It’s New To Me

I found several really nice vintage pieces at excellent prices. It is by far the best furniture consignment store in Austin. Sales staff was helpful but not pushy.

Beautiful furniture of a quality that is hard to find in anything new. Reasonable prices and delivery if you need it. We got a lovely solid teak cabinet with hutch-​shelving that is perfect for our mid century modern. Highly recommend.

I read these reviews before going into the store and wanted to see for myself if they were polite and helpful. I went in twice to buy a dresser for my bedroom. Each associate I met was friendly, helpful, and attentive. even a sense of dry humor! I felt like the prices were right on track with what I would be willing to pay if I were to buy used furniture on CL. But much cleaner. I asked about the delivery service since one negative review was about that. He said yes they do have delivery service but it’s a great deal only if u buy a complete bedroom set. Since its $ 80 for them to deliver. Makes sense, if you buy a complete set for $ 900 that is an awesome deal! But for me, buying a $ 200 dresser it isn’t. He suggested Home Depot rental for $ 20 and they would help load it for me. I thought this was a very nice option and not rude at all for him to suggest. The person that wrote that negative review has to understand they have policies in place for a reason. I was able to hire 2 guys from CL for $ 40 to help me get the dresser. I had a great experience at the store and will definitely shop here again. I own a local austin business as well and think customers have an unrealistic expectation of what a business can offer. They do offer an incredible delivery service but if you are buying one piece it won’t benefit you. There is nothing negative about that at all.

i love this store! Yes sometimes you dont find what you are looking for, but I ususally find something and the prices are AWESOME!!! My Thomasville Queen Anne bedroom set $ 800. Cant beat that!!! I always check here first! Staff has always been friendly & helpful!

VERY disappointed in a local business that I used to love — It’s New to Me, over in the corner shopping center at Burnet and Anderson. I have both consigned and purchased many items there over the years. This time I was consigning our dining table and chairs. When I showed the folks pictures, they said $ 800 easy. When a different employee, the son of the owner, came by to pick it up, he said, no, the employee had over estimated. The best they could do would be $ 600. I could take a $ 200 Check (minus the $ 80 fee for coming 4 blocks to get it — would be $ 280) or wait and see if I got $ 220 when they sold it. I argued that the other employee said $ 800. He told me he had done this for years and the best they could mark it would be $ 600. I took the check, slightly disappointed, but willing to believe him as this business had always been honest with me in the past. Today (one day later) I go into the shop, and lo and behold, my table is marked $ 795. I spoke with the original employee, expressed my extreme disappointment, and told them either let me give the check back and consign it for the $ 800 originally discussed and now marked, or return the table and I would go elsewhere. He took the check and let me re-​consign. I told him that only because he had been reasonable about it and because this had never occurred in the past was I willing to continue doing business here. I am VERY unhappy with the obvious dishonesty and blatant disregard for a customer from an Austin owned business. Hoping that the remainder of the situation goes well and that the young man is disciplined and reminded that long term customers are worth much more than the small profit his lying would have brought the store.

I found a lot of good stuff here, but the service was abysmal.
I was ready to buy about $ 300 – 400 worth of furniture, so I expected at least basic courtesy from the employees. When I asked about delivery they told me that they didn’t deliver for such «small things» (a rocking chair, nightstand, and roughly 7′ tall bookshelf). I explained that I did not have the time or physical ability to move these things myself, and they just suggested that I ask a friend.
I made it clear that I was willing to pay nearly anything for delivery, and they suggested I rent a Uhaul. Then when I decided to leave, he screamed «NO» at me, as if that would make me want to purchase the items. Nope. I’d rather pay more or go to every Goodwill in town than be talked to like an idiot or a child.

If you’re looking for gently used furniture with character and one-​of-​a-​kind pieces, this is the place for you. They have great prices and sometimes even come down on prices. I go to this store often since new items come in often. Yes most pieces are «out dated» however if you like owning unique pieces of furniture, this place carries all kinds of styles. If you are all about shopping at IKEA or Target for furniture that everyone has in their home, this place is NOT for you. This store is for people who have an imagination about room decoration, see potential in older furniture and have a good eye to pick out treasures.

