come back to Baltimore, I’ll probably visit Nick’s again.

The crabs are flowing to the tables. If you are looking to get fat crabs, September and October is the right time for local blue crab. The Natty Boh fish and chips and Orange Crush drink hit the spot.

Sigh — sadly it feels like they are slowly going down hill!!! Crabs are always available which is great, but prices are a bit high. They always seem seriously understaffed so servers are running around trying to get everything done and they aren’t able to pay attention to detail. We usually sit and wait about 5 minutes after our beers are empty for wait staff to get called over before a new drink is ordered. I always get chips with my crabs(they make homemade chips which are yummy but much cheaper to make then offering UTZ). They charge $ 3 for a small pot of chips withOUT refills available. $ 3 in potatoes, especially at wholesale prices, would make a LOT of chips. I think free refills is appropriate, or at least a larger basket worth of them. Last time we ate at Nicks, my boyfriend had the crab balls and got violently ill(even the server asked if he had the crab balls or if I had eaten them — it was like he knew they weren’t good quality). Shrimp by the half pound and pound are excellent. I love how they cook them with onion and potatoes — the way it should be done. Outdoor seating is awesome, but usually hard to get a table(30 – 45 minute wait regularly). Then if you go to the outside bar to get a drink while you wait it is almost impossible to get to the bar since the chairs are so large and there are a ton of people hanging out and eating there. Seems like the bars usually only have 1 bartender which makes it even more difficult to get their attention and just get a beer! Also, what happened to the fried pickles and the wraps???

When I checked into the Baltimore Monaco I asked where I could try some Blue Crab since I have never eaten it before. They pointed me down to Nicks and I’m glad they did. It is quite a massive space with plenty of outside seating and a big indoor area too, it is nice to have that option when humidity is unbearable. I decided to sit outside and the views were just ok… honestly it’s nice being on any body of water. Of course I ordered the Blue Crab sine I have always heard so much about it, but have never tried it. I told my server Erin this and we assured me that it wasn’t too difficult and she would show me. The crab came out and you could see it all lathered up with the Old Bay Seasoning. Yum!!! Erin gave me a quick lesson and deconstructed one of the little fellas and then I was off. They were delicious! I did start with the House Salad and it is massive… definitely enough for 2 people to share. Nick“s is a great really chill place with Happy Hour form 4 to 7 at the bar. I will definitely return on my next visit.

Family came out to Baltimore for a visit during our road-trip to the east coast. The city is very lovely and Nicks Fish House definitely captures that«Cap Cod» Maryland-type feel. The Crab Cakes were buttery, crispy and tasted so yummy! I couldn’t stop eating them! You come for the food, but you’ll stay for the atmosphere. I loved the look of this place. The deck outside will make you want to stay, drink some beer with friends and just enjoy the scenery. I will definitely come back to Nicks Fish House when I revisit Baltimore!

In the middle of no where, and not easy to find if your are new to the area. You come here for the view of the water, watch the games in the 10+ Large Screen TVs, and drink. Food is OK, and my Seafood Cobb Salad was actually very good. If you are outside in the summer, like any other place, you need to bring bug spray on you before sitting down. Friendly folks working here, but it took a long time to get our food and get our bill. They forgot several things along the way, so don’t expect to get out here very fast. However, if you have the time, great sunset place close enough to inner harbor and downtown.

The ambiance of this place is great! It’s down on the water and away from the main stream of Baltimore downtown life. The drink prices, especially during happy hour, are really quite good. The appetizers are really good too. I got the crab balls the last time I was there, and have previously gotten calamari and fish tacos. All of those items were delicious with a good drink. The live bands make it really loud outside, but the bands are always good. Definitely a fun place for happy hour.

I thought this place was good, but not fantastic. The waterside view outside(if you can take the heat) or inside from the window is gorgeous. Crab cakes were good. In my opinion, the shrimp and grits were even better. The Bloody Marys(reportedly famous) were great, but I’ve had so many great Bloody’s around this area, that I need a more compelling reason to choose this place over other comparable seafood venues. To summarize: I’ll be back. It was definitely good, but next time I’m hoping for a more memorable experience.

