Row Your Heart Out @ Ro Fitness

Sunday Funday indeed! A great way to spend a day by Town Lake while getting your rear in ever so fit gear by rowing to your heart’s content!
Chelsea, our fearless rowing leader, was so gracious and gave a fantastic class in how to properly use the rowing machines at Ro and how to achieve the proper form while doing so!
It was such a beautiful day we even moved our class outside to do our 2000M relay… which was a ton of «hurt so good» fun! Though, 2000M turned out to be waaaaay longer than any of us expected, we definitely got some «fit in our sit» after showing off our rowing prowess to our fellow Eliters.
Kelly, our every so magnificent Unilocal Leader, led us to the post-​workout nirvana that is Alta’s Café, where we were greeted by the nicest staff who showered us in delicious sammich action, a sinful serving of Snickerdoodle, gluten-​free zucchini bread (that was oh so gooood!), and one of the best smoothies that has ever had the pleasure of gracing my tastebuds!
The highlight for me, though, was the fantastic endorphin rush post row-​workout and enjoying one of the prettiest days of the year at a quintessential ATX location with great people while sipping a fantastic white wine choice from Alta’s.
A girl could get used to (and in shape) for Sunday Fundays like this!

I’ve loved every CMFE Kelly’s put on, but this one took the cake. My competitive nature compels me to never back down from a challenge, so I was thrilled to see we’d be doing a race against other teams.
It was great to get a good, solid workout in with such a relatively small time investment and I’m definitely looking forward to going back. And then getting a bottle of wine from Alta’s Café as a post-​workout recovery drink.

I’m wary about fitness «events» … Even those of the Unilocal variety. I’m getting older; I haven’t always taken the best care of myself. It’s not that I’m particularly competitive. I just don’t want to embarrass myself.
Then I’m reminded that these things are fun, first and foremost. Even a bit enlightening. Although the closest thing I have to a rowing experience is throwing up over the side of a party barge on Lake Travis, our instructor (Chelsea, who is so very supportive and nice) talked us through the motions (you have to pull the handle thing to the bottom of your sports bra, you see).
Rō hosted 10 of us total, and I say all of us comported ourselves with a fair amount of grace and (of course) style. Thanks to Rō for inviting us back (they even offered another free class to help us decide if it’s the right fitness program for us, and I’m looking forward to it!)

In my feeble attempt to generate a gigawatt of power I nearly pulled my back, my right bicep, and a few capillaries. Fortunately I still have my dignity.
At least until they brought out the snickerdoodle cookie and assortment of other amazing snacks. It was all downhill from there.
A day later and my back still hurts.
