State inspections have always been a long wait, so having to wait is expected. My wait was about what I expected, on the longer side, not kwik, but that’s okay. Along with the inspection were upsells that I have not experienced at other places. The first may be reasonable: they claimed my battery amps were not up to the rated amps on the battery label. I don’t think most batteries stay at the rating except for a brand new battery. But okay, maybe my battery is going to die soon. However, the second was a bit egregious: they said my serpentine belt is aging and worn and I should consider replacing it. When I asked why, he shown his flashlight in and said because it is not dark black in color; it’s only gray in color. I personally changed my serpentine belt only a few months ago.

I’ve visited this business several times over the past five years– usually to get my inspection sticker. In the past, the staff seemed disheveled, often smelling of pot or alcohol.
I hadn’t visited in a while, but really needed an inspection done today– what a change! The gentlemen who greeted me was friendly, informative, and helpful. The waiting room/​lobby is cheerful and clean. The inspection took slightly longer than they initially said it would, but they very politely came in to let me know.
I will definitely feel more comfortable visiting this business in the future.

A couple days ago, they replaced the gas cap for my Dodge Avenger and they accidentally put in the wrong size. We went in to get the issue resolved.
They got right on it — ordered the part and fixed it. Rafael, the manager, was apologetic and provided excellent customer service. They were relatively busy on a Friday afternoon, but we only waited for about 20 minutes for everything.
We will be returning to Kwik Kar Automotive with all of our vehicles.

Took my car in for a brake check because my rear brakes were making an awful sound. The brake check was free and took about 20 minutes. Rafael, the manager on duty, thoroughly went through the results and gave me his opinion on services needed with no pushy up-​sales. New rotors, brake pads and inspection were taken car of in less than 2 hours and less than $ 350. Everyone was extremely helpful and I will definitely be back for any future maintenance needs!

Consistent, great service. I feel confident that they are honest in pricing and just want what’s best for the vehicle. All of the mechanics are kind and helpful. Noah was especially great and took the time to explain everything in detail. I recommend this location to anyone in the North Austin area who needs an oil change or any other car service.

My name is Austin and I recently went to go in for an oil change and inspection. I delt with one guy there as soon as I pulled up he greeted me with a smile on his face and was very professional throughout. I believe his name was Ethan, he politely asked what I needed and took initiative to tend to my needs immediately. As I waited they have a nice coffee brewer in the lobby as well as a T.V. so you aren’t waiting in awkward silence, so that was nice! About 10 minutes later my oil change had been completed, he then called me back there, took me step by step through what had been done, topped off fluids etc. he also showed me my new oil on the dipstick which was very assuring that proper maintenance had been done to my vehicle. He politely informed me what I should look for in future miles ahead. He also noticed that my I inspection was near its expiration date, which was AWESOME, because I had no idea and that may have saved me from a ticket! So I had him do an inspection as well about another 10 minutes or so which was very quick compared to the other kwik kar I used in previous inspections and oil changes. So from now on I know where I will be going, especially because I will need a brake job done in the near future! So I will most defiantly be going back to this kwik car. You instantly get a feeling of trust and security with the workers here.

Ethan and Kwik Kar gave me a great deal on new brake pads and rotors. I had called around after getting quoted $ 350 down the street and Ethan hooked it up at $ 275! Took about an hour. If you are not a car expert and you are worried about getting a fair deal, go to kwik kar on Parmer!

Quick and easy. Went there for a full oil change and a state inspection. The whole thing cost around 57 bucks. Had to wait a little; but even factoring in waiting time, I got my car back in about 40 minutes.

I had a surprisingly great experience with this store! I ended up there by default because the other place I had gone to couldn’t fit me in. So, I honestly went there just for the convenience of it. My car was making an awful noise and I knew it was the brakes, so for safety’s sake, I stopped in for a brake inspection. Upon arriving, the owner (yep…the owner) walked out to my car to greet me and ask what I needed that day. I mentioned a tire rotation and he walked around my car and said «I really don’t think you need the rotation right now– your best tires are where they should be». Honesty and concern for a client, not making money! They inspected the brakes and sure enough, I needed new back brakes. I was hesitant to have it done just because I’ve had so many poor experiences with smaller shops like this. I decided to move forward with it because the prices really weren’t bad and I was risking more damage by driving it more. Rafael did the work on my car and he couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. He also had great knowledge of everything he worked on and answered all of my questions thoroughly while showing me the issues. The owner has vehicles the customers can take to get back to work while their vehicle is being worked on OR they’ll drop you off/​pick you up. The owner dropped me off at work and one of the employees promptly picked me up when my car was finished. I hadn’t had that experience before– it was so easy and convenient! Everyone in the shop had a great attitude, and showed genuine concern for the customers. Apparently this owner is new. Whatever he’s doing… keep it up! Felt really taken care of overall and I wasn’t expecting it. Grateful!

