Our founder Jon Paulsen, MS, CPE started the business in 2002 when, as an Ergonomics Engineer, he saw many people buying ergonomic products without understanding how they were helping from an ergonomics perspective. In the beginning Jon was a one man e-commerce store. He knew ergonomics but had no idea how to run a business except for a desire to offer exceptional customer service and expert advice. Business Owner

Jon Paulsen received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1993. He also received his Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Ergonomics from the same University in 1996.

As a Mechanical Engineer for Albertsons, he helped optimize material handling processes and reduced ergonomic risk in large scale distribution center operations. Later he worked as an Ergonomic Consultant within various industries including manufacturing, warehouse, mining, and refinery operations. He joined Applied Materials in 1997 and directed a team of ergonomists as managing ergonomist in the Industrial Engineering department for eight years and owned all Cleanroom Manufacturing in the Volume Manufacturing and Assembly Line Operations. Most recently he is President and Lead Ergonomist for Square Grove LLC (dba Human Solution and Ergonomic Chair Pro).

I saw a couple Ad’s on Facebook which initially got me interested in this desk a couple of month ago.
I love my new work station and I use it just like I thought I would. The only issue I had which was quickly resolved was that I ordered Black and I got white. I contacted their customer service and Nick was really quick about offering me a solution that I was happy with.
1. The C-Frame is very sturdy, I don’t know what the other frame was like but I didn’t want to take any chances.
2. Somewhere online it says assembly is 2 hours? It took me about 40 minutes.

Excellent selection of products for a variety of physical ailments caused by clumsy office furniture.
I bough a vertical mouse as a birthday present for a friend. She says it has relieved some of her pain and that everyone in her office was asking about it.
After trying it out, I decided to get one for myself, as well.

In our search for a sit/stand desk, I came across this company. Since I’m impatient (according to my husband), we thought a drive to Austin would be nice. And their customer service said they had models in the store that one could purchase. After arriving, I picked out the desk I wanted.. They honored a coupon and the free mat from their online site. Service was good and we were in and out within 20 min.

I bought a UpLift desk with treadmill from them. I LOVE My Desk. The treadmill works fine. They sell an under the desk wire management system that they give NO Instructions with nor demonstration on ~ how to install it. They just kinda said ~ ‘live with this for awhile’! …? I still haven’t installed it and I purchased this ⁷⁄₁₄. I feel that they Could Do Better on at least doing a video on how They installed it! Other than that gripe ~ I found them helpful and accommodating with delivery and install.

Seven years later when I need a part replace, The Human Solution was really great at providing customer support so that I could get my chair fixed. Ordered a desk from here, the quality is good and it works as advertised. I would say there are only two complaints I have.
First, I concur with many others that their shipping policy doesn’t match up with what I read when I placed the order. They claimed it would ship within 48 hours, well, it shipped over a week later and they never really communicated that well.
The other issue is, I ordered 3 out of 3 of the possible power outlet add-on options on the desk. Let’s face it, a computer desk that doesn’t have outlets is kind of pointless these days. So that was 6 (2 in each hole) power outlets on back of the desk! I thought awesome! Well, they’re all individually cabled. So you still have to literally plug in 6 power cables for them to work, they’re nothing more than extension chords crammed into 3 holes in your desk (and they don’t even fit well, I had to bore out two holes further for them to seat properly. I would have skipped these if I had known and just mounted my own strip! So yeah, now I have 6 power cables hanging down from my desk to my floor for the extra $$ I spent. No pictures or anything could have prepared me for that, pretty misleading IMO.

I bought an Uplift desk from these guys and I love it! I went to the showroom to check out some options before purchasing and found out they sell scratch and dents so I went that route. I don’t see any scratches at all. The desk is amazing! They came out and installed it. Great communication the whole time. Thanks much!

I purchased a Steelcase Leap through these guys. It was a special order (color and fabric selection) and I received it 6 days after they placed the order. That’s fast! And I love the chair.
The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. No sales pressure, even when I told them I had to go home first and look at my office again before choosing a color. I appreciated that.
When I came back to make the purchase, i was just about to ask for the Unilocal discount (the one where you have to post on social media first) when they just offered me the same discount without the hoop jumping. Thanks! I much prefer to leave a review like this on my own terms.
My only complaint is that they seemed understaffed at the time. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and I think there were only two sales associates and probably 7 – 8 customers waiting for help. And it was hard to tell who was a customer and who was staff. A quick «we’ll be with you as soon as we can» would clear up that confusion and prevent the awkward «do you work here?» encounters with other customers. I’m not going to ding them for that though, because maybe that’s unusual and when they did get to me, they were great.

