Lane Four Swim Shop

I feel like a rat in a psychological study:
This store has what you want… but you have to bear the angry cashier to get it.
Please tell the cashier with glasses that it is ONLY swimwear and she is not a jail warden.
.After two visits, I’ll sadly order online from now on for this reason.

It’s just a great swim shop. Not many shops totally dedicated to swimming and they usually have exactly what I want at a decent price. They often run a little low on the goggles I want but the help is good and the prices fair.

Its too bad that this is the only swim shop in Austin.
Their policy is if it gets wet, we can’t take it back. How are we supposed to know how it feels if we don’t try it? I have a new pair of fins aren’t being used because of this.
The high school kids have more knowledge than the adult staff. The staff seems to hover around you. Sure, I am going to sneak out of the front door with whatever I am looking at.
Inventory is always lacking. If they don’t have it, they may have it in their other store and will call you when they bring it to the store which means another trip there.
Prices are different on the website than in store.

Always love going in for whatever we need. Staff is helpful and selection is extensive.

My dad was looking for a very specific snorkel (Finis) and could not not find it in other stores. We went to Academy and to Dick’s with not luck. Called a local store and they recommended Lane 4.
Went to the store and the staff was nice and helpful. We not only did find the snorkel he was looking for, but walked away with additional equipment that he had in mind but had forgotten about.
All in all a great experience.

My swim instructor recommended Lane Four to the class for aquatic dumbbells. Store was well stocked with a large variety of water suits, trunks, and accessories. The lady working was really friendly and helpful, wasn’t pushy at all when I entered, after looking at several versions, I inquired which one was best based on my instructor’s suggestions.
I will definitely be coming back here! The men’s swim wear were about the same prices as Academy or another sports store. I would give these guys the business over the chain stores in the future.

Very nice lady! Stayed open late for me and everything. Limited selection on 2 piece sport swimsuits in my size but they are ordering more. I ended up getting a boys bottom and sport bra type top on sale! Love them!

I always love finding a local business to support and after my experience at Lane Four Swim Shop, I couldn’t be happier.
I swim laps regularly and needed a new suit. It can be hard to find decent athletic swim suits (meaning not for leisure swimming) as most places are hit and miss on selection. Lane Four is perfect. They have an extensive selection of not only suits, but anything else you can think of for swimming.
I walked in and started looking through the suits, and after a few minutes was asked if I needed any help. I didn’t as I knew what I was looking for, grabbed a handful of suits and hit the dressing room. Some of the brands are a size small, but that’s why it’s great to have a place like this to try suits on. I ended up getting super lucky as they had several sales racks and my favorite suit was about half off!
I checked over the swim cap selection and was excited to find quite a variety. I found a pretty silly cap that I was glad to pay a little extra for as I had never seen one like it before.
All in all, I am so glad I found this place as I will definitely be a regular customer. It’s awesome how busy they are, there was a constant flow of people while I was there. It seemed to me the people made sure each and every customer got the help they needed and I definitely left satisfied with my purchases.

Bought $ 120 worth of gear from them for circle c seals summer team. Sons swim suit is fraying after first practice. They said sorry kid don’t sit on the deck. Well it’s fraying in the front??? Terrible service and don’t back the products they sell. Use them to find what you need then buy it on amazon for less with a better return policy. Local business need to be better than this.

I walked in and was almost immediately assisted by a staff member, who walked me through their selection on the three items I wanted (goggles, fins, swim suit) and helped me try some on. I was out in less than half an hour, completely satisfied except for a slightly lighter wallet.

Poor customer service with an attitude. I’d give it a single star but they really do have a huge selection of swimming crap in there. So if you know what you’re looking for and don’t need any kind of explanation or help from anyone, then yeah, you should go there. Otherwise, I’d try somewhere else or shop online.

The only thing that stinks… Their hours! They close at 6 weekday sand 5 on Saturday, closed Sundays. If you work 8 – 5 it’s a real pain the butt to try and spend your money at their store (unless you go out of your way Saturday). Being open till 7 would be so helpful!

Before taking a swimming class, I wasted a lot of time at general sports stores like Academy and REI looking for swim gear. I should’ve just gone to Lane Four first.
They have an extensive selection of anything you need for swimming: dozens of swim goggle brands for women, men, etc…, swim caps, swimsuits, kickboards, anything.
To help you choose the best product among all the choices are helpful employees who patiently open packages for you to try stuff on and answer questions. The prices are noticeably higher than Internet prices but getting the right fit on first purchase may be worth it. The higher prices are the reason I deducted a star.
Lane Four is located in the huge shopping center on the Southwest corner of 183 and Burnet Rd.

If you like to waste time in line and waiting on service you will be sure to like this store! I sent off for 2 suits for my daughter’s team and it is taking longer than promised. Plus they don’t have exact tracking info on the suits.
Everytime I have been here the lines have been way too long as well. There is usually a single cashier, several customers and a handful of employees not helping customers. The owner should go to a store like Dick’s to see what service should be like.
People in Paris France, a place not known for service, might find this place acceptable.

