Copper Palm Moving & Storage

A HUGE NO NO!
This is my first review ever but definitely not my first move. I have never had this horrible experience with the other movers in town. I am so shocked to see all the good reviews here.
We used this company via livingsocial deal 5 days ago, cant even explain how awful their service was. Despite we (me and other 3 friends) help them with the move, they took 5 long hrs for one bedroom apt move in which we had already sold most of the items like bed, dresser and huge mirror. Because of their lumbering pace moving, we had to leave so many stuff at our old apt as we were being charged $ 130 per hr, so had to rush them to our new place. Later we had to go back to collect all those items on our own.
First thing they arrived at 9:30 and claimed to be arriving at 9:00, later i tried to talk to their operations manager regarding that, OMG another hideous experience. First he said he has GPS system and i told him to check their GPS stuff, later he refuses and starts stressing on 3% convenient fee which we weren’t even told about when we booked with them. I managed to get rid of that convenient fee but the whole moving thing was an awful experience, will NEVER EVER go back neither suggest them to anyone.

We moved with Copper Palm, and everything was well protected and taken care of. Lawrence was on task, and Kevin was entertaining.

Just absolutely SUPER.
Carlos, Lawrence, Gerard, and Remson were fantastic. Extremely helpful, very careful, moved everything from our 4000 sq foot home in 3 days without any issues. Always asked where to place things, None of our glassware, dishes, furniture broke, They were thorough, and very nice people. What they took apart, they put back together. I can’t thank them enough and can only wish them well.

Carlos and Kevin were amazing, Austin came with them and helped. Carlos and Kevin did such a good job with all my belongings and they were amazingly FAST. Carlos and Kevin even saved my boyfriends hide by taking the tape off of my dresser he had put on to keep the drawers closed and wrapping the dresser with pads so the tape wouldn’t peel the finish off. (wow is the BF lucky Carlos and Kevin caught this.) They stayed within time frame and were very professional during the entire process. I would recommend Copper Palm moving for anyone in need of a moving service and ask for Carlos and Kevin to be on your moving crew, these guys know their stuff.

I cannot recommend these guys strongly enough. They worked like gangbusters from the minute they arrived at my old apartment until everything was stashed at my new apartment. They even took out my trash! If you can, ask for Rimson and Kevin. They were friendly, professional, and just plain awesome!

I’ve used them 3 times for personal moves and I’ve referred them to quite a few clients (I am a real estate agent).
It’s always nice to be able to be the guinea pig for a service I recommend to clients. After my recent move, I’ll continue to have Copper Palm as my #1 recommendation for movers. I did get a second quote this time and Copper Palm was right around the same price as the other company and the bid Blake (owner of Copper Pam) provided was much more thorough.
The crew spent a day helping us pack then a really long day moving. They were very conscientious with our things and quite fun to have around. They were professional but also fun, which is great during what can be a stressful time.

Our experience with Copper Palm was excellent. A representative came to our house nearly a month early to check over our belongings and survey what needed to be moved. On the day of the move, Lawrence and Carlos (the movers) were fantastic: they were efficient, upbeat, careful, and effective. Most importantly, they were really attentive to the state of our furniture and managed to navigate everything really smoothly.
They also stuck within the parameters of the Living Social deal we had utilized, which helped us save quite a bit on the cost of moving in general. Highly recommended – and ask for Lawrence and Carlos. They’ll keep you laughing as they move your bulkiest, prized possessions.

These guys did an excellent job. They were prompt, arrived motivated and ready to work, and were very careful about not damaging anything. Lawrence and Tom both had cheerful attitudes even though we were moving in the rain. There was so much stuff to be moved out of my storage, I thought for sure it was going to be a three or four hour job. Lawrence and Tom had everything loaded lightening fast and unloaded at the new storage just as fast. If I ever have to go through the hassle and pain of moving again I would totally call Copper Palm. They are simply the best movers in the Austin area.