I recently purchased an Uplift desk from The Human Solution. My experience with them was very positive. Most of my dealings were with Dan. There was an initial issue with applying the $ 50 Unilocal deal but Dan quickly took care of that. The process of ordering the desk and getting it delivered was very smooth. Dan went over all the options with me and confirmed my order before placing it. The desk was received in good order, with no damage. The desk was pretty straightforward to put together, maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I ordered the bamboo «dent and scratch» desk, keyboard tray, surge protector and the memorized keypad. My only complaint is the holes for the keyboard tray weren’t pre-drilled. Something like that is a challenge for a sad excuse of a handyman like myself. I haven’t tackled that part yet. In the absence of pre-drilled holes, a template would’ve been nice. I would definitely recommend The Human Solution to those looking for a standup desk. I’ve been using it for a few days now and like the difference of moving between standing and sitting. And the memorized keypad is absolutely helpful. No remembering the sitting/standing height, and with 4 options I can set the same up for my wife. Thanks.

I was injured in an accident and needed an adjustable height desk to sit and stand at. I fell in love with the Humanscale Float desk at another store but wasn’t impressed with the cheap pressboard desktop. Then I found The Human Solution store online and was excited about the additional desktop options.
Maybe I’ve shopped online too much, but I placed my order on 5/31, my credit card was charged on 6/4, and expected to receive some kind of response acknowledging the item has shipped/is in process/etc. I still have no desk or expected ship date information. For all I know, they just stole $ 2,800 from me.
I’m not a high maintenance customer, but when I order something online and my credit card gets charged, I expect a product or service in return. If there’s delays or issues, I expect to be contacted. I shouldn’t have to contact the company to ask where my purchase is or call my credit card company to report possible fraud.
Do yourself a favor and order elsewhere.

I absolutely love The Human Solution, and Ryan Osborne is just the best. All twelve of our engineers havs UpLift stand up desks mobile pedistals and everyone raves about them. Recently I was asked to purchase three additional desks and through the process my boss changed his mind everytime Ryan sent us a quote. Poor Ryan probably revised our quote half a dozen times before we placed the order. Our office is located in Boulder, Colorado so the desks are sent to us via freight and everytime we’ve worked with Ryan, we’ve been offered free shipping, but that may be a benefit of ordering so much in the past.
Is the UpLift desk a little pricey? Sure, but when you receive it and realize how great they look and how functional they are, you quickly forget what you spent because you paid for quality and that’s what you received.

Such a friendly place! Jonathan was certainly helpful to use as we were finding a new office chair for my boyfriend. He was knowledgeable and gave his honest opinion. I recommend coming here if you need advice on a new chair or desk.

Top notch operation with quality hardware and service!
After a great deal of research on standing desks I found The Human Solution. Of all the reviews and discussions about standing desks, these folks seemed to be everywhere (with positive reviews on a number of sites and great picture tutorials).
So I needed to get one of the more expensive desk models, and started a dialogue with their sales staff. After a couple of weeks I had all the answers I needed and launched on my big purchase. My desk parts and keyboard arrived with days.
Can’t say enough good things about the quality of the equipment and responsiveness. If you are in the market for a quality standing desk I would not recommend anyone else. The Human Solution are good people.

Great quality furniture. I love my UpLift stand up desk! Glad to buy from a company in the good ol’ US of A.
I purchased it December 11, 2014 as a Christmas present (to myself), but it didn’t arrive in San Francisco till December 29. I was told it should definitely arrive before Xmas. I think my order was misplaced — dropping one star for that.
Once received, the desk was easy to assemble. It came in two heavy boxes, one small with the legs ~70lbs and another with the desktop. Easy to handle with two people. Assembly took about 45 mins with simple hand tools and predrilled holes.
The lift is fairly quiet and the desktop surface is great. Very durable and will last a long time. Plenty of desktop space, which is good because I’m messy. The memory positions are great. The lift starts and stops a little slower so it doesn’t knock anything on the desk over. Nice. I also like the fact that it stops automatically at the memory positions — no need to hold the button down like on the videos.
I also got the UpLift Advanced Wire Management Kit which keeps all the cabling very tidy. In hindsight, all I needed was the spacious cable management enclosure and the power strip, but you can never have enough zip-ties.
I recommend The Human Solution and would use them again.