This place is quick, clean and convenient even though they don’t use any paper floor mats or plastic seat covers to protect your vehicle from grease. they were not horrible. I do find it hilarious that the technician pushed a service on me (aka recommended) which i took understand advisement and purchased. And the very next customer that pulled in he did the exact same thing, pulled him aside and flashed his little light on his engine and requirements an additional service. Felt like a scam but they are reasonable quick changing the oil.

Been taking both our vehicles here for years. The service is friendly and FAST! They don’t try to pressure or haggle you to buy more like jiffy lube. They also have perks for return customers. After 8 oil changes you get one for free!

Beginning March 1^st, we don’t need to renew our inspection if the registration not expired. I didn’t know and I went to kwik on March 6. My car was failed and they still charged me. Until March 19, my friend told me I don’t Need to do inspection until my registration is expired which is 2016. My point is why they didn’t tell me at the beginning and still charged me $ 18.50? And now I have to pay another inspection free when my registration is expired? At all,. I’m really disappointed of Kwik. They even want to earn that $ 18.50 and was being not honest to me.

Seriously, thank you Kwik Kar!!! I wish I had gotten the name of the blonde guy that greeted me this evening. I’ve never been in a shop where the guys who work there are so friendly and professional! I had the WORST luck trying to find a place to get my car inspected today, and the gentleman who greeted me went out of his way to make sure he was able to help me, even though they were closing soon. Kwik Kar is DEFINITELY my official car place now!

Their sign says pull up and wait for an attendant. But they’ll just sit there and look at you like you’re stupid!

Being a girl who knows only the basics about cars, and their maintenance, I am always skeptical when I have to take my car in for anything. I always prepare for the pitches to have all kinds of additional work done or the up-​sells.
These guys are always SO nice and explain anything I need to know in terms I can understand. =)
I never feel pressured into anything. The work is quick and definitely quality!

These guys lack professionalism and customer service. They left an oil filter wrench somewhere under my hood, which I discovered when I pulled into my driveway, after a loud «thud» I discovered their wrench.
A couple of weeks after my oil change I was leaking oil all over my garage and driveway. I took my vehicle to Firestone where they discovered the filter had not been placed properly causing it to wiggle loose and subsequently leak oil everywhere.
The Kwik Kar lube team was fast and affordable. However, after $ 75 to Firestone for diagnostics and a proper oil change, plus the cost incurred to clean the oil off of my drive and garage floor I came out in the red in the long run.
When I returned the filter wrench to Kwik Kar all I got was a «oh…haha. Thanks».
I will definitely be using Firestone in the future for their customer service and accuracy in service.

I had my oil changed here and the service was great! I came on slow day and it took 15 minutes, plus they vacuum the front interior. Friendly and helpful service I highly recommend!

Just to get this out of the way– I didnt actually get my car repaired here.
Also let me preface this by saying that yes, I’ve been known to do stupid things. C’est la vie.
So I’d broken my windshield wiper on the driver’s side. Like, the whole damn thing. I need the entire assembly. I head up to Austin Zone just down the road, and get some new wipers from them, but they say that they dont have the part. I ask, can they switch the passenger side assembly to the driver’s side? Yup, it can be done, but they dont have the part. They say to head over to Kwik Car just down the street.
There were 2 guys there when I arrived– Cody and Eric. Awesome guys! They dont have the part either, apparently I have to go to a junkyard to find it, BUT they switch the passenger to the driver’s side so at lease I can drive in the rain. Yay!
Most importantly, they did it with professionalism, quickly, and with a smile. AND they didnt even charge me anything for their time. Thank you, Cody and Eric! Great customer service!
