Windsor At Barton Creek

If zero was an option, this place would get a zero. From the time I move in to the current date (I’m still living here) I have had nothing but problems. Starting with the fact that they lied about the flooring and instead of wood, we had nasty old carpet that looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned in years. We were shown a different unit and told ours would be the same… not the case though. The carpet comes complete with what appears to be dog poop and urine stains as well as dog hair caked into the corners. I ran my own vacuum after noticing the hairs and had to empty 3 FULL containers of dirt and hair. The apartment had CLEARLY not been cleaned. When asking the manager, Courtney, about this, she didn’t really seem to care and only offered $ 75 off our rent or for the same company to come in and clean it again. Having it cleaned again didn’t seem wise as they did such a horrible job the first time and the fact that we were trying to move in and unpack boxes made it too difficult. We decided to take the measly money off the rent since she REFUSED to discuss it any further and stated that «we try to inspect each unit before the new resident moves in but I was away that week so the other girl was by herself and was very busy».Way to be professional and makes excuses for yourself… excellent management skills. I spent more than $ 75 just on cleaning products to do the work myself, not to mention the time and energy it took; not exactly the activities I planned to enjoy when moving from across the country to enjoy the new area. I could write pages and pages of all the numerous problems and piss-​poor interactions with Courtney, but instead let me just list a few. Nasty carpet, no cleaning, the fake wood-​looking laminate in kitchen and entry peeling up off the floor as you walk, a cracking deck that leans so much you feel like you’re going to fall off, and a railing that REALLY means you might because it was not secured to the wall. The deck and railing was a huge issue because I have a 7 year old and a small
they have both been banned from enjoying the deck for fear of it’s poor condition and fact that we are on the third floor. Also because of the uneven deck, my front loading washer is broken and requires expensive fixes because the severely uneven deck made it shake and rattle out of alignment. Their fix to this was to place a piece of wood under the front which did not help and the washer just rattled right off of that too. Now for the most disgusting part of all, the apartment is RAT INFESTED. I wanted to make sure and capitalize that so that anyone doing a quick read through could be sure and make note of this problem. The rats (many many many rats) have made my and my families lives HELL. We literally have to chase them out of the kitchen and then go through the pantry and throw away anything they chewed through so that no one gets sick. They also eat the dogs food and my dog became very ill. I cannot be certain if that is why but my dog has never puked before and after the rats started eating his food he began vomiting bile and was lethargic for several days. We now have a process where we place his bowl down during the day and must lock it up every night to prevent them from contaminating his bowl with whatever nasty diseases they may be carrying. I pick up rat poop and have to disinfect my kitchen on a daily basis. I work 12 hour shifts and my son is in school, so this isn’t really convenient or easy to keep up with. After several complaints and failed attempts to prevent them from coming in, they finally involved pest control. Pest control placed down glue traps… for those who have never dealt with a glue trap, just save yourself and don’t bother. It was inhumane, disgusting, and left us to deal with the live screaming rats. They cry out in pain and try to gnaw their way off the traps. My seven year old cried and screamed at the sites and sounds of struggling rats, who then had to be killed by my partner because otherwise the pest control would throw them away while still alive and struggling on the traps. So the latest and greatest activity my family has had to endure is me consoling my child while my partner places the rats out of their misery; all while listening to their high pitched screams. My son was so disturbed by this that he wanted to give them a proper burial. I explained that due to infection control and them being stuck on the glue that we could not do this. So he wrote a heart-​wrenching letter addressed to the rats apologizing for us having to get rid of them and placed the letter in the kitchen where the trap had been. So far, we have had to dispose of SEVEN rats. We made Courtney aware of the amount of rats and that the glue traps were too disturbing. Her response was to send pest control back to remove all the traps. I’m not sure what that solved because now we are right back at the beginning with chasing them out of the kitchen. I’m out of writing room now so let me just say, DO NOT MOVE HERE!

I lived here from 2008 – 2011. The management was great, really quick to respond to questions, requests etc.

I LOVE my new apartment. I have lived at a few other communities that advertise a lot and are more well known. The Windsor is kind of this hidden gem. I actually learned about it from another resident long ago. It’s a smaller community hidden up in the trees on Bee Caves– the location is fantastic. I have a downtown view, can get to work downtown in under 10 minutes, can walk to Zilker, and don’t have the problems with event parking like some of the other apts on the other side of Mopac. Plus this is in the Eanes school district.
I have lived at some other apts in this area and they are either overpriced or small and outdated. This apt is HUGE in comparison, without icky cheap apt carpet, has stainless appliances, good closet storage, at a great price, a really nice pool area, lots of trees, etc. Plus the gals, Emily ad Nelita, in the office are wonderful– they bend over backward to accommodate. And the service team of Lulu and Leo are very thorough and address all my concerns. Love it here!
