I went to Dr Lamour for a callous on the bottom of my foot that I was worried was a wart, or something worse. He was able to take care of the problem in 2 visits.
Regardless of anything else, I was really taken aback by his bedside manner. He was TOO familiar with me, like we’d had romantic interlude once, years before, and we had some sort of rapport together that made it okay to heckle and tease me. I even had a male friend with me at the time. I would have been WAY more uncomfortable if I’d been alone.
I want to clarify that he didn’t come on to me or touch me inappropriately, he just had no professionalism, and spoke over me, and in a far too familiar way. He went at my foot without much regard to my comfort level and his proximity to me with sharp, pointy objects while calling me out on my choice of footwear.
Were I to need a foot doctor again, I would NOT return.

Unilocal is not yet big on doctors, but it should be. If I had read the reviews on Unilocal about Dr. LaMour before I went, I would have not gone. i did not read them, so I went and had the same bad experience that everyone else did. I felt like a cow being milked for money. Dr. Lamour was willing to sell you and bill you for a multitude of treatments that got no result. His staff is rude, and he is quick to defend them. I am changing Dr’s, to see if I get a different result, regardless, I will find a Dr. That doesn’t see me and my insurance company as a milk cow.

I went to Dr. Lamour after seeing a Dr. in Dallas (Rated #1 in D Magazine) that was unable to diagnose the problems that I was having. I work in Property Management & am always on my feet. I had severe plantar fasciitis in my right foot painful enough to the point of tears. Every exercise I was told to do in Dallas did nothing for me. I was back in Dallas one weekend visiting family and ended up getting x-​rays on a Friday afternoon bc of additional pain I was having on the inside of my right foot. This office told me there was nothing wrong with my foot and no sign of fractures. I returned to Austin in search of a new doctor and found Dr Lamour.
To start, he was concerned and sincere from the start. His entire office has been nothing but helpful, professional and wonderful about communicating with my insurance company. I have never felt rushed and I appreciate his thoroughness.
Turns out at 29 I have osteonecrosis in my right foot. This is usually seen in people in their 50’s and is in their hips. I definitely feel like if I had gone to any other Doctor that they would not had been able to diagnose this. Dr Lamour is the first doctor that listened to my symptoms instead of telling me to stretch my foot on a frozen water bottle or a tennis ball. Being in the customer service industry it is too often that someone will write a review based on a negative thought. People never write when something was life changing or beyond positive for them. I truly think that if I did not find Dr Lamour that I would be crippled by the time I reached my mid 30’s. Please keep in mind I am very healthy, do a lot of bikram yoga, eat right, get enough sleep and was unfortunate enough to get osteonecrosis. Other doctors would look at me and say, you are healthy just try to ice your foot.
Dr. Lamour realized I lost blood supply in my foot, that two bones had died, put me in contact with a rep to get an Exogen Bone Growth Machine from Smith & Nephew and on track to recovery. Though this machine is pricey it saved me from surgery and having bones cut out of my foot. I appreciate that he had me get an MRI to really find out what was causing this pain.
I cannot say enough positive things about this office. Thank you so much for everything. You have seriously gone above any beyond and I really appreciate it.

This review is based on my overall experience with Dr. LaMour’s office. I’ll try to give you the short version.
About six months ago, I was having some pain in my feet (mostly one arch & heel). After a couple of visits, we decided I needed custom molded orthotics. Dr. LaMour was, I believe, personally calling my insurance to make sure they covered this. I was told later that they did in fact cover them at 80%. So we went ahead. All was good. Pain mostly gone. Copays and co insurance amounts (20%) paid. All told, not cheap — and first the receptionist tried to charge ME the 80% instead of the 20% — but insurance made it bearable. A few weeks later I received a bill for the total amount of the orthotics! Not even taking the amount I had paid out of the equation, not to mention the part that insurance was said to have covered. A few calls to his staff assured me the situation would be resolved in-​house (their billing office is elsewhere — RED FLAG). I assumed they fixed it until today — when I received the bill again!
I see I’m not alone in this type of treatment. I wonder how Dr. LaMour (who seems to be a fine doctor) & company would feel about a class action lawsuit?

I went to Dr. Lamour to have him investigate a growth on my foot. After waiting about 30 minutes past my appointment time, he enters the room and is quick to look at my foot. All he did was poke the «growth» and he diagnosed me within 1 minute. He wanted to drain something that had nothing in it. Not only was it brief and a questionable diagnosis he was very short with me when I had questions. He wanted to drain it, but then informed me that there was an 80% chance of it coming back. He said he would have to do that a few times and we could possibly remove it later.
I’ve seen another doctor that took an x-​ray which would have seemed to be out of the question for LaMour.
I don’t recommend him if you don’t want to spend money on ineffective treatments or don’t like «money-​hungry» doctors.