Upscale furniture consignment… is not… maybe if you get really lucky one day?
I didn’t see anything in there that was remotely interesting or upscale. honestly it felt like a garage sale circa 1980. I don’t know, it’s not for me. I was much luckier at other home consignment stores —

Took some furniture there and they offered to buy it for $ 75. I thought it was WAY too low since the furniture was in exellent condition (it was only used to stage our house while it was sold) I went to a place around the corner and they offered me $ 250. Geezz i know that you need to make some money but to rip off people like that it’s something else.

We hit the jackpot on visiting this store about a month ago. Purchased a really nice king bedroom suite, queen mattress/​box spring, and a great funky little mid-​century buffet that we’re now using as tv stand in our living room. The prices were very reasonable and they do negotiate, if asked. I would definitely come here again if looking for additional furniture.

I like this place, it is like a treasure hunt. Sometimes you find something, sometimes you don’t.
When you do find something it is a good price.
The store today smelled like cigarette smoke, we finally figured it out when we saw one of the owners smoking in the store. Very sad :(

I always buy new. Very picky about
and weary of discount places. A friend asked that I accompany her to shop for a new dinning room table and ofcourse I said yes to home décor shopping! But when we pulled up I groaned and she said give it a chance. Well, she was right. It’s New to Me, is not the average consignment store. The have an inventory blend of new and consignment; regardless, they are name brands in tip top shape. Lots to choose from the staff very friendly. Now for me, there are a lot of wood pieces, and I am a ironrod/​glass type of girl. But I saw a few items that I wanted for a couch, lamps and new dinning room chairs. I went comparison shopping and didn’t find comparable pricing for the quality. So it is a good store, great deals and I am now a fan.

I went in looking for a sofa. There were multiple pieces of furniture that I was interested in. Picked up a «used» Lay-​Z-​Boy sofa in perfect shape for $ 290. The staff was personable and it was a quick get in, get out experience… just like I wanted.
Instead of waiting for them to deliver it, which they offered to do for around $ 80 (per truckload), I opted to use someone that had just that day offered his services. Since it was a guy and a truck, it was agreed upon that I would help unload it. Got it delivered for $ 60 within a few hours. The guy’s name was Scott Graves, he drives what looks to be a re-​purposed U-​Haul truck, his number was 512−773−4240, and I can vouch for his reliability.
Anyway, I will definitely check them out for any future furniture needs.

Upscale furniture consignment they say. For one thing, upscale furniture just means someone else paid a lot for it, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s in good taste. I also found the welcoming crowd rather unsociable. Or perhaps they’re shy. Either way, the rather boring furniture and unwelcoming staff made me cross this place off of places to consider.
If you’re looking for reasonably priced furniture, this isn’t a bad place to check out, but like any second hand place, it’s hit or miss. If it helps, I tend to go for the clean lines and mid century modern pieces — this place missed.

Alas, she could never remember the name of THIS place, so we drove around a while, trying to remember where I’d bought a couch in college. Finally, we stumbled into the store, looked around, and sighed. If you need a college couch, oh, they still have those, but everything here is a hilarious mishmash of styles and decades. There is nothing trendy or curated about this collection. We spent a good ten minutes debating the merits of spraypainting and refinishing two bookcases. Ultimately, the fact that I could not independently lift the darn things led to the negative vote. Seriously — the best wooden thing in the store needed spraypaint. And all the furniture could have been re-​upholstered and maybe shoved into cuteness.
So. If you have a house to stage, or need to consign granny’s easy chair, give these folks a call! The prices are decent, just above thrift stores, but the silliness factor is worth it. Oh! And the salesmen don’t pounce. You can Browse in Peace. Maybe that’s what I’ll call my new place.

Shopping for some new or slightly new furniture so decided to go into Its New To Me. Staff very friendly, great prices, would highly recommend this store to others that are in the market for a good deal on furniture

Very unprofessional. They said they would send two guys to check out the furniture I need to consign. Two hours past the time I called to see what was going on. They said they called twice and left messages – I did not know they were going to call first, but in any case I did not receive any calls… and when I told them that, they did not believe me. I will not do business with them and I would not advise others to use them – their customer service seems to be very spotty.

Hit or Miss. Mostly miss. Still tempting, though.

Time and Money. Always comes down to time and money.
Some days, however, I vote for renaming this place «It’s New to No One.»