The owner came out himself to do the estimate, which was impressive. They were flexible about what they packed vs what we packed, which was really, really nice for us because you never know how much you’ll be able to get done ahead of time with little kids running around. And the price was comparable to the two other estimates I got. For us, the packing flexibility was the thing that helped us choose this company over the others.
The movers were late, but they apologized, and we didn’t have anything else going on, so once I called and made sure they were in fact coming it was no big deal. The crew could not have been a nicer group of men. Mike is a gentle, kind soul. Anthony, the crew leader cares about his job, his work, and his family. It was a real pleasure getting to know them. These are men with kids who care about their jobs. Not young guys that just want to be done as quickly as possible, which we have had with other movers in the past.
We had a couple of issues during the actual move. One with a coupon I was using and another with placement of some boxes that caused our air conditioning to stop working (!), but both were resolved with a phone call or a couple of emails. In their line of work, I’m sure things get stressful regularly, it was hot, and for me intentions matter so much, which were certainly in the right place with this crew and the owner.

I used Copper Palm Moving twice this past week. Carlos, Stephen, Walt, Dave and Kasey handled my major move and storage. They were very fast with the move and did an excellent job of wrapping and protecting my items. Later that week I had Dave again and Josh which handled a smaller move to a temporary apartment. Again they were fast and careful with my items. I would recommend Copper Palm Moving and Storage.

Anthony, Matt, and Stephen were awesome! Very professional and outgoing even after at least 8 hours, still had energy and positive attitudes. Worked efficiently yet carefully, insuring my satisfaction with anything in question. Nobody enjoys moving, but this group actually made it a fun day :). Highly recommend and will be my go-​to the next time I take another dwelling.

«THIS WAS A MISTAKE» — My Roommate after the movers arrived 4.5 hours late
We had purchased a living social coupon for moving services from Copper Palm and were fully expecting the same professionalism, timeliness and service quality as some of the well known movers around town.
We had an arrival time between 12PM and 2PM Friday. We had reserved our freight elevators for 12−3PM to give the movers plenty of time to move the contents of our two bedroom apartment on the second floor.
After contacting the office receptionist for an estimates arrival time, she said the movers would contact us. Around 2PM, we finally heard back from one of the movers. Saying they wouldn’t get to our apartment until 3:30PM, three and a half hours after our initial start block.
My roommate and I took this time to move as many boxes as we could by ourselves since we had already wasted two hours waiting. With nothing but larger items remaining, the movers finally arrived at 4:30PM.
Now that we lost our freight elevator window at both apartment buildings, the only other point of egress was through the garage, down the ramp, to the moving truck.
After about 5 minutes into the move, one of the movers asked my roommate to help and said «it would move a lot faster if you did.» In our numerous experiences with movers, we’ve never been asked to help the movers move items. After all, that’s why we hired them. After 20 to 25 minutes of progress at a snail’s pace, we decided to jump in. At $ 130 an hour, we simply could not sit back and watch our well earned money be spent in such an inefficient way.
My roommate and I moved, or helped move nearly 80% of the items remaining in our apartment. Keep in mind we had already moved all the boxes earlier as we were waiting four and a half hours for our movers to arrive. There wasn’t much of a hustle we saw in our movers. Although I do give them credit for the wrapping portion of the move, other times it seemed like the movers were walking around the apartment aimlessly while my roommate and I did a lot of the dirty work. It seemed like one mover was gone for a half hour excluding the break. Not to mention a few phone calls made by the same mover on our dime.
At the end of the day, this move took 4 hours. One or more of if which could have been avoided with a more timely arrival as we could have used the freight elevators as opposed using the garage/​ramp setup. I did question if one of the mattresses was dragged as it has noticeable drag marks. The mover promised it was not dragged.
This move, all in, cost us $ 470 with tip (which one of the movers made it a point to tell us they accepted tips). If you told me early Friday that it was going to cost nearly $ 500 for substandard movers that I would have to help, I would have cancelled instantly.
To make matters even worse, after checking my credit card statement, I realized I was OVERCHARGED!
I don’t have much good I can say about this move, other than I’m happy it’s over. Again I’ve never had to assist a mover i hired before. Then again, if we didn’t, the job may have taken 6 hours.

These guys did an excellent job. While running a little behind, Steve and josh managed to move me within the 2 hour time frame despite the parking lot directly in front of my apartment being replaced. These guys took the time to find the most efficient route and got the job done.

