Caroline Eng Cohen, MD

Dr. Cohen is amazing. She is very professional and efficient. I needed to be seen before the weekend and called on a Thursday. She fit me in at the end of the day and I was in and out in 20 minutes (actually, probably less) it was amazing! I have never had a doctor’s office be so efficient.

I was a nervous new patient today seeing Dr. Cohen and I was completely amazed at how thorough and respectful she treated me today! She took her time-​asking about my history then listening to me and answering any questions or concerns I had. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Cohen to women as your OB/​GYN. All the way from the receptionists and M. A. were very sweet and I don’t want to forget the young lady at the check out desk! Great staff all around! I will be back next year for sure! Thank you to you and your staff!

I am still not happy about what happened with our insurance and how we had to find a new doctor, but after this mess she did call me and apologize. I wish her the best of luck

Politically-​motivated scammers.
I went to my first appointment with Dr. Cohen and everything seemed to go well. Three weeks later, I received a call from their office saying that since my health insurance plan was an «exchange plan», that their «office policy» was to «not support Obamacare.»
A friend quickly Googled «exchange plan» while I was still on the phone with them, since the receptionist couldn’t tell me what it was. Apparently, since I bought insurance (a gold PPO with Aetna, mind you) through
, they were refusing to accept my insurance. Not because it was Aetna. Not because it was a PPO (they’re in network with Aetna.) Because, and I quote their receptionist, «we don’t support Obamacare.»
I wish I was making this up. This is nothing more than a short-​sighted, politically-​motivated SCAM. One gold PPO is as good as any other. I have not had any other doctor refuse care for me because I bought my insurance through
instead of directly through Aetna.
Politics should have no basis on whether a provider chooses to accept health insurance or not. That this is not the case with Caroline Cohen is straight-​up disgusting.

I recently moved to Austin and joined the Austin ob/​gyn associates with Dr Cohen. Although I decided, ultimately, to use a midwife assisted birth center for pre-​natal care and delivery, I found Dr Cohen to be a wonderful ob/​gyn. She is incredibly attentive, responsive, and made me feel very comfortable. She was available at short notice and remotely to discuss somewhat obscure treatment questions, and followed up on minor problems with my nutrition levels very closely so they were quickly rectified. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone considering an ob/​gyn assisted birth (and as a side note her C-​Section rates are low compared to industry standards). Had I not chosen a birth center alternative, I would have ben very comfortable to work with her.

I liked Dr. Cohen but scheduling was terrible. I need to reschedule 3 – 4 times because she was on-​call which I understand. But when I tried to make another appointment (because I liked Dr. Cohen), the receptionist treated me like I was the one who did not show up for the appointment telling me «you can’t keep making an appointment».
What the!!! I would still see her but don’t really care for the staff members…

Love her ! Dr. Cohen delivered my baby last month. Over the course of my pregnancy she was always so great ! She was caring, friendly and always reliable. If I had any questions I would call her office and get answers right away. I highly recommend her if you are looking for an OBGYN. I never write reviews on Unilocal and she was so good that I want people to have the same experience as I did.

I would not recommend Dr. Cohen to my worst enemy. I saw her over the course of several months for fertility issues. My very first appointment she was over an hr late. I could hear her in the very next room with a patient. I got so fed up as the hr approached that I actually put all my clothes back on & was walking out/​opening the door when she came in. She was shocked that I was walking out after WAITING FOR OVER AN HR! My husband & I actually had time to take a nap. So anyways, I was already there so I figured I’d just meet with her. Seemed knowledgeable & nice enough at first. We started on a fertility plan, though she was not receptive to the advice that I was given by my previous obgyn (clomid). She kept saying that she didn’t want to end up on TV with another octomom (really?!). Despite my better judgement we went ahead with her plan. Fine, whatever. We’ve been trying so long that I didn’t think it would hurt.
So we’re doing this fertility plan for several months & I think I’m pregnant when I had this weird feminine issue come up. Went in to see her & she prescribed some pills. I researched online & saw that the pills should not be taken by women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or who are trying to get pregnant. I call her office right away & talk to her nurse. She says it should be ok if she prescribed them, but she’d check with her. I’m on hold for a long time & she comes back & says Dr. Cohen says it’s fine to take them. Are you sure because I’ve read otherwise??? She goes to check again & says it’s fine. Ok, so I go to Walgreens to pick up the prescription & talk to the pharmacist who says there’s NO WAY I should take those pills if I’m trying to even get pregnant. It causes cleft palates & other deformities, particularly within the first trimester. Thanks for trying to cause my baby deformities. I never went back to her again.

