NextCare Urgent Care

Comfortable facilities. It looked very clean and I liked that it had toys for children. I even saw one kids leaving with a Valentine’s day gift bag full of swag. Everyone was very helpful and explained things thoroughly, especially in billing. The doctor took time to discuss my concerns and I did not feel rushed. The wait was about 1.5 hours, but that was to be expected in order to receive quality care.

No exaggeration, I’m 35 years told and I’ve had best experience seeing a doctor here. Everyone was friendly and professional. Very clean and the staff was excellent. Michelle took her time with me and was genuinely concerned about my health. My wife has been here before as well and had nothing but goods things to say. I really can’t find one thing to complain about.

As a mother of two young children and no insurance i had to go to urgent care and I’m so glad i did. my 14 month old daughter had cut her wrist open and needed stitches. I walked in with her and Ebony at the desk was a total saint. She kept me calm (she could obviously see i was on the edge of a nervous breakdown). Chastity came out (she’s a nurse there) and was so sweet and gentle as she checked out my daughters cut. She was so gentle that she didn’t even wake her up. The manager (Jennifer? she has red hair) was also extremely sweet as she informed me about their new program for families without insurance. After all was said and done, my daughter had two stitches which were put in by a great doctor, my nerves were calmed, and i can say that we now have our new place to go when our kids are sick. Even today i took the same daughter in and was seen right away and she was diagnosed with a double ear infection. I don’t understand all the negative reviews BC all THREE times I’ve been there in the last month we have received outstanding service and have NO complaints about NextCare. I 100% recommend them to anyone that doesn’t have a general practitioner or insurance. I’m sure I’ll be back (hopefully not sooner than later)

My boyfriend went in for some pretty serious road rash and spent 45min in the waiting room plus an additional 45 in his room waiting for the doctor only to discover the doctor was SUPER BUSY reading a magazine. Maybe she was brushing up on medical advances in the field of Kim Kardashian. Upon assessing his wounds, she determined that he had to go to the ER. On the upside, he wasn’t charged, but on the downside, he spent almost 2 hours post motorcycle accident waiting to be told to go to an actual professional establishment. Here’s the kicker — once arriving at the ER at the amazing Heart Hospital of Austin, the doctor told him that NextCare could have at least cleaned his wounds. Thanks NextCare!
PS. The staff in the waiting room were very courteous and kind.

I felt like I received fine care at NextCare, but the follow-​up was a Byzantine automated voice mail nightmare.
I received two automated messages on my office voice mail before 9:00 am on Monday morning both telling me that my doctor had a message for me and I should call an 866 number to retrieve the message. I call the number and am prompted to type in my patient ID #. Patient ID #??? I didn’t even know I had one, and my paperwork from my visit one week ago is at home.
So, I look up the number of the clinic I was seen at, call them and ask for the message, and all they can do (after going through a series of questions to verify my identity) is give me the patient ID number. Now properly armed, I call back the first number, type in my patient ID and get my message. Guess what it is: «we have a message for you. Please call yet another number and ask to be connected to the clinic where you were seen.»
That’s right, the clinic where I was seen. The one I talked to not 2 minutes ago. The one that could have just given me the message in the first place, right? But didn’t for some reason I don’t even understand.
Call the new number and ask to be connected to the clinic where I was seen. (I do this because I’m following instructions — I could have just called the clinic directly, since I already had their number, but I’m trying to be a good little soldier, right?) After answering the same question I answered previously to verify my identity, she says «I’ll have the provider call you back.» I say, «what if I’m not at my desk? Then we get to go through this whole thing again?» She did a good job of remaining polite in the face of my obvious frustration — I had reached my limit at this point — but when I asked to be transferred to someone who could register my complaint about how the entire process was handled, I got — Surprise, Surprise — voice mail. I didn’t even bother and just came here.
P. S. As I was typing this review I received my call back. For the third time this morning I verified my identity. The message that I had to jump through so many hoops to get? «The diagnosis and treatment we gave you last week were correct.»
Thanks, but after this my blood pressure is elevated.
So, here’s the thing: I elected to go to an urgent care clinic (and pay a 50% higher copay) for no other reason than the convenience of not having to schedule an appointment. While I did receive that added benefit, it was far outweighed by the inconvenience I suffered in the aftermath.
And, believe it or not, I just got another automated phone call telling me that they have a message for me and I should call their 866 number to retrieve it. Sorry, guys, I’m not playing along. Not now, and not again in the future.

I was intrigued when I found out that I could set up an appointment. I did this and they still took everyone else before me. I had called to confirm I could get right in. I finally left after waiting 40 minutes. The customer service was pathetic as well. First and last time I try Nextcare.

They have the flu vaccine, but they don’t take insurance for the vaccination.

First I am a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist. I have been having hiccups for 2 days with poor sleep and appetite.
I went to NextCare because the co-​pay is lower than ED. The doctor had no idea what to prescribe for hiccups and he was going to give me Zofran?! I know it definitely won’t work for hiccups. So I told him I am a pharmacotherapy specialist.
I told him he should consider baclofen and thlorazine. They both have unlabelled use for hiccups. He would only give me thlorazine because he didn’t know baclofen can be used for hiccups. I told him thlorazine is traditionally used more often but baclofen has less side effect. (Thlorazine is an antipsychotic. and baclofen is a muscle relaxant.) I took out my smartphone and immediately google «baclofen hiccups» and showed him.
I did overstep the boundary but my hiccups wouldn’t stop and I was miserable. What options did I had when I knew what I needed and the doctor was clueless? The hiccups were so bad my chest started to hurt.
Finally he «learned» and agreed to give me both scripts but he said he needed to finish my chart before he could give them to me?! Why couldn’t he give me the prescriptions first and do his chart later in his office?
I even gave him the names, dosage, route, frequency, and indications. He just needed to copy them to a prescription pad. I think I may have pissed him off a bit but I am not going to take the Zofran which wouldn’t work for hiccups. I had to wait 30 min in the exam room because he needed «to do his charts.»
I was miserable. I should have charged him for teaching the doctor pharmcology.
The waiting and exam rooms were bright and clean.