I was a patient of Dr. Lamour from October 2009 until July 2010. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and he went through the standard fare for this diagnosis: wrap and exercise, neither of which helped me. In December he prescribed Celebrex and gave me a steroid shot in my foot. That hurt like the devil but I had a pain-​free Christmas, and remained pain-​free for a month. I had a second shot in February, and a third in May (you can only have three or else the fat pad in your heel breaks down). I was still in a great deal of pain by July so he decided on shockwave treatments. This is where I lost all faith in him. I was told that they wouldn’t be covered by insurance, but they gave me the billing code so I could check with United Healthcare anyway. I did, and to my surprise, they were going to cover it! Otherwise, I’d be looking at $ 1000 a treatment. These treatments did nothing for me, and I was referred to a physical therapist (whom I adored, and helped me tremendously). Fast forward to October. I received a bill from Dr. Lamour for $ 3000, the cost of the shockwave treatments. I called United Healthcare and asked why they didn’t cover it after they said they would. They had notes from my earlier call, and as it turns out, Dr. Lamour’s staff gave me the wrong billing code. They gave me a code for shockwave treatment for kidneys! I called his office and they basically told me «tough crap, you’re stuck with the bill». I told them that this was in no way my fault, that they gave me the wrong code since there was no way I could have known this code on my own, and that it was their responsibility to pre-​cert a procedure like this anyway. They told me that *I* was responsible for calling insurance (since when is a patient responsible for this?). Well, I did call them but was given the wrong code by HIS office staff… and so the circle continued. I refused to pay a dime. They then sent me a bill for $ 300 (a 90% reduction) but I still refused to pay. I should also mention that on at least 10 occasions I paid an office copay when no office visit was billed to UHC. I called his office and informed him of his erroneous billing practices and my $ 300 bill magically disappeared.
Dr. Lamour is a bit flaky, his methods don’t work, and his office staff is out-​to-​lunch, even when they’re on the clock.

I have serious Toe Nail Fungus on all 10 of my toes and have been avoiding doing anything about it for awhile. Finally, after seeing a billboard on S. Lamar of Dr. LaMour’s Laser Treatment and a FREE consultation I decided to check it out.
The moment Dr. LaMour walked into the room he was at a seriously high level of intensity. He fired off all of my options for fungus treatment in rapid machine gun like succession punctuated at the end with an abrupt «Any questions?». I was stunned. His bed-​side manner was AWFUL!!!
Instead of following my gut I decided to go ahead and make an appointment for the Laser Treatment. On the day of my scheduled treatment, I received a phone call stating that Dr. LaMour had to reschedule because of a memorial service. They couldn’t call me sooner? I decided to find someone else. The doctor I found offered the same exact procedure which included 3 treatments for a total of $ 750. Dr. LaMour was going to charge me $ 1200 for 1 treatment and an additional $ 450 for a second treatment if needed.
Avoid going to this guy. He is not ice and charges way too much.

DO NOT DO THE LASER FUNGUS REMOVER! First, it costs about $ 800 and insurance does not cover it. Second, IT DOES NOT WORK. Do not waste your money!
I have been seeing him for over a year now (for the same problem). Time to find a new podiatrist! The other reviewers here are pretty much right on. Don’t go to him.

Well, I’ll try to make a very long story short. First off, don’t bother with laser treatment for toe nail fungus, it doesn’t work. My big toe on my left foot started to turn yellow on the corner after an injury where the nail almost came off about 5 years ago. I took care of it for many years and the fungus never really spread. Well, I decided to go in and have laser treatment done. He quoted me $ 900 dollars to treat the ONE toe. He told me that he would have to treat the other four on the same foot just to make sure (there’s nothing wrong with them), but I said fine. I came in the following week, he shaved my entire big toe down, which is what I think eventually caused the problem I have now, and did the laser treatment which took about 15 mins. He explained to me that I would need to put this nail ointment on it everyday twice a day, which I did religiously. He told me to come back in three months. In three months I come back and you can tell it’s beginning to spread to the bottom of my toenail. They even compared the before and after pics and it was very noticeable. He told me to continue doing what I was doing and come back in another three months. I come back and the toenail is completely yellow and coming off. He questioned whether I was using the ointment, in which I told him I never miss a day. He looked perplexed and told me to buy some over the counter Lamisil cream and use that on my nail and come back in three months!
I came back and it was clear that I was in much worse shape. My nail was thick yellow and the fungus had worked it’s way down to the cutical.
I asked him if we could do another treatment and he said that would cost another 4 – 500 dollars. I asked him what my other options were and he told me take a pill which may work, but I have to take a test to see if my liver can handle it, laser it again, remove the nail, or just walk away!!! After consideration, I said, «well, let’s remove it then». He told me that would be an addition 3-​$ 400 dollars for a 15 in procedure. He then rushed me out and told me to think about it and call him back.
Well, I’ve called his office 6 times and have left 6 messages with his staff, all of which said they’d have him call me back. No call. The last call I told them that I would lilke half my money back since my situation iis much worse and I’m out $ 1000. They told me if I understand that there’s no guarantee’s in medicine!
So I guess I’m out $ 1000 with a situation much much worse off. At least before the procedure it was just slightly discolored, now it’s thick and half way fallen off.

I saw Dr. Lamour for an ingrown toenail that I could not remove. He was a nice man, but I felt like he was an «out for money» type of doctor instead of an «I want to help you» type of doctor. There was a «funny» sign in the room that talked about things he would say and the bills he needed to pay, i.e. please come back for a follow-​up visit meant that he needed to pay his BMW bill. I’m sure it was just a joke, but things he kept saying made me feel like the sign was actually true. Also, he had given me shots in my toe to numb it and then left the room. While he was gone I had passed out, woke up, and yelled for a nurse five times as loud as I could. No one ever heard me! I will try to find another podiatrist the next time I need one.
