Self-taught as a jewelry designer, Melissa opened her jewelry studio in the Mission district of SF in 1999. In 2005 she received an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and moved back to Houston to establish Melissa Borrell Design.

She has won numerous awards for her jewelry designs and has work published in the 500 Necklaces juried by Marjorie Schick and Tangible: High Touch Visuals published by Gestalten, Berlin. Business Owner

Melissa’s interest in jewelry stems from a desire to engage people in her artwork. By making interactive pieces she emphasizes the idea that jewelry is transformed by the wearer and looks different when you put it on from when you are not wearing it.
