The rest of me might always be a hot mess, but I am VERY particular about my nails. After going to several salons in the South Lamar area, I felt like I wasn’t getting a great value for what I was paying. Enter Pure Nails.
Securing an appointment was a breeze. I walk in for the first time and there are no chemical scents or blaring televisions or radios. My nail technician was Ni for both my gel manicure and pedicure, and I will never go to anyone else.
She was warm and talkative when I was chatty, but allowed me to sink back and relax on the massage. I’m sensitive in certain areas (multiple foot surgeries) and she in no way made me feel uncomfortable, but instead listened to me when I asked for sensitivity in certain spots. Ni paid so much attention to detail and I have never had softer feet, smoother polish, or better shaped nails. I can’t believe I didn’t drop in earlier; I know I’ve found my go-​to salon!

After all the great reviews, I definitely expected a better experience. Our first impression upon entering was that everything is crammed into a tiny space, and there was no place to sit while waiting for an appointment. It’s a good thing there aren’t many fumes, because it would be stifling inside. They seemed to want us to come back later, even though we had an appointment, so we did.
I booked with a friend who had been there before, and realized afterward that there is a great disparity in the skill level of the techs. My friend had a great experience with her tech, who skillfully showed off her massage, scrubbing, and pampering chops. The woman I had pre-​booked a mani/​pedi with (apparently the owner) clipped and filed my nails without soaking them first, which is a huge no-​no unless you’re a podiatrist with a long line of elderly Medicare patients waiting for an overpriced trim. Her abrasive nail buffing technique prior to polish left me with sore, fraying cuticles for a couple of weeks afterward.
The same woman was too busy to complete the pedi, because she decided to take a walk-​in, and shuffled me off to an obviously brand new tech, whom I had to ask to fix several obvious things as she went along. I’ve never had to ask for that much before. But really, she should be able to cut nails straight and remove obvious cuticles and dry areas on skin without having to be asked. Somewhere, a beauty school teacher is shaking her head.
The highest level mani-​pedi they offer includes a sugar scrub and a paraffin treatment, which was nice. But this is the only salon I’ve been to where they have you stand over the kitchen sink and scrub your own hands and arms with the sugar scrub. Most of their polish bottles looked old, so I was glad to have brought my own. After two hours, I left feeling like I’d had a day at the beauty school, not a nail salon. Pretty disappointing.

Love this place. Impeccably clean, friendly staff, excellent quality work. They use natural products and do a super detailed job — my pedis last a month. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I loved the fact that this salon has a clean atmosphere and uses more natural products. My nail tech was friendly. Unfortunately, there were too many negatives, which seemed to stem from a lack of proper business management:
1. Extremely short handed, only 2 nail techs when I arrived on a FRIDAY afternoon. One of the techs had to call (who I assumed was) the owner in to help work. The girl working on me had not been able to eat all day at almost 5pm!
2. The mani/​pedi took almost TWO HOURS.
3. The tech doing my nails was obviously new. I had to ask her to re-​do several things, and she did not seem skilled whatsoever. When the owner arrived, she corrected the tech on something, but there was obviously no preparatory training instilled that should have been in place by the owner.
4. I asked for the most «basic» mani/​pedi over the phone, and since the girl taking my call knew it was my first time there, I assumed I was getting a basic package, with no upgrades. To my surprise they had upgraded me to the «Pure» package and the cost was $ 10 more when I went to pay!
Total of $ 60 BEFORE TIP for a less than quality job that took almost 2 hours. I will be spending that money and time elsewhere in the future.

My daughter and I went here for the first time today. It was great! Perfect manicures and pedicures. Relaxing and comfortable!

This salon was very clean, courteous and enjoyable however they need to practice on their SNS nails. I made my appointment online and noted that I wanted SNS nails (French). When I arrived, the technician that I was assigned was very unsure of the technique and in the end needed more training. I would’ve preferred to have known that when I made the appointment.
April is the only technician that can do these types of nails, I wish I would’ve known she was not available so that I could’ve rescheduled. I understand that to get more experience they would have to do more of these types of nails however they should probably offer it at a discounted price until their technique is perfected.
Normally I am in and out within an hour of time at most salons however this one took two hours. They ask you to allow 1 ½ hours because all of their filing is by hand since it’s better for the nail bed. Sadly, I just don’t have that kind of time.
The owner was very kind, offering to redo the nails free of charge on another day however I’m not sure that I want to sit for 1 ½ hours to redo them even if it is for free.
I came to the salon because of the Unilocal reviews, all being so positive. In the future I just think you should let people know if you cannot perform a certain task very well and you should not advertise it on your website.
If you’re having any other type of services done this may be your salon.