Highly recommend. I love having a doc who is competent and professional while also having a sense of humor. She always puts me at ease.

Great doctor! Dr. Cohen actually paid attention to me instead of watching her clock, computer, or other things like some doctors. She looked straight at me and talked TO me, not AT me. She listened to my questions and answered them clearly and completely.
I did have to wait a bit longer than expected since she had to run to the hospital to help deliver another patient’s baby, but she was quite kind about it, telling me what was going on and asking if I would like to reschedule or wait about 45 minutes. Yes, SHE was the one to come in to ASK me what I would like to do, not TELL me what was going to happen. And she didn’t send one of her office employees or nurses in to do it. I like that. I chose to wait and I’m glad I did.

I did NOT like this doctor!
I went in unsure of which direction I would be going with my birth plan — I had consulted a midwifery, and I was testing out Dr. Cohen to determine if I would maintain an OB during the process. In my first appointment it felt like every desire I had, Dr. Cohen tried to crush — from «WHY would you not want an ultrasound — they’re perfectly safe??!» in a tone that was nowhere near the comforting words I wanted to hear to «So you’re thinking about a midwife? There are plenty of alternate birthing methods in hospitals» leaving me feeling like I was being bullied. When my husband came in to ask questions, she didn’t introduce what we were talking about, and made it sound like I said something bad about him. I immediately imagined what the rest of my pregnancy would feel like if I stayed with her; from being pressured into medications that I didn’t want or need, getting more tests and ultrasounds than were needed, and I believe that if I went into labor, Dr. Cohen could be the type that would pressure me into getting petosin and ruining my experience. I did not return, and I am so happy with my decision to go with the South location of the Austin Birthing Center.

I can’t say enough on how wonderful Dr. Cohen is as a person and a professional. I’ve been meaning to write this review for a long time. I just had my first baby 9 days ago, and Dr. Cohen has been with me through the entire process guiding me with her professional advice and care. I wanted to have as much as a natural/​vaginal birth with my daughter and she completely encouraged me and listened to all my concerns. I have to say that I am lucky to be a patient of hers, especially with all the raving reviews that she already obtains in the Unilocal world. I previously had another Ob/​Gyn that «retired» and wasn’t very thorough like Dr. Cohen. I highly recommend Dr. Cohen and her staff. Even though I am moving to California soon, I will definitely be coming back to see Dr. Cohen! Thank you Dr. Cohen! :)

Let me just tell you something about Dr. Cohen: SHE IS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DOCTOR. I found out I was preggo with my first child last June and not really having any fellow mom friends, I turned to Unilocal to find an ob/​gyn. I told myself if I didn’t click with her, I would search on for the perfect doctor that would get my special self. So you can imagine my sheer joy when I met with Dr. Cohen and she blew me away. I thought: She is the one. And boy oh boy was I right.
She is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. She provided me with tons of information because as it turns out I am not much of a question asker. Dr. Cohen made the whole pregnancy experience more than I could have ever hoped for. I never worried about a thing because she had everything covered and took the time to guide me through this.
When the big day came she was there. When I was pushing my beautiful daughter out and started to show signs of exhaustion, Dr. Cohen looked at me straight in the face and said «You can do this, I know you can!» And my daughter was born into this world. I’ll never forget that moment. One of the best moments of my life and I got to share it with one of best women I have ever met: Dr. Caroline Cohen.

First and foremost, I highly recommend Dr. Eng Cohen. If you’re looking for a superior OB/​GYN in Austin, look no further. She is professional, caring, a good listener, well practiced, and makes you feel comfortable. Dr. Eng Cohen performed my annual exam with such precision and was so gentle. She was extremely knowledgeable, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and took her time with me so I never felt rushed. Dr. Eng Cohen is my #1 choice of OB/​GYNs and she will most definitely be the doctor I choose to deliver my children one day.

