I’m from NYC, with NY plates. I was subletting during December to check out Austin and my 1991 Nissan PU truck developed a very distressing engine rattle. Naturally, I was really concerned about finding an excellent and honest mechanic. Freaked in fact because though being on the road is a thrill in adventure, I was also vulnerable as an outsider. Plus my truck, though an champ is an OLD champ and finding old school mechanics who are artists in attitude is getting harder and harder.
These guys were great. What they found was extremely particular, spot on and not nearly as horrible as I was catastrophizing. They just cut to the chase, nailed it spot on, didn’t dick me around, treated me like just as much a human being as any long time loyal customer, and I was out of there. I’m now in Athens GA, heading back home in a few weeks. It’s been more than a month since they fixed an injector wire that was crumbling, and Bessie is still purring.
I also want to add that I’m a woman, middle aged, not exactly average but still, there was no digression into cultural stereotypes of middle aged women being invisible. It’s nice to be treated as equal and with respect.

These guys are awesome and honest!!! This is my go to place for sure!

I will absolutely be coming back here when needed. They’re the kind of shop you hope to find. Honest, knowledgeable and game to bend over backwards to help you get the job done. Can’t recommend them enough.

I was getting my car serviced at the Jiffy Lube next door when something went wrong and I wasn’t able to restart my car. James at Leonard’s was incredibly kind and generous with his time and pulled my car into the garage where they took care of me, no problem. Y’all have a customer for life, I’m so grateful!

Fixed my rotors on the front wheel after looking my VW car up and down and not finding the issue I thought was there, they found the actual issue and didn’t charge me for the diagnostics /​gave me a little discount at the end. Car has been running great since, thanks guys! They have a certified VW mechanic on staff, just as an FYI for fellow Volkswagen owners. New mechanic, check.

These guys are so great. I had completely over filled my tire and they just came and helped me and charged me nothing just to be good a Samaritan I recommend.

Absolutely terrible. Sold me a part that was 3x the list price everywhere. Charge for diagnostics when plenty of other places do that for free. Insanely overpriced for everything; you are definitely just paying for their rent here. Their tagline, «Doing honest business» is a farce.

I had such an amazing experience with Leonard’s. They were all so friendly and service was quick for me to get in an out during my lunch break. They ran my car through the wash too which was an unexpected bonus. I am happy I found them!

While driving to Austin from Houston the AC in my car died. I was in Austin for 4 days on business and decided to try and get the car fixed while I was there instead of waiting to get home. I found Leonard’s on Google — they had good reviews so I decided to give them a try. I am glad I did. I dropped the car off in the morning and they gave me a ride back to my hotel. From that point on, they kept me informed on what was going on. There was a minor hiccup with the part — the wrong one was shipped but they ordered a new one overnight and got my car fixed when I needed it. Everyone there was friendly, courteous and informative. I highly recommend Leonard’s Garage.

I’m not one who takes much time to maintain their vehicle. I have a 2007 Scion Tc that Id rather sell than clean if that says much. My vehicle was in desperate need of serious attention. Tires were shot, check engine light on, oil change over due, and my exterior and exterior were filthy. I was under the impression that I may need new brakes as well as I may possibly be low on every fluid. I was dreading the cost for repair. I’m always on a tight schedule so taking my car on for maintenance would mean taking off of work. They were open at 7am to take my drop off, they offered a ride however I took and über there and back due to my strict schedule.
The outcome couldn’t have been better. They gave me an honest quote and called for permission of spend. They fixed what was wrong rather than tacking on items such as breaks that I had assumed were shot and wouldn’t know the difference. They provided me with a discount and when I received my car back it was CLEAN! Inside and out, new tires, valve cover replaced, all warning lights were off, my oil change sticker was even personalized with my name and their phone number to schedule my next appointment.
When I went to check out they even paid for my über and pick up was exactly on schedule.
I couldn’t be happier and I would highly recommend this auto shop to anyone.

The customer service here is all the way top notch. I have an old ford, and I could tell right away they had experience with classic cars. There were three other classics on the lifts when I came in, all of them nicer than mine. Both in front and back of house, staffed by a bunch of good dudes.

I took my car here to get a second opinion on my brakes. Brake Specialists down the street originally told me there was nothing wrong, but my brakes kept making an awful noise.
Leonard’s was able to promptly diagnose the problem and fixed it in less time than was initially quoted. The pricing was very reasonable too — and I got a free car wash from the place next door (Bonus!).
After the work had been done, Leonard shook my hand. I thought that was very nice of the owner to do. Then I received a nice card in the mail a few days later.
These people know what Customer Services is, and I highly recommend taking your car here for any services.

