The Soccer Post

Beware of shoe sales at this store. We have been loyal customers for several years, easily spending thousands of dollars on shoes, jerseys, and such. Both of my boys received gift cards to this store last year per their request. E trusted these guys!
Last week, my son and wife went to buy new cleats. He has worn 11.5 for almost two years. The «knowledgeable» soccer guy said they didn’t have 11.5 or even size 11. He asked my son to try size 10.5. His toes were visible under the leather. The sales guy told them the leather would stretch and that these shoes should fit tightly.
He wore them in a game and I immediately noticed that he kept kicking his heels in the dirt, as if they were too small.
After the game, I checked them. These shoes were more than tight. On his left foot, there is NO room between his toe and the end of the shoe. No respectable soccer store should let a customer out of the door with such poorly fitting shoes. My wife questioned it several times. The sales guy confidently talked them into the purchase.
After his game, We went back to the store and were told to come back when then owner was present. We went back again and the owner basically told us that we chose to buy them and nobody forced us to do so. We did feel like we should be able to trust these «knowledgeable» soccer guys at least a little bit.
So, I have a $ 300 pair shoes that don’t fit my kid. I also have my Loyal Customer badge ready to wear in another store.

I drove to Academy first and was so saddened by the selection and availability of my size. I drove into The Soccer Post and the gentleman working greeted me and helped me find the right cleats and got me setup with shorts, socks and gaurds. He brought me 3 pairs of cleats, and of course I went with the leather ones. I wouldn’t say selection is amazing, but he did find what I wanted. You’ll probably pay a little more on the little things, but I looked up the cleats online after I left and they were the same price. I will return to this store in the future.

The one stop shopping for all things soccer. But you already knew that.

Small selection, expensive and poor customer service. Visited for my first time yesterday and left with a bad taste in my mouth. The store was empty when I walked in. No customers or employees on the floor. 10 minutes later a guy comes out and says nothing to me except that he didn’t hear me come in. I asked him if they did custom name/​numbers on jerseys. He said yes. I asked about putting a name/​number on a new jersey I had just bough. He simply said no. I asked him why and he said only said no, we won’t do that. I had to ask 10+ questions to get it out of him that he wouldn’t do it because I didn’t buy the jersey there. I looked at a few and they were all full MSRP. The guy was super rude and said nothing else to me until I left. I’m never going back.

I just had the same experience as Kenny J. Over the years I’ve bought many pairs of cleats, jerseys, and various other items from Soccer Post for my two boys (13 and 15). But I’ve never had to return anything so I wasn’t aware of this ridiculous policy.
This weekend I put down $ 225 on a pair of Hyper Venoms for my 13 year old. I told him to take a ball into the backyard and make sure there isn’t any discomfort. It’s virtually impossible to get that feel from walking around on a carpet.
After about 5 minutes he realized that there was some discomfort. He decided he wanted to take them back and get another pair of Tiempos which he’s always had good experience with (BTW, his last two pair of $ 200+ Tiempos were bought at SoccerPost).
Knowing then what I know now I would have taken a wet cloth and wiped the small amounts of dirt off the sole plate. No one would’ve been the wiser. But I didn’t, and as a result I was told that I can’t exchange them. «We have to resell these. Would you buy them like this?», they said. «Yes», I said. «It will only take a few minutes to wipe off the sole plate. I’ll even do it myself if you want.», I continued.
Alas, I was told that it was store policy. Of the 3 people that were working there none of them had the willingness and/​or authority to help me. One of them told me I could contact the owner of the store and he might work something out.
First of all, why is the burden on me to go out of my way to «beg» for an exchange because of a ridiculous policy? Second, should my son have to play with a pair of cleats too small for him until I can carve out a convenient time to get back to SoccerPost (likely not until the following weekend)? Thirdly, the posts online suggest that I wouldn’t have had any luck with the owner either.
The shame of it is I like the guy who owns the place. He’s been helpful and polite every time he’s been there while I was shopping. Unfortunately his employees are not so helpful. Maybe he would have allowed the exchange, maybe he wouldn’t have. It’s too late to know now because my son had a game yesterday and he needed to wear something that fit. I guess he’ll just have to wear mole skin for the rest of the season.
On principle I will not be taking my business to SoccerPost any longer. That’s probably close to $ 1500 in lost business over the next two years if you consider two more pairs of cleats for each of my boys, two more jerseys for each of them, a few hoodies, shin pads, etc. I will also be letting my kids’ teammates’ parents know to beware of this ridiculous policy. That will likely result in some additional lost business.
My advise to the owner is to change the policy. It’s a small price to pay for customer satisfaction. As long as there is no damage or scuffing done to the upper or the sole plate, give your customers the opportunity to get a feel for the shoe on a natural surface. It’s not that difficult or expensive to wipe off a little dirt. Keep some cleaning supplies handy and train your employees how to do it.

