Karen E. Frazer, DDS

I’ve been seeing Dr. Frazer for quite a few years now. She is an exceptionally skilled dentist with a solution for every possible dental challenge. She also knows how to wield technologies not just for technology’s sake but for more accuracy in treating the patient. She understands that each patient is an individual with their own specific set of needs. No less important, Dr. Frazer is super smart, funny, and personable. It would be remiss of me not to mention that her staff, from the dental hygienist to the front-​desk, pursue the same values of excellence. Finally, the facility is beautiful and charmingly decorated, another expression of the pride they take in their business. I have to thank Dr. Milner, DDS, in Northwest Austin, who made the recommendation to Dr. Frazer when I moved to a new location. — VS

I’ve been going to Karen Frazer for about 7 years and she and her staff are the best I have ever experienced. They are gentle, thoughtful, very prompt, and communicate extremely well. I truly feel like I’m being taken care of by friends. Everyone should be as lucky as I am regarding their dentist.

i have always had the worst luck with dentist. But everyone in Dr. Frazer’s crew listen to my concerns and was able to get quality service without breaking the bank.

Dr. Frazer is a good dentist but since I had a horrible experience, I cannot give more than one star. Her office mgr/​receptionist answered the phone when I initially called for info. I’m new to Austin, so my first question was whether or not they take my insurance. She said yes so I scheduled an appointment to have my wisdom teeth removed. After a consultation we went forward with the surgery. My husband also took the day off to take me since I couldn’t drive after surgery. When we arrived, the same receptionist asked for a $ 400 payment. We were confused so she explained that I needed additional anesthesia that needs to be paid for up front. She explained that we could submit if for payment and get reimbursed. It sounded strange but since we had both taken the time off and she made it sound so common, we trusted her and went on with procedure. We called the insurance company to find out how to get our reimbursement and they explained that Dr. Frazer was not in our network. They said we could use her but they would give us a flat payment amount and we would have to cover the difference. They said the anesthesia is not covered and that if we had gone with a dentist in the network, they would have refused it and the dentist would have to write it off. When I called back, I was very angry and asked why I was originally lied to when asked if they worked with my insurance provider. She explained that she didn’t lie because I hadn’t asked if they were in the network specifically. I had only asked if they worked with my insurance, which technically they can. I would just have to be billed personally and then request payment from insurance. I asked her why I would have gone through all of that for a dentist I had never even been to. Sg e sais she didn’t kniw. I told the mgr/​receptionist that she was a fraud and she hung up on me after saying that if I didn’t pay, she’d sue me. My insurance provider said that she was being sneeky by answering that way. After that, I called several other dentists and asked specifically if they worked with my insurance. They ALL stated that they were not in the network. I told them that Dr. Frazers office said yes eventhough I wasn’t in network and they all agreed that it was misleading. They said they all specify for the customer. BEWARE of their misleading language. I have never had this promblem with another doctors office. I thought about witholding payment but ended up paying to avoid a small claims suit. I felt scammed by them and it was a horrible experience.

I have been a patient for five years. Dr Frazier is great and the staff is excellent. They clean my teeth, fillings, and crowns. They take my insurances and the appointment process is easy. Best dentist office I have ever found.

I’m surprised Dr. Frazer doesn’t already have lots of reviews. She and her fabulous team have been helping me heal and maintain my dental health for 4 years now. I can’t recommend them enough!
I was without dental insurance for many, many years and couldn’t afford regular check-​ups. If you haven’t been to the dentist in years, GO! Go to any dentist! It will restore your peace of mind!
Dr. Frazer is a down-​to-​earth person, easy to talk to, but very advanced in her profession. She has all the latest equipment and somehow makes all the work PAINLESS (I am not kidding, I got a CROWN today!!). She’s involved in community organizations and she feels more like a really good neighbor than the old image of a mean dentist! Everyone at Dr. Frazer’s office really cares about their patients.
Please visit them if you are shopping for a dentist for you & your family. They’re in South Austin and worth a trip across town.