This is a great spot on the water for anyone looking for solid local seafood and other bar foods and decent prices. I definitely recommend checking out the happy hour specials, though come early as it can get crowded on nice days. They have a huge outdoor bar/dock area for enjoying steamed crabs, drinks, and great weather with live music frequently. My recommendation is to come on a Thursday night for the fish tacos and a couple ice cold beverages. If you are still hungry grab the crab balls and maybe a few steamed crabs to go with them. They will not do you wrong.

Bottom Line: Ok views, good food, great service but a tad pricey for a sea shanty. Nick’s Fish House earns a solid 3.5 stars but this isn’t Star Search, its Unilocal and Unilocal does not allow for half stars. So, in honor of a small business, I am rounding up to four stars. My take away from the other Unilocal reviews is that many people go to Nick’s for happy hour or the crab deck. I went for a Sunday Funday lunch with the beau and found Nick’s to be a nice experience overall. Here are some of the highlights and lowlights: –We avoided the windy deck and sat inside. Originally we sat at a totally rump sprung booth. I seriously thought a sprung spring might take me to fifth base. Luckily our waiter immediately noticed the discomfort. In fact, before he even arrived at the table he asked if we wanted to be reseated. –Our next table was by the window with a view of the water and Vietnam Memorial Bridge but it’s not the most glamorous view, to say the least. –We started with the crab pretzel. A new-ish item to the menu. At $ 16 it was pricey but very good! I’m just not sure it was worth $ 16. –Speaking of new-ish to Nick’s, apparently the ownership is also new as of early 2015. I don’t know if this is a change for the worse or change for the better since this was my first trip to Nick’s. –BF had the Shrimp and Grits which were amazing. Just looking at the grits I could tell it was going to be awesome flavor. I had the shrimp salad sandwich which was also very good with big chunks of shrimp(almost whole shrimp). –Our waiter John was awesome! He was friendly, warm, normal, and attentive. You know, all those things you want in a tall, dark and handsome waiter. –The interior of the restaurant has very cute décor; however, I do think it needs a little love(and not the kind you get from a rump sprung booth).

Meh Nick’s was just ok and I would give it 2.5 stars. For drinks and lunch, our bill for 6 people was around $ 150 which was on the pricier side. The service was slow and food did not really impress. The drinks were fairly pricey for Baltimore and the food was mediocre. We sat upstairs so it was a decent view and atmosphere since it ended up being a beautiful day. I got the crab cake on my goat cheese and walnut salad. It was average so the price was too high in my opinion. Everyone else thought their meal was decent but no one thought it was great. My husband’s crab grilled cheese was probably the best dish. Overall, maybe I would go back for crabs but Nick’s isn’t somewhere I’m interested in returning to.

Would have never found this place on my own. Was invited here for a work function and I assumed they meant cross st when they said Nick’s. The place is on the water and has a great outside seating area. Good selection of the usual seafood favorites. Is a great place to have happy hour.

I’m still here and I’m reviewing. That’s always a bad sign. Happy hour specials are only available in the bar. This sucks because the bar is full(well half full, smaller parties and their coats are taking up huge tables. Rude.). Also, service is scant and there are waitresses standing around waiting to serve the empty dining room. They got rid of sushi roll Fridays and there’s no draft beer. I’m not feeling this change of ownership at all, looks like I’ll be trying to find a new local seafood haunt.

Nick’s Fish House can be difficult to spot. It’s tucked away under the Hanover bridge. It’s not a must try place. The food is average, but there are decent happy hour specials, and a good view of the bay.

Stopped by on a whim, remembered that someone said it was a good restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere casual and lively. I got a mahi mahi tacos with a very tasty salsa. A friend got the pork chops will grilled brussel sprouts covered with a reduction cider sauce that made them pop. Beautiful view of the water at the Hanover street bridge.