After moving here last December to the Austin area, I did much reserach in finding a new OBGYN. After much research, I decided to make an appointment to see Dr Cohen. Being a new patient, I thought it would take awhile before they’d be able to see me for an annual well woman appointment but to my surprise they quickly booked me for the next week. I loved my last doctor but something like that, they wouldnt make have me come in for 2 months .so that was one of the first things that impressed me.
As it was the day before the appointment, they confirmed with me my appointment which is also a plus. I arrived to the office which is across from UT and its quite easy to find… another plus. Checking in was a breeze and the women at the desk are friendly and helpful with any questions I’ve had. They were a little behind that day but its to be expected at times esp in an OBGYN office dealing with many pregnant women.
After a bit of waiting, I met Dr Cohen and was quite pleased. I’ve talked with her of my move to the Austin area and trying to adjusted to the area. She was quite comforting and made me feel more at ease welcome me to the area and informing of things in Austin and programs I could be a part of with my family in the area.
During the appointment, she is very informative. As she was doing a procedure, she would let me know what was being done and why. Even with my questions, she answered them thoroughly and was incredibly caring with any concerns I’ve had. If you’re looking for a good OB, I’d suggest Dr Eng Cohen. I’m so happy to have found her and will stick with her!

I just recently established care with Dr. Cohen, and let me say if you’re not being seen here, you need to make the transfer!!! I love this place, from the friendly professional front staff that checked me in, to her medical assistant who made me feel comfortable about coming in to see an ob/​gyn doctor. Once in the exam room, Dr. Cohen thoroughly went over my history, answered all my questions, and never once made me feel like I was being rushed. During the procedure, she let me know everything she was going to do. Dr. Cohen and her staff have made this a very positive experience. I will definitely be coming back, and referring all my female friends!!!

I LOVE Dr. Eng. She is super friendly and makes a point to get to know her patients. Every time I go in for my annual she remembers me and what is going on in my life. She makes you feel very comfortable asking questions and during all procedures. Normally I would feel uneasy going to visit the OBGYN, but since finding Dr. Eng I have been coming back to her year after year. She makes the experience that comfortable!
On a scheduling note, Dr. Eng always does a thorough exam and spends a good deal of time with each patient answering questions and in general just discussing what is going on down there. Because of this, she does tend to get behind schedule, so I would recommend booking appointments for the morning. Personally, I would rather wait a bit longer and be able to get all my questions answered and have a through exam than be seen for five minutes by a rushed doctor whose main concern is trying to keep things moving on time. She really does care about her patients, and it shows.

This place is great! After an unhappy experience at another doctor, I recently became a patient at Austin ObGyn Associates. I saw Dr. Caroline Eng for an annual exam, and she was fantastic! She was caring, friendly, patient, and took time answering my questions. The physical portion of the exam was fast, and she’s very gentle. The receptionist and nurse were both polite and professional.

I wouldn’t normally review an experience as personal as a trip to the gyno, but this place is superb. The front desk attendant was kind and efficient. The nurses were superb and Dr. Eng was on time, thorough, and easy to talk to. She listened carefully and didn’t seemed rushed to get me out of there. She answered all my questions and explained things in a frank, comprehensible way. It isn’t like I want to spend all day there, but I really appreciated that I didn’t feel like a time-​wasting idiot for asking so many questions.
I was definitely uncomfy choosing a new clinic in my new home of Austin after going to the same doctor for years in DC for my annual exam. Luckily, I found a gem.

I took a gamble by using Unilocal to find an OB/​GYN, but it was a good bet. I was able to get an appointment for my annual checkup with Dr. Eng surprisingly soon after calling to inquire. Dr. Eng was really patient, and one of the few doctors I’ve seen that actually took the time to talk to me and ask questions. The staff is also really friendly and made the sometimes awkward process that is the annual, not so awkward. I’ll be back next year, for sure.
