Cynthia J Mingea, MD

Dr. Mingea actually delivered me (21 years ago) and just delivered my son one year ago. She has delivered almost every cousin i have. She is so smart and professional. It is like she cares for her patients as family, not as patients. She truly is an inspiration. She is great at her job. I am so glad I was able to have my son delivered by her.
I mentioned over and over about how much I wanted to have a natural birth. (I was trying to avoid a cesarean.) She took care of me so that I was able to have a natural birth without an emergency c-​section. We had several problems during birth and she always kept me calm and made professional decisions. And I am so glad that she did!
If I have another baby, I will do anything I can to get her as my prenatal doctor! I would recommend her to any nervous momma-​to-​be; or any woman seeking a gynecologist.

Dr. Mingea is no doubt a good doctor, I had to discontinue visiting her simply because of the messed up billing department (only one person Norma was handling it), never available, never return your calls, rude, pushy, no clear information about bills, wrong billing, big headache to get hold of her, not ready to take any responsibility, not good at her job at all, communication was a big task and I had to call 100 times to get hold of her for one single bill question. Looks like there is a new person Debbie in billing who sounded nice. They definitely need to do something about hiring professional staff for billing to not cause stress to pregnant women. Now I am no more with this practice.

I chose Dr. Mingea when I was pregnant with my first child (who was born 3.5 months ago).
She was referred by my doctor and backed by Unilocal,so we made our first appointment with her. I had been told Dr. Mingea handles some incredibly complicated pregnancies so mine would be considered easy-​peasy for her office.
What I liked about Dr. Mingea was she was the person who saw us at every appointment (even the seemingly routine/​uneventful visits). In contrast, other doctor practices you may see the nurses at your appointments for 9 months and not see the doctor until you are in the delivery room.
I also liked there are only a few doctors in her practice so I had a short list of doctors who would possibly deliver my baby (compare to other practices where you could be delivered by one of 20+ doctors on a panel).
She was always helpful and patient with us. We felt comfortable asking awkward questions.
I’ve had friends whose doctors pressured them to induce labor to work better with the doctor’s schedule. Dr. Mingea seemed the opposite of that attitude — she didn’t even want to talk about inducing unless I was past my due date. Thankfully, my water did break!
When my water broke at midnight, I called their number and Dr. Mingea called me right back to say she was alerting the hospital I’d be there that night/​morning.
Dr. Mingea was the doctor who delivered my baby, which is probably just fabulous luck she was on call, but either way — we had such a comfortable experience being with her from early pregnancy to delivery!
We had also been informed by our birthing class that the doctors do not usually arrive until moments before the actual delivery. In contrast to that information, Dr. Mingea showed up several times throughout my 16-​hour delivery to check in and make sure baby and I were progressing. She seemed very present throughout my birth.
Our Labor and Delivery Nurse also told me she had a baby herself only a few months prior and she, too, chose Dr. Mingea as her doctor. I think it says a lot even our delivery nurse chose Dr. Mingea (the Labor and Delivery Nurses probably know better than anyone which doctors are great.)
I should also mention we LOVED St. David’s. Everyone in the hospital is ON POINT. Nurses, lactation specialists — we were impressed constantly.
I recommend Dr. Mingea and her office.

I called and scheduled an appointment a week away. The day before my appointment I get a confirmation text of my appointment. Later that afternoon a private number calls me and leaves a voice mail that my appointment has been canceled and I need to reschedule. I call the office back, and the lady acted like i was just a bother. She said my appointment has been canceled and Dr. Mingea is booked until June and the next appointment is June 3^rd or something. FYI, that is 2 months away. So I said, that’s almost 2 months away, I’ll call someone else, thanks. Sure enough, I call OBGYN of Austin and they have an appointment opening 2 days later. My mom told me great things about Dr. Mingea but also mentioned the initial appointment is hard to get. I have zero tolerance for not knowing how to schedule people and then acting like they’re nothing but a bother when they call. Unfortunately Dr. Mingea will not be getting my business whether it is her fault or not.

Love her! We had a couple of miscommunications early on, but she recovered nicely. She is very open and tells it like it is. Office staff are nice too.

With out saying anything too personal, I can tell you that Dr. Mingea has been a superb care provider for many years. She has delivered our babies and balanced a professional perspective with a personable bedside-​manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Mingea to any woman in need of a caring, capable, and amazing physician. She is a gem!