Nicest, most helpful dudes ever!
Had a breakdown after hours, left my car and key overnight. Called first thing in the am and they already had answers for me! Great at keeping customers up to date and honest about issues.
They also cleaned my car at no additional charge.

These guys are simply amazing! I had issues with my ’02 VW Jetta and had been to a few places already trying to get a good diagnosis. Finally I took it to Leonard’s and they spent 1hr looking at it for free, then it was determined I needed a smoke test (something another shop had told me) so they did it. Also found out that a belt was off (the dealership hasn’t put it back on correctly) and offered to fix that for free too! They cleaned out my issue, no additional charges other than the diagnostic. And they give a free car wash.

Went in for an oil change. They completed the job way faster than I thought it would take, and even offered to vacuum the interior for me. I really appreciated the service and the workers here. Will definitely return!

Man, this review is a long time coming. The guys at Leonard’s are simply amazing. They exceed my expectations every time I visit, but I’ll just write about my most recent experience.
The exterior lights on my 2010 VW were going haywire (blinkers and headlights working intermittently) which didn’t seem to fit with what I would otherwise assume to be a bad bulb or fuse. After consulting with Brandon over the phone, I took it to Leonard’s so they could take a look. After looking at it for about 3 hours, the problem wasn’t readily apparent and he said they would need longer to make a diagnosis. At this time, Brandon suggested that I take it to VW, as there was a chance that a VW specialist might be able to diagnose a bit quicker (no guarantee), and he didn’t want to risk wasting my time or money. First off, I think it was great that Brandon was so honest about the situation that he made a suggestion which would’ve costed them business. This definitely made me feel taken care of. Ultimately, I left it with them, as I was tired of dealing with it and I just wanted the job done, one way or another.
Meanwhile, I called the dealership from which I purchased my vehicle (on a hunch, they were shady from the get-​go), only to find out that the recall that had been placed on my make and model had not been resolved (contrary to what they told me when I purchased the vehicle). Sure enough, my electrical problem was a direct result of the recalled part on my vehicle. Super.
I called Leonards back to let them know about my findings, (at this point, my vehicle had been under their care for about 5 hours), so they told me to come pick it up, as VW would be able to repair it for free due to the recall. Given the amount of time and resources they put into trying to diagnose my vehicle, I expected to pay AT LEAST $ 100 between the diagnostics and cost of labor. However, when I picked it up, Brandon insisted that I not pay a dime for their time. I can’t imagine another shop that wouldn’t charge anything for that much labor. This experience was a testament to their honesty and their commitment to maintaining the trust of their customers. Way to go Leonards!!!

Leonard ‘s Garage is a great place to go honest people with reasonable prices, our whole family goes here, my nephew had a old car with lots of trouble and everywhere he went it was overpriced. Leonard’s fixed him up and at half the price of the other shops. A big thank you to the owner for his kindness!

I have been to Leonard’s twice and had a great experience each time. They worked quickly, consulted with me about car part options, and even taxied me home while they worked on it. Cheaper synthetic oil change than most. Would recommend.
to UPDATE my review: my beetle volkswagen was condemned at Leonard’s as they told me it would cost $ 2500 to fix my AIR CONDITIONER. The labor costs at this place, to say the least are ridiculous… Wont be going back

I went here on a recommendation from a local, but small-​time mechanic. He was unable to complete the work on my vehicle-​due to the tools needed.
Leonard’s was very welcoming, polite, and most of all, did excellent work. The prices are good. You won’t leave here feeling like you got the best deal or the worst deal, but in this case, you get what you pay for… and it is a lot.
I am an avid «car guy» and do most of the routine maintenance and cleaning on my vehicles. I know what I am looking at and how a job should be done.
We have used them a half dozen times for various jobs, all the way up to a full brake job. I will continue to support them as they are honest, polite, and the owner truly cares about your experience.

Well, since last wrote my review the management has changed again, back to the original store manager. Things have improved DRASTICALLY! I’m holding off on putting my review back to 5 stars until I have had a few more visits, but so far so good. They even gave me my last oil change free when I went back in there. Only reason I even went back was because I had some credits to use. Glad I did. Brandon is an awesome manager and person. I’m excited to start taking my cars here again.
Another update… while the better manager is working here the techs in the garage are still crooks. I was told I Needed about $ 3k worth of work on my car. A second opinion revealed that was not the case. I in fact needed NOTHING done. Even though I have a service credit here I will not be going back.
