I went here to get a quote to fix some oil leaks on a 1968 Ford F-​250. He said he could put new oil pan gasket, front and rear main seals, valve cover gaskets, and intake gasket for $ 4000! I didn’t say it to his face, but that is the most unbelievable quote I have ever received, Even with pulling the motor. I also got quotes from 3 different reputable shops to rebuild the whole motor, and they were all less than this crook wanted to charge to throw some gaskets on the engine. I will never return, and if you know the value of a dollar, you would be better off not stepping foot in his shop. Just because they are good old boys, doesn’t mean that they aren’t ripping people off. They may do good work, but a lot of other shops do good work too.

I have brought all my vehicles to Jerry for YEARS. Everything from a 40 foot diesel motor home to a Jeep. ALWAYS got the best of service. Everything got repaired right the first time. But, honesty is Dixon Automotive’s biggest selling point. They charge a fair price for their repair work; you never have the feeling that you’ve been «taken to the cleaners.» Even though Jerry has passed on, those same attributes continue with the Dixons, Kay, Kelly, and Aaron.

My girlfriend suggested that I take my 2001 Ford Expedition to Jerry Dixon’s and I have never been happier about anyplace that has ever worked on any of my cars, ever. This businesses is a True Gem that is so rare to find these days. I had a leak in my Air Conditioner system that a previous repair shop could not find.
Tom, one of their long time master mechanics, tracked down the leak in 30 minutes while I waited. They let me know that the entire compressor assembly needed to be replaced and gave me a very fair estimate for the parts and labor.
I had planned to work remotely in their lobby until my girlfriend could pick me up at lunch. While I waited, I witnessed a stream of longtime and loyal customers stream into their office. Jerry and his wife knew each of these people by their first names and the events in their lives. None of these customers would ever think of taking their cars anywhere else.
I overheard Jerry say that he has been working on cars for 52 years. In that time, I doubt he has ever lost many customers. He was extremely fair with each person that came in and bent over backwards to make sure that each was treated fairly. The customers asked about Jerry’s health and his family.
Tom realized that it was going to take the whole next day to finish the repair on my car. They offered to give me a ride to wherever I needed to go, but I declined.
The next day, after Tom had dug into the A/​C compressor issue, he discovered that a main coolant line had a major leak caused by rubbing against a bracket. He hoped that perhaps this was the only leak, which would have been a cheaper repair. He called me and discussed it with me. To find out, it would take time to put it all together and test the system. He did this and discovered that the compressor system still had a leak. The Amazing thing is that he did Not charge me for the extra time and effort it took to make this test. Amazing!
This caused them to need to keep my vehicle one more night to finish the repair, but I was really happy with the care they were giving my car and how they kept me informed during the whole process.
This shop is famous amongst the classic car enthusiast crowd. They would never take their highly valuable collector cars to anyone else. In fact there was an $ 80,000 restored 68 Camaro on the lift and a $ 70,000 GTO next to it. I was getting the same sort of attention on my $ 3000 Expedition that these guys got, but still being undercharged for their time and effort.
When I got my car back the next day, they had also cleaned up and repaired a few other minor issues at no charge. They can’t help but do repairs right. It’s the way Jerry had always done business and his mechanics are just the same. They cleaned up my battery terminals, which were super corroded. They found and fixed a windshield wiper leak that had been driving me crazy, but that I hadn’t even mentioned to them. They ran diagnostics on my engine, because it was riding rough after driving through some flood waters a few days earlier. They did all these extras things at no extra charge.
When I got my car back, Tom gave me a tour of everything he did. I became another one of their life long customers after this first visit. I’ve never been to a shop that is so honest, takes so much care in each repair, charges less than they should and makes their customers feel so well taken care of. As I said in the beginning, this place is a rare gem. It’s very much a reflection of its owner’s character and kindness, Jerry Dixon.
Then Jerry’s grandson, who grew up in the shop, and now works there, helped me shuttle my vehicle to my girlfriends place 15 minutes away. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.

Jerry Dixon has been our family mechanic for 10+ years. Good service and they’re honest. The shop is clean. The location is a bit out of the way but worth the extra time. The owners are friendly, Jerry and his wife, especially. They specialize in classic cars if that’s your thing.

I took a classic mustang in for work as there aren’t many shops that will work on carburetors. Clean shop with lots of classics in various stages of repair.
Jerry is a nice guy but only has one guy that works on carbs. He had my car for over a month, and I spent $ 1600 in repairs.
I went to pick it up, it shouldn’t start and the check engine light was on. Obviously no one checked the mechanics work. It was very frustrating.
He kept the car another week and charged me another $ 400. Just wanting the car back, he had it for almost 2 months!, i drove off.
Ended up the tech didn’t do a good job on the carb and it was leaking fuel, they said they did a tune up also. No new air filter? Basic stuff here.
I will never go back and will not recommend this shop to anyone.

There are those rare times you find a mechanic that is honest and has your best interest at heart. Jerry is not only very knowledgeable and has provided insight about my vehicle when others couldn’t but he TRULY cares about you. The minute you meet him with his warm smile and presence, he could seem to be your family’s minister and #1 confidant.
I have owned many vehicles and many had «issues». All the mechanics I’ve experienced pale in comparison when it comes to Jerry’s integrity. Send your mothers, sisters, daughters and girlfriends and know they will be well taken cared of. I have friends and family that drive all the way from Lakeway and I am hesitant to move myself… They are that good!

My family has been going to Jerry for 12+ years. He and the entire staff are extremely knowledgeable and have no problem spending the time to explain it to me. Many times I’ve called with a «car emergency» and Jerry has always been quick to help. They really like what they do, which is a huge plus for me. I’ve always found their pricing to be very reasonable, and I will definitely continue giving them my business!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Dixon. My car basically crapped out and I took it to Mr. Dixon (across the street from Oak Hill Fire Station 301). He not only got it running good as new but he did it quickly and the cost was not nearly as much as I thought it would be. Mr. Dixon runs the shop and Mrs. Dixon runs the office — these people are the nicest folks you’d ever hope to meet. Seriously, I’m trying to figure out a way to get them to adopt me they are so great. The minute you walk in, you can tell they know what they are doing. Mr. Dixon has been in business for a long time and he knows it well. He answered all of my questions and listened to me make funny noises as I described the problem (he never laughed once…) and then explained everything he did when I picked the car up (the next day, I might add.) Tommy, one of the mechanics, drove my car around in circles for hours trying to get the car to reproduce a noise that I promise I heard. Of course, it never did it again but hey, fine by me. Good people, good service. I highly recommend them.