I love my desk and the accessories that came with it so far. I do believe the desk is a little pricey, but at the same time, it’s helped out my neck, back, shoulders immensely since working on it, so I guess it’s worth the price. The desk is quick to shift from sitting height to standing height and is very quiet for hydraulic motors.
I’ve had pretty good customer service overall, however the deliver guys did not call me to notify me that they were on their way so that I could pack up my old desk and things and get out of the way for them. I had to call and confirm the appointment the week of my scheduled delivery as well. I didn’t hear from them at all after I scheduled the delivery, which made me wonder if it was even scheduled. They were in and out in about an hour or so, which was nice, and kept as quiet as possible with moving around furniture and drills.
Otherwise, I had a good experience with the customer service team. I found their website difficult to navigate and confusing, so I called to put in an order for my desk. The person I spoke to on the phone was nice and knowledgable. I found out that they had a local brick and mortar store after I placed my original order, and I was able to make some changes to my order when I saw some different options in the store itself. It did take them about 3 weeks to notify me that the pieces that I had originally ordered would not be available for my delivery date. It didn’t cause much of a disruption for me but it surely had the potential to be disastrous if I had not decided to keep my old desk and pay for a few upgrades (which I was not pushed into doing).
Overall a good experience thus far and I’m happy with this big investment.

I researched many alternatives while shopping for a stand-up frame for my 60″ table top in order to save money while recycling my old table top. The review at
pointed me at the Uplift 900. While visiting
, I watched their no-nonsense videos and was most impressed with it’s ability to lift two people sitting on top. My biggest concern was the electric motors malfunctioning. I figured they would last a long time because they were way overpowered for the application. I also talked to one of their CSRs and was very impressed with his knowledge and efficiency. It wasn’t long before I realized that I could get everything I needed at a reasonable price from The Human Solution: stand-up table stand, monitor booms, floor pad, cable organizers, power strip — the works.
It arrived in several boxes exactly when they promised. I was delighted to find out that all of the packing materials were recycled. And contents were rock solid. The table stand and monitor booms are built to last. Heavy duty materials. Smooth welding beads. First rate construction. The casters make it easy to roll out the table for cleaning. The 3’x5’ floor pad is cushy, rugged and I really like the thick lip that protects its edges from wear.
Assembling the table was made easier by their assembly video online. Everything went together smoothly. Probably took me about 3 – 4 hours from the time I started to take about my old table to the time I was working at my new desk. And you’re going to love the way the motors purr. Very smooth and quiet as the desk elevation changes. And the presets are space age. Just hit one button and it returns to the desired position slowing down just before it stops.
The monitors are now hanging right where I want to see them. Having two independent arms, one for each monitor, is the way to go. They are infinitely adjustable. The only downside is that they shake when I type. Looks like I need to adjust the casters to level the table.
In conclusion, I’d like to express my appreciation to The Human Solution for providing excellent equipment that will last a lifetime at a price I can afford.

I work from home and sit on my butt all day. My back began to bother me and I decided to do something about it. After doing research I found that the SteelCase Leap chair was pretty good for folks in my situation so I set off to find out. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that The Human Solution in Austin was a dealer of SteelCase products.
I went in to the store a couple times. Each time spending about an hour testing out various chairs and their UpLift desks. I did not intend to purchase an adjustable standing desk but after seeing it in person I was sold on the idea. I’ve been using the desk for about 5 days now and being able to break up the sitting monotony with standing has changed my energy and focus throughout the day. The desk and chair are absolutely great.
I was super happy with the service I received at The Human Solution. Claire spent a lot of time with me during both visits answering all of my questions and helping me make decisions on customizing the desk and the chair. She never tried to upsell me on anything and seemed to have my best interests at heart. She was quick to respond via email with my follow up questions as well.
I opted for the $ 40 extra desk assembly because I was sure I would screw it up. Their delivery guy Dan was awesome. He kept me up to date on when he would arrive and worked around my schedule. When he arrived he quickly got to work setting the desk up. He was quick and efficient in getting my desk set up and offered me a lot of tips and options to customize the setup of the desk.
The Human Solution makes these UpLift desks and I’m surprised they are able to do them at such a cost effective price. I was skeptical at first but the desk has completely lived up to my expectations. The chair is great too!
I walked out of there spending way more money than I thought I would but I wish I made this purchase years ago before I got used to my old sedentary work habits.

Last year I won an office furniture contest from Human Solutions and one of the components was a Steelcase chair (which has been the best office chair, I have ever owned). From the day they called me and told me I had won to the final instillation, the company handled everything in a manor that demonstrated their superior customer service.
Unfortunately, the chair began experiencing some problems the past month, so I called them to see if there was any type of warranty still on the chair. Immediately, their passion for great customer service kicked in again and next thing I know, they are shipping me a brand new one. No arguing… No hassles… No «we don’t believe you» or «this must be your fault» attitudes… THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!
Their handling of a problem that could have happened with any company has once again cemented my firm belief that if a company really wants to, they CAN have great customer service and take care of their clientele.
For me… There are no other office furniture companies!