I like that these place is a clean little salon with only a few people being serviced at a time. They have only a couple brands of polish though like OPI and Spa Ritual, and I think two shellac or long wear gel like brands. I wish they carried Zoya, as Zoya is totally organic and lasts for a long period of time and has amazing colors to choose from. The gal working there broke a bottle and they were good about opening the door and clearing the air while the smell of polish remover dissipated. Oh, I almost forgot my spa pedicure felt great and my toe nails and feet look beautiful. They get a clean warm water bucket for your feet and have really nice massage chairs which I love because the body massage is then basically free. Lamond took her time, gave a nice foot and leg rub and really did a perfect job. I’d definitely check this nail salon out if I were you!

This place was a real delight! Friendly friendly staff, clean and welcoming environment. Great work, there wasn’t anything that I would change about my experience. Will definitely be back!

This is the friendliest nail salon I’ve ever been to! It was a very warm atmosphere, much more than I’d ever expect while getting a pedicure. Camille is great and I can’t wait to go back again!

After getting fed up with all of the economical nail salons in the South Austin corridor (Great Nails, Sweet Nails), Pure Nails is a breath of fresh air (and quite literally so as the salon is devoid of that typical, overpowering nail salon aroma!)
Camille was patient, meticulous and provided a great overall experience with great finish on my Shellac manicure. The price is a bit more than what I’m used to paying, but for the extra quality and ambience, it is worth it — not to mention the complimentary mimosa!

As a guy who had never gotten manicures and pedicures before coming to Pure Nails, I really did my research of the local Austin shops with a preference for those business that don’t use a lot of chemicals. Pure Nails was a name that kept on popping up in reviews on-​line, so I booked a «sports» mani-​pedi with them. I never felt nervous or intimidated and got great looking nails afterwards. After almost a year, I am regularly giving them my business to maintain the work they have done, even though their location is on the other side of town from where I live. That’s how happy I am with them.

This place is awesome! Nia is my favorite, but all the ladies that work there are super nice. It’s not like any other salon I’ve been to. They care a lot about they’re clientele and are super friendly! It’s a little pricey but I think it’s worth it!

I am a few months behind and I have needed to write this review since my birthday!!! So long story short I made a reservation at another nail salon (no name dropping but it is a very busy salon on S. First St.) two weeks in advance for my birthday. I arrived to that appointment only to be told that I needed to wait 45 minutes as they were understaffed and had two walkins prior to my arrival (I had arrived 15 minutes EARLY to boot). Needless to say I was not having it, pissed and decided another salon would get my business.
Behold: Pure Nails!!! I called and asked if they had any room for a walk in after having explained the above scenario, and they said sure come on down! Camille (the owner) was a sweetheart and greeted me with a glass of champagne for my birthday and explained her business to me (being a nail salon that uses all natural products). Ni was assigned the task of giving me a pedicure and manicure. Not at any point did my pedicure or manicure feel rushed. Ni made sure to massage my legs and feet, hands and arms and take her time to insure my experience was worth the running around from salon to salon.
This place is pretty quirky, wonderfully friendly and very busy– however unlike other aforementioned places, they honor their clients and scheduled appointments. Love this place!!!

Wowzer! What an unexpected delight these guys were. Booked a last minute pedi and Pure Nails were the third place I called — didn’t even check the Unilocal reviews (sorry.!) — but the lovely Ni gave me the best pedi of my life. What a miracle worker.
I’m a runner — and thus have runners feet — not remotely pretty. But after an hour in the chair I’ve emerged with flip flop worthy toes and super soft heels.
Bonus points for not laughing /​crying about my mile worn feet and less-​than-​lovely training calluses. And for the perfectly pitched leg massage.
Mimosa’s for the non-​detoxers and tea for the boring ones. A great range of colours and a lovely clean feeling salon.
Literally could not recommend this place or Ni more.

This place is the best in Austin. Make sure you make an appointment, because it can book up quickly, for good reason. Not only are they super friendly it is one of the best pedicures I’ve ever had.

I love this place! The women are so fantastic, the salon is clean, and it is a really nice salon to hang out in with nice chairs, basins not circulating chairs! It doesn’t smell in there because they don’t so the chemicals. Ni gave me a great pedicure tonight and her massage is out of this world! My feet feel like a baby’s bottom and look beautiful. I couldn’t recommend this place more! They do walk ins but I know Saturdays can be busy so I would book an appt.

I absolutely ADORE this place! I see Ni and she is the sweetest. Really, the entire staff is sweet! They only use natural products so the place doesn’t have a overwhelming or bad smell. They also use this amazing salt scrub that makes your skin super soft, it’s my favorite part of getting my nails done here. They will take care of you very well here and they will take the time to get to know and remember you. I’m so glad I found this place and will continue to be a loyal customer.

I happen to be on South Lamar with some spare time so popped in to get a pedicure. While they do take walk-​ins they highly recommend booking an appointment via their online scheduler.
The staff was super friendly as soon as I walked in and the owner, Camille, was free and hooked me up with a mimosa and amazing pedi. I LOVE their pedi chairs. They are massage chairs like we are all use to but they have a removable pan that is washed for each client. Although there are no spa jets the pan sits on a heated vibrating plate to massage away the tension. This is WAY better and completely sanitary so the worries of catching a foot funk is totally eliminated. Pls all tools are sterilized. WIN!
I was squeezed in an appt but at not time felt that Camille was rushing to get done with my service. I am not sure if they do fun/​funky nail art (I will have to go back to find out) but they are a NATURAL nail salon meaning no stinky fumes from acrylics.