Pretty good soccer/​football store off Burnet. I wish they had more t-​shirts and caps, but it’s good to be able to find any EPL (BPL?) stuff in Texas.
I would gladly buy myslef a Chelsea cap and t-​shirt, if they had them. They don’t. But they do have lots of jerseys (a bigger profit margin item, I’m sure) and cleats and whatnot. Got some Arsenal stuff (winter hat and scarf) for my little bro here, and it was reasonably priced.
You can get most of this stuff online, but shipping can get pricey, so it’s nice to have a store selling some of it.

You’d hope that by shopping at a local store instead of a big box retailer you’d get something for supporting local and paying increased prices. Unfortunately at Soccer Post the employees are helpful but the management has absurd return policies which prohibit you from returning items that have been worn at all. When confronted with the opportunity to do the right thing and keep a long-​term customer the owner himself declined. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Love the Soccer Post. The are friendly, attentive and have exactly what you need. I won’t shop for soccer equipment anywhere else!

Not many soccer retailers around and this one is the best one I’ve found in North Austin.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Plenty of selection for equipment.
This is my go to place for soccer equipment.

I play a lot of soccer and always need more equipment and jerseys. I go to Europe a lot and find the prices in the UK a lot cheaper than the US but the only place in Austin I find reasonable and has the biggest choice is The Soccer Post.
They have a wide range on equipment, cleats and clothing and their prices are cheap compared with the other soccer stores in town.
The staff are very helpful and can always recommend things if you’re not sure what you’re looking for.
Even if you don’t live locally in town, it’s worth the drive as they will always save you money in the long run!

As a soccer mom to four kids, I have to know where I can get the best soccer
stuff, fast. Most of the times when I go in, the owner is there to help me
with the best advice and I know it’s tricky to balance making a sale and
giving the best advice on items that sometimes are subjective. It’s a
great place to go for soccer stuff.

Over the past 5 years I have ordered 4 sets of jerseys for my men’s soccer team.
Chris has always been courteous, responsive and extremely profession in every interaction.
I would 100% recommend him to ANY sport organization in ATX.

Love this store! Both of my kids play soccer so we go here for all of our soccer needs. The staff is friendly, always helpful and super engaging with the kids. They never let my kids leave with ill-​fitting shoes or gear (which I love) and they let the kids literally kick soccer balls around with the shoes on to make sure they fit/​feel right. My husband even gets some of his running clothes from here. The prices are good and if you sign up for their email — you get great monthly deals too!

Very helpful staff! You’ll find everything you need here. I could probably find everything I need at Academy which I live right by etc… but the main reason I go here is because there are qualified people to help me. So, I will take the drive. People are very nice. It’s a little pricey but hey they don’t buy in bulk like the big guys. I am willing to pay the extra. Easy parking too.

I’ve been to this store twice. Both times, IMO, the staff was somewhat rude. Neither time were we greeted, let alone even acknowledged. I understand giving customers space and letting people shop on their own. I can appreciate that approach. However, this felt more like not giving a darn about customers. More like it was more of a hassle to have to deal with someone. It’s one thing if it happens once. People have bad days. However, it happened on both visits. Makes me not interested in returning for a third.
I hope our experiences are isolated. There aren’t many soccer shops in town. It would be great if the few we do have were nice and friendly.