I went to the NextCare clinic for some neck and shoulder pain I had. First visit I left satisfied with my visit and the service. Unfortunately I was unaware of how dissatisfied I should have been. During this visit they prescribed me muscle relaxers and pain relievers. They also gave me a pill for blood pressure since it was high (most likely due to the pain I was in) and advised me not to take Ibuprofen since it an Nsaid and not good for high blood pressure. The doctor decided it would be good for me to also get a steroid injection to help relieve the pain. The nurse gave me the injection in my hip rather than my shoulder. It was the first time I had one so I was not aware it needed to go in the area of the pain, but she should have injected it into my shoulder. I went home that day, took the meds, and started to have a reaction to the pain pill. Next day I called the nurse and told her what had happened. I also explained I don’t know what to take for pain since the doctor told me no ibuprofen because of my blood pressure. The nurse responded, «you should probably take advil then.» Of course, you and I know, Advil is a name brand of ibuprofen… I went back in for my 2^nd visit and saw a different doctor. She was about to give me 2^nd steroid injection until i mentioned that I had just gotten one from her associate. She then decided, instead of giving me a different prescription for pain, to give me a long term prescription for high blood pressure. I have to say, I have a primary care physician and came to this place simply for convenience. It is not a doc-in-a-box’s, responsibility to give me a long-​term prescription for something that is unfounded. I had an appointment with my primary care physician and he was glad I did not take those meds because he is not convinced it is necessary due to my recent HISTORY. We have a follow up appointment scheduled to review my blood pressure readings. He has advised me to not take my blood pressure while I am in pain since it had a direct effect on my reading. NextCare, if you read this, you need ensure the degrees your employees have are from an accredited college because I seriously have some doubts.

Pretty quick service, nice waiting room, overall a good experience.

Don“t go here!!! Service is terrible, poor bedside manner of medical assistants/​RT, inept medical care with little explanation given… better off waiting in the ER, because that is how long the wait was here… at least you ‘d get better care! They only had an RT and PA on duty, then they rushed me out like they had somewhere else to go!!! Recommend you only go here for a scrape, blister, or something you can fix yourself… see what I mean… why go here anyway?!

I will never go to NextCare again. The PA who saw me flat out told me that NextCare could not help me with my condition, and gave me a referral. I expected that I should get my money back since NextCare did absolutely nothing to help me, but I did not. I went there with my girlfriend and our little one-​year old baby. I have no insurance and therefore must pay out of pocket. My girlfriend does not work and is a stay at home mother of four, so we are a single income family. Needless to say, I only go to the doctor when it is absolutely necessary, because I can hardly afford it. I have been to NextCare several times about my condition to no avail. I feel as though on my previous visit I should have been made aware that the treatment was a last ditch effort, and that if the treatment did not work I should go elsewhere. Instead NextCare basically robbed me of eighty more dollars of which I really could not afford to spend. The way I see it is if you provide a service and that service is totally inadequate, then ethically speaking, you should be prepared to offer the customer a refund, especially when it is obvious that you are dealing with someone with a low income who has a family to support. You should be ashamed of yourself and should really consider taking the word ‘care’ out of your name, because it is blatantly obvious that you could care less. In fact that should be your new title: NextCareless. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to never ever visit your highly inadequate and highly incompetent facility. I hope you go out of business, you thieves.

Pleasant, efficient, professional,
This was my first time visiting one of these facilities, but probably won’t be my last. I joined a pleasant and comfy, bright and sunny waiting room filled with crying kids in pajamas, coughing and sniffling folks, and people of all stripes in this beautiful glass-​walled medical building on the East side of 620, just South of 183.
It’s a most unusual building, sunny and airy and light, unlike most doctor’s offices. The treatment rooms surround a huge atrium, with 2-​story walls, the top half made of glass, so the effect is like being treated at the beach. In fact the central nurses station has a beach umbrella over it to shade them and the computers from the incoming sun.
After some preliminary paperwork, and delivery of my insurance co-​pay, I waited approximately 45 minutes before a medical technician called my name. I was whisked back to a clean, comfortable treatment room, with flat-​screen TV (showing the birth of a baby elephant while I was there), vital signs were taken, a basic history of my complaint, and in about 5 minutes Dr. Anderson appeared. She was pleasant, thorough and when I explained that my doctor had closed his practice and I was between physicians, offered to renew my regular prescriptions in addition to handling my major complaint, a chest cold.
15 minutes later I had a sheaf of recommendations for a new physician, a prescription for what I now know is bronchitis, and renewals of my regular middle-​aged guy meds. She even ordered me new Epi-​Pens for my bee sting allergy, and advised me to dump the OTC inhaler I had been using once in a while (BronkAid Mist) as it was not good for people with borderline high blood pressure. She replaced it with a milder safer variety.
In all, a most pleasant trip to the doctor. I would return for any routine treatment, or even «routine emergency.»