The owner may be awesome, but I had one of the worst pedicures ever. The polish was old and goopy and two hours later my nails are still not dry and the polish is ‘rolling’. Nails are okay, but polish is all over the place. Nothing special. Maybe I had an off day, but wasn’t worth the $ 55.

I love this place. Love. Did you know they are all natural? Did you know that it’s like an apartment in here and there’s a cat walking around?! And you can have wine!!! A girl with purple hair told me I don’t need chemicals?!?

This might be one of the best salons I’ve been to. They are the sweetest and most kind hearted people. Friendly staff, Netflix, mimosas, wine, cake, etc… Is this for real?
The salon is a bit small (3 people) so be sure to call ahead to make sure they are available. So cozy inside — full kitchen… You can rent out the whole salon if you have enough girls and have your own girls night!
They also use ALL NATURAL products… So that means no acrylic nails, ladies. However, they do do shellac.
Ni helped me out with my manicure and pedicure and even gave me a hug at the end! Not to mention, the environment was so friendly, everyone in the salon wound up watching the movie together and commentating together.

Camille was great. She dealt with the feet of an athlete who had never had a pedicure before (I took care of my feet as best a guy could tho!). I am a giant by most standards 6’5 and 230 or so… but I figured it was time to get my feet dealt with by a professional. Camille is an artist with feet and a fun person to talk with to boot.
It’s a nice little store with a great environment that is easy to access. You can also book appointments online, something that for a smaller store was surprising. My feet felt fabulous after it… went for a run shortly after it and I felt fast, was kinda strange…
For the record, I do not know Camille or any other employees personally, but rather am a transplant from Salt Lake City who just moved into Austin (moved Feb 2015, pedi in Apr 2015)

In search of a top nail salon in Austin, I did some research and found reviews for this gem of a salon online. A small business owner myself, I loved reading that the owner, Camille, is a perfectionist and works hard to ensure that her clients are comfortable and happy. Being a business owner is not for the weak of heart. And, this is even more so the case when the business owner herself is a staff member striving to provide excellent customer service.
Though I chose Pure Nails because of the reviews, I was still very pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail that was provided during my Shellac manicure. I’ve never received such an amount of compliments on my nails than after my appointment at Pure Nails. With many Shellac experiences to my name, this was the very first time that my polish lasted for the entire two weeks and looked great at that. Additionally, the three staff members at the salon (Camille included) were all very friendly and accommodating; It was clearly evident that they all enjoy what they do as well as working together.
In the ten years that I’ve lived in Austin I’ve never found a nail salon to which I can claim loyalty. Camille and her staff at Pure Nails has changed that entirely. Thank you, ladies!

I won’t go anywhere else! My nails are perfect every time! I’ve never had the owner, Camille, but all her customers seem to love her work and she’s super pleasant to be around and chat with while I’m there. I go to Natalie for french shellac. I’ve only needed a repair once and they were more than pleased to squeeze me in and at no cost.
One of my favorite things, the salon is always clean! Plus, because it’s a natural salon, it doesn’t have that awful smell you get in other places. And the price is right. Cheap is never good… you get what you pay for and I’ve seen some nasty places. But I also hate going to over priced places where you feel you’re a burden if you ask for something to be fixed or something specific. At Pure I feel like I’m with friends who just happen to be pampering me!

I live upstairs at the 704 (yes, the salon is on the first floor of the brand new apartment complex) and today was my first time getting shellac here. Camille, the owner, treated me as if we has known eachother for years. She catered to me, made me laugh and even put on one of my favorite movies to watch! Every day of the week they have a theme: Movie and popcorn Thursday, Mimosa Monday and Wine Down Wednesday! Who wouldn’t want to relax and wine down here? Definitely coming back! So, so happy to have discovered it.

I highly recommend the Ultimate Shellac Mani-​Pedi combo. Never have my hands, fingers, toes, and soles of my feet felt SO soft!

My friend and I had high expectations for this salon. Overall, the experience was not very relaxing. My person did not engage me in conversation and I felt like I was annoying her. My pedicure turned out really well but my nails not so much. They were shaped poorly and she kept forgetting that I was getting the ultimate, which included a scrub and paraffin. The owner did fix the shape of my nails, but I kept feeling like I was a bother to them. My friend was getting her nails done for her wedding this weekend and was not happy with the end result. However, we were there for over 3 hours and did not want to stay any longer to get them fixed. It was supposed to be a pampering experience, but my friend and I felt like we were annoying them and putting them out. The experience was definitely not relaxing and it was way too expensive not to be satisfied.
