Apex Home Inspection

I have used Chris of Apex Home Inspections numerous times. Chris Nowling is the most knowledgable and informed inspector I have ever met or hired. He stays abreast of changes in building codes, and has tireless energy to go over every inch of a home. He is always on time or early for his appointments. When he inspects a home I know that my Buyers will know that house inside and out for better or worse. This allows them to make informed decisions on whether or not to continue with the purchase. I have used Chris when I purchased my own home and he found things that were not obvious to either of us. His new Thermal Imaging gun is a fantastic tool. It allows you to «see «through the sheetrock to find missing insulation. I am confident when Chris is on the job that the report will be very detailed, lengthy, full of photos of any problems. While that can scare some buyers, its always better to know what your getting. Plus he will sit down with the Buyer and go over each item he found that is a problem. This makes for a truely informed buyer. I have not found another inspector that does this. Most inspectors just hand you the report and take your check. Chris is aces in my opinion and I personally would not buy a home without him.

I had Chris come out to inspect our house based on the all the great reviews on this site. I have to say that because of him and his thermal imaging camera, he was able to detect moisture behind a wall and saved us lots of money due to him finding a major leak coming in through the chimney. We wouldn’t have known until it was too late. No other inspector would have caught it with their naked eye because the wall looked fine. He also was very educational as he explained everything made me feel like I really knew the house and what I was getting myself into.
If you want to make sure that your house is thoroughly inspected, I would look no further than Apex. I have recommended him to so many people and I will use them again in any future inspections.

Steve was awesome. He showed up on time, the very next day after I called needing a home inspection. He was extremely thorough, and patient with our numerous questions. He e-​mailed us a very thorough report that very same afternoon, with pictures and detailed explanations. Price was right. I would definitely use this company again.
However, he did not have a tall enough ladder to get on the roof of our two-​story home, so did not inspect the roof. As it turns out, the first time we had a hard rain (several months later), the roof leaked badly and we had water running down the interior wall on one side of the house! The company we had come out to do the roof repair said it looked like the roof had not been sealed along that side. Something Steve would have (should have) noticed, if he’d been properly prepared with a ladder.

I really WANTED to have the same experience as the rest of the reviewers here, but Apex has apparently let all the good reviews go to their head. Maybe they’ve just gotten too busy and instead of raising the price to handle the demand they’ve instead reduced service. Whatever the case, my experience wasn’t so great.
First, the lady the answered the phone sounded like she was, as my fiancée lovingly put, archaic. She had a very difficult time hearing anything and made me spell out virtually everything l-​e-​t-​t-​e-​r-​b-​y-​l-​e-​t-​t-​e-​r. Then she told me she couldn’t have an inpector come out without a CBS code because the property had a lockbox. I explained thoroughly that we’d be there to let him in but she insisted repeatedly that they get the code off of the lockbox before he gets there (which makes no sense to me). Then she demanded the full contact information for my realtor and the listing agent before scheduling an appointment. She literally told me to call her back when I had it.
Additionally, we were *threatened* with a $ 100 re-​trip fee if the gas wasn’t turned on, versus being *informed* about it and we never did get to speak to one of the inspectors — just this demanding lady that should probably take up a position answering phones at a property management company (I’m almost certain they get paid to tell tenants all day to get fucked).
I ended up canceling my appointment with them. If you can’t be accommodating when I’m trying to give you my business I don’t want to have to deal with getting the inspector on the phone a week later when I have a question about the report.

We called for a home inspection prior to listing our house for sale. We wanted to know any issues that we may need to address before they came to the attention of a buyer.
Chris Nowling came to inspect our home. Chris was extremely thorough, professional, and helpful. He even utilized a thermal imaging video camera to detect a small section where insulation was missing from inside the wall. He understood why we wanted the inspection and talked with us honestly about which things may/​may not need to be fixed prior to sale. He also offered great advice on potential remedies for some things.
I would not hesitate to work with him again, and do highly recommend him.

Chris Nowling is very knowledgeable and his service continues beyond the inspection. He came to my house to do an end of warranty (new home) inspection. I wanted to make sure that my builder did not skimp on anything prior to my warranty expiring.
Chris is professional, courteous and knows his stuff. He found many things wrong with my home that the builder is now fixing. When the builder questioned items on his report, Chris even spoke to the builder as well as city inspectors on my behalf. He is a fantastic guy and worth every penny.

We bought our first home recently and used Apex Inspections. Even though the builder had a ‘third party inspector’ who inspected the house, which was really more like a walk though, we felt more comfortable having someone come in and test everything for us.
Steve was nice, polite, and most of all THOROUGH. He tested every electrical outlet, faucet, and all our appliances. He went up on the roof, in the attic, outside in the mud… he did everything we expected of him and more. Best of all, as other people have mentioned, they print the report right then and there for you, walk you through it, and email a copy to you too.
I would HIGHLY recommend this company. Even though our house was brand new, we felt so much better after having this inspection done. And he did find a few things that needed attention, well worth the money!

Hubby and I are buying our first house and even though it was pre-​inspected and looked to be in great condition, we called Chris over at APEX for our own inspection.
Chris checked out everything in excruciating detail, inside and out. We followed him around a bit, but mainly let him do his thing while we sat in the kitchen and chatted with our Realtor. We did have a blast checking out his thermal imaging camera, which he uses to look for heat leaks, moisture in the walls, etc. SUPER FREAKIN’ COOL!
After he was done, Chris printed out the report and went over all of his findings in detail. There were a couple of very minor repairs for us to do, but nothing major, and was happy to tell us which we could do ourselves and which we should see a professional for.
Overall a great experience and no more expensive than other folks we got quotes from.

I did it. I bought a house. Somewhere between the excitement of having my very own place where I can paint the walls any crazy color I want and feeling like I was going to throw up at the thought of handing someone a check for $ 10,000 I got the home inspected. Enter Chris Nowling of Apex Home Inspection.
I showed up for the inspection about 15 minutes before our appointment and Chris had already finished most of the exterior inspection. Inspections take a long time, I was there about 2.5 hours, and the fact that I didn’t have to spend another 30 minutes to an hour outside in July was a plus for me.
Chris was really thorough and answered all my questions from what the point of some of the repairs was, to an estimate of how much they would cost me to fix, and even helped me prioritize them. Apex also does termite inspections so I recommend having them check that out for you too. They don’t do treatment so you know they’re not going to say you need treatment just to get some additional business.
At the end of the inspection Chris printed out his report right then and there and walked me through everything in it. He also emailed soft copies to my Realtor and myself and told me to call him if I thought of any questions later on.
This was the first home inspection I’ve ever had so I can’t compare it to anything else but this was definitely a positive experience and I hope that Apex Home Inspection is still around next time I’m in the market for a house.

I recently bought a home and used Apex Home Inspectors for my… well, home inspection.
During the home buying process we have had to hire two home inspectors and APEX was by FAR the best home inspector we had come across. They really walked us through everything about our home, they were VERY thorough, and really friendly.
