Amazing cheap donuts and great kolaches too! It’s as close as you can get to Round Rock Donuts in Austin. And yes their classic cinnamon rolls are amazing.

I got a blueberry glazed and a cinnamon roll, as per my usual. Both were good, but the cinnamon roll in particular blew my socks off, it was downright perfect. I have no idea why this location averages a measly 3 ½ stars. Please don’t drop a 1 star review just because you had a slightly disappointing experience!

A nice little shop in Austin. A place where mom and daughter enjoy donuts before the school day. Yep, I like. Apparently the Kolaches and donuts are incredible. They had an assortment of filled which would make any donut man smile. They must have had 12 different flavors filled in tasty donuts: raspberry, lemon, cream cheese, strawberry… I went with the favorite of the nice woman behind the counter, cream cheese and my favorite, the apple fritter. The fritter is great, not the the top mark but really good. The ends were the part that made it so good. The middle was a bit lacking though. It was a little dry and not flavorful enough for my taste buds. I’m giving this place the 4 star mark because of the great glazed donut and filled. The jelly filled are the right choice, I’d pass on the 3 star fritter for the 4 star filled donuts. I’ll be back and enjoy these donuts again. I am a happy man in Texas, Austin to be exact.

Stopped by to get a dozen assorted donuts to bring to the office and this is about as average as it gets in the donut world. This is really your grocery store quality donut and nothing more. There were no unique or interesting offerings. The donuts in general are a bit chewier and denser than what you’d get at Krispy Kreme, for comparison, and the flavored or iced ones didn’t wow me. The cherry and strawberry glazed donuts were laden with so much food coloring that they have that cheap, bitter, chemically, artificial taste to them. If you want a simple glazed donut, and it’s convenient, great. If you want great donuts or something better than you can get at HEB, for the love of God, go anywhere else. Mrs. Johnsons, Krispy Kreme, Gordoughs, etc…

I’m sad that Shipley’s donuts doesn’t serve in California(or does it?). It’s one of the things I miss about being in Austin. Love love love their donuts! Especially the glazed, cinnamon sugar coated and the chocolate coated ones. These accounted for such a wonderful snack. I miss those days. :( The only reason I give it a 4 star rating instead of a 5, is the store hours. They aren’t open at convenient timings.

My boyfriend bought kolaches from this place since our regular spot was closed … omg. .the worst I’ve had… they were hard and hollow and I really didnt understand the hot dog size bun with a little piece of sausage.

Decent pastries and kolaches, really enjoyed the Big Earl Jalapeño sausage kolache. The filling is also really good.

The four star review is due to two factors: 1. The convenience of a drive thru window. Not the usual for a donut store and makes it(too) easy to order the… 2. Best Kolaches in Austin. Easily. The sweet bread, right kind of sausage link, and melted American cheese. . If you get em fresh, they are a 10⁄10. Later edit: I guess I should’ve clarified. This is referring to the SAUSAGE&CHEESE kolache. No egg, no jalapeño. Just good ol’ sausage and cheese. Would be 5 star if the donuts were a little better. Not my favorite or even in my Top 3 in the city. Sorry.

Shipley’s has always been my favorite spot for donuts and kolaches. I’m so happy this location is here, with a drive thru no less! I don’t know what’s up with people saying the kolaches aren’t good here, I think they’re awesome. The only bummer about this location is that they used to have this really good, ridiculously sweet flavored iced coffee and last time I went the girl had no idea what i was talking about, so I assume they don’t have it anymore. Bring back the iced coffee, Shipley’s!!!

Shipley Do-nuts is the best donuts anywhere. Screw Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ and even Round Rock donuts. The king of the donut is the Houston based Shipley Do-nuts! Bow to your ruler!

I have to admit, it’s probably my favorite donut place simply because of proximity to my house. I think the staff are really nice and fast. I love the donuts — they are not too«bready» like some other Shipley’s I’ve been too. My fave is the powdered sugar cake donut. They have several types of kolaches which are pretty good(more bread than filling than other kolache places). The sausage-cheese-jalepeno one is actually quite spicy! They carry«Big Earl» sausage kolaches — I don’t know, he was some football player who turned sausage maker? — but I don’t find those as good, but that’s my personal preference. It’s fun to go and sit there — there are a lot of families with small kids who go on a Sat or Sunday morning and it’s amusing to watch them. Coffee is pretty absymal — but I’m a coffee snob.

I like that they are open at 5am! The donuts are good and fresh. The service is friendly. But if you’re looking for a good kolache, you will be disappointed. I ordered the Big Earl with cheese and jalapeño. Big Ear implies big weeny, right? Not in this case! I was disappointed with the size!

Although I love the smell of freshly fried donuts, I only eat them once in a blue moon because they are quite the calorie bomb and sugar high. A Shipley’s opened up within walking distance of my house, so I decided to check it out since they had mailed me coupons, and my friends in Houston rave about them. I have to say that I was greatly underwhelmed. Glazed donut/donut hole — Their glazed donut was alright, but I liked their donut holes better(could be biased since I am a huge fan of donut holes). Sausage kolache — I’ve tasted MUCH better. I believe what makes a kolache good is the bread part of it, and theirs was just not good. It just didn’t taste all that fresh — I prefer it when it tastes more like a Hawaiian roll. Coffee — their menu said flavored coffee, but the lady said that they don’t even sell flavored coffee. Why have it on the menu then? Unlike other donut shops around town, they only offer drip coffee. I wonder if they just buy something like Folgers and call it their coffee. I’m not picky when it comes to coffee, so I’ll just get something cheap like Bengal Traders coffee at Exxon, and I have to say that Shipley’s coffee tastes worse than that! That’s pretty sad when your coffee tastes worse than coffee you can find at a gas station. It’s probably a good thing that I’m not a big fan of their goods especially since they are so close to my house. I mean, I shouldn’t expect much from a chain donut shop, but I would much rather have Dunkin Donuts than Shipleys.

Shipleys provides an excellent standard glazed donut. Exceptionally friendly employees when I visited yesterday morning. There’s not too much else to review about a donut shop…

Austin, please give a warm welcome to Shipley, which is synonymous to deliciousness in my book. Hands down the best donuts I have ever had! Their kolaches are also quite good. Be sure to try the glazed donut along with the jalapeño sausage kolache. Cheap & very clean! Friendly staff, but needs work on better relaying of information between staff members in the order fulfillment process, as it was a bit of a mess when I went. I’ll be back!

A Shipley’s in my neighborhood! With a DRIVETHRU! YAY!!! I can’t tell you how excited I am that this location opened. I’ve been at least once each weekend since I learned it was open! I love that I don’t have to drive way the heck north or south for a Shipley’s donut now. And y’all know that I love being lazy when I’m being gluttonous, so it doesn’t get any better than a donut place with a drive thru. I love Shipley’s donuts the most when they’re hot and fresh. I guess I haven’t figured out when that is for this location yet. If anyone knows, please let me know! But I’ll take Shipley’s by my house any way I can get it — hot or not. The drive thru signage is almost non-existant right now, making the exit a little scary. I hope they’ll improve this as business picks up.

My boyfriend is from Houston, where Shipleys originated and are on like every other corner. He loooves Shipleys, but living in the Allandale neighborhood the closest one is about 10 miles away, not convenient for Sunday morning breakfast. And then like a dream, one day less than a mile from home we saw a sign: «Coming soon– Shipleys Do-nuts»! Brand new building, nicest looking Shipleys I’ve ever been in. And the kolaches and donuts are just as delicious as the ones we eat when in Houston. And they have a drive thru!