Yesterday, I returned to Lane Four to purchase a new Speedo. My others were well worn out after significant usage. I know EXACTLY what I like and when the staff asked me what I was looking for, I gave them a full description of size, colors, style, and brand. Once again, they collected ALL the options in the store and CHECKED their storage stock for me to try on. I left with the PERFECT suit, a new swim cap, and a waterproof i-​shuffle case all of which I tried out this Easter morning. I am delighted with my purchases! THANK YOU LANE FOUR SWIM SHOP!

I went to Lane Four the other day and left with TONS of new swim gear. I’m so excited to wear all my new suits and use my new cap and goggles. I’m fairly new to swimming so I wasn’t sure what kind of goggles I needed to get. The staff there was extremely helpful and gave me a personalized tour in the goggle section of the store. They were all really friendly and encouraged me to try things on to make sure I get something that fits right and is comfortable.
They also gave me a lot of really great tips, so I will definitely be back for some training equipment. :) :)

I walked out and said the words «I won’t be back there EVER again» out loud. That’s when you know it is bad. Being new to swim I expected a specialty shop to cater to what they specialize in, and share their wealth of knowledge. Nope!
First off, no one acknowledged my presence when I walked in. I’m kinda a big deal, and I understand if not everyone knows me… but a smile and a simple hello would of worked. I looked around hoping someone would ask me if I needed help, which I did. I finally figured I would need to figure it out on my own.
I tried, there are no signs other than sale signs. Not even a men’s or women’s sign to point me in the right direction. Much less a tri-​suit sign that I was so obviously looking for.
I finally walked up to the counter where 2 people were working. One was helping another customer, the other was sitting on top of the counter reading. I’m not sure what it was she was reading, but it was not «Customer Service 101» or «How to Make Someone’s Day.» I asked if they carried tri suits and she said no, it’s not Tri season yet. Wow… make me feel like a dummy.
I’m out! Just like I said when I walked out, I’ll never go back. Good luck guys.

This place has a GREAT selection of stuff. Great. But the service PAINED me greatly. I was in there trying on suits and looking around for longer than I wanted to be… and not once did someone greet me, or say a single word along the lines of, «can I help you». Perhaps a «how you doin’ today»? Nope. Nada. The place is tiny, there are 3 people working in there. I found a suit I wanted to buy, and then headed back to where all the goggle were — was trying on various pairs of said goggles, and one of the women in there unpacking all the boxes started to take my suit. I’m like, «um, that’s mine». Where the F do you think that it came from? I was standing not two feet away from the suit… and she was going to take it (I’m upset because it took me like 40 minutes to finally decide on a suit). She barely apologized, and then went back to what she was doing. No «can I help you find anything» from her either. The kids working up front were talking about what they found doing a Google search that had nothing to do with swimming… so I put the suit back on the rack (which the service person immediately reorganized) and I walked out the door. I would have bought over $ 100 worth of stuff… but alas, no way. I called down to Austin Tricyclist, they said they had the same suit. I drove all the way down South and bought it. The cool thing is that it was only $ 70 instead of $ 100. Even better. I found the goggle on Amazon, ordered those… and now I’m all set. I would have been a lot happier supporting a local store, but after spending COUNTLESS hours working in service cannot accept being treated in such a manor. Disappointing at best.

I just had the most positive experience here. The staff was so super friendly and helpful, especially Sarah. I was in there looking for it all… kickboards, pull buoys, fins, etc. She took her time with me and explained the different between each item and didn’t try and upsell me or anything. She just gave me the information and let me make my own decisions.
I never have to go anywhere else to buy anything swim related again. I’m so happy to have found Lane 4!

Complete one stop shop for recreational, team, lap, and competitive swimmers.
They’ve got swimsuits up the wazoo when it comes to one pieces, 2 pieces, tri swimsuits, tri top/​bottom combos, and even those fast skin suits that you’ve seen Phelps and other competitive swimmers wear in the Olympic games. Prices are reasonable. New stuff is usually retail price, but there are always 2 – 3 racks full of quality swimsuits on sale for $ 37.00 or less.
This place isn’t just suits. The have hand paddles for all sizes, fins that are long, medium, and short in length, pull buoys in fun colors, and even breathing machines to help make your lungs stronger?! While I did not partake in purchasing a lung exerciser, there wasn’t one thing I could think of that they didn’t have.
My favorite purchases so far have been my trusty mesh swim bag to lug around all my swim stuff and those swimmer’s ear drops. Lifesaver to those many times I’m left hopping up and down trying to rid my ears of trapped water!
The only problem with this place is deciding which suit to get when my current suit has reached that embarrassing droopy, beyond threadbare status. Which color to pick this time around? hot pink, green, sea blue, or fiery orange? Decisions, decisions…