Josh and Sammy moved my belongings this past weekend and it was a great experience.
They arrived on time and were mannerly and respectful. They carefully placed things in my storage maximizing the space.
When I scheduled the appointment on the phone I requested a few items that I wanted the movers to wrap/​secure for me and she said «no problem» — when they arrived they didn’t have those instructions on their paper work nor the materials to implement my requests. (glass table top, mirrors and flat screen tv) Josh and Sammy did the best they could not knowing I had asked to have these items packed for storage. No fault of theirs, but the booking agent should properly handle these requests or explain they don’t offer these services and I would have prepared ahead of time. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend Copper Palm movers

I was very impressed with the professionalism of the movers, especially since the property management company of the building that I was moving into was very unorganized and not prepared for us when we arrived. The movers were very patient and understanding and did everything they could to help with the situation. Prior to loading the truck they padded all necessary furniture to ensure nothing was damaged or scratched — I think this is the first time I’ve moved without something ending up broken. They were accomodating, respectful of my belongings, and a pleasure to work with. I will be using Copper Palm Moving again for my next move.

Aaron and Eric moved me from south austin to north austin yesterday. They made my move seamless EVEN WITH RAIN! I appreciated how respectful they were, even calling me ma’m. I added an antique dresser with mirror to the move and they moved it to the new home with flying success.
I really feel like Aaron did a great job leading the duo! His experience in helping people move was obvious! Thank you.
Now for constructive criticism. There are a few things that they did not take, granted the items were open topped fabric cubes rather than boxes, but I have had movers in the past that take control and make it happen. when I asked if they could take a large box of paper Eric gave me a look that made me ask him point blank, «is that too much of a hassle» and he said yes. So by the end of moving things out of my house I feel like they were just ready to go. And so we went. Maybe having a few of those big open top boxes that they used for some of my things would have solved my poor choice in packing. :)
They were quick to arrive at the new home and quickly unloaded. I was moved and quite a happy camper!
I will totally recommend Copper Palm to friends and family. But if you’re not a perfect packer then request those big open top boxes they have!

I don’t normally write reviews but I feel people need to be warned.
I used Copper Palm Moving with the Living Social deal as well. The guys (Oscar and Frank) were extremely courteous and were on time. I moved a 2 bedroom duplex to a 2 bedroom apartment so the move was fairly small. After I showed them around the place, I took off to the apartment to get signed in and get the keys. When I came back, they were almost done. One thing that I was a bit concerned about was that smaller items such as lamps and plants etc were all put in a large open cardboard box. It definitely makes sense for some things but I did pull a lamp out and the switch for it was bent all the way back. When I showed it to the mover, he said that he forgot to mark that it was already broken. Luckily, I was able to bend it back and it worked. But this was a bad sign.
After we got to the apartment, everything was unloaded. Given that I was the only move on the truck and they went straight to my apartment, I wasn’t concerned that something might go missing. When everything was done, I was asked to sign a few documents including one that states everything was delivered. I did thinking everything must be there. After they left and I started rearranging furniture, I noticed that one of my antique oak claw foot tables that I used as a night stand was missing. I called them right away and let them know.
Communication was very slow with them and they didn’t return my calls. I would get that the owner is out of town or I don’t deal with this type of thing which I can accept but they weren’t exactly working hard to fix the issue. So, by the end of the 2^nd week they asked me to send pictures of the table or links to what it looks like. I was able to find a couple of pictures (background of older pictures) and some examples of the table I found on etsy.
Today, I got this email:
Dear Dean,
We have received your recent correspondence advising that an item is missing for your property. We have reviewed your shipping documents and discussed the matter with our personnel with the following conclusion:
Nightstand– The addendum you signed at the end of your move states that you had checked the trucks and that all items had been placed where you needed them to go. This serves as conformation that you received all your items at the end of your move.
As a courtesy, we spoke to our personnel but have been unable to come up with anything more than what the paperwork reflects and supports. Based on the conformation of delivery by our crew, absence of any notations at the time of delivery and the lack of evidence of loss, we find that we are unable to offer any compensation.
We must respectfully deny liability and ask for your understanding in this matter.

So, the lesson is if you want to work with this company, be diligent and check all your items before the movers leave. I tried to give them the opportunity to make it right but they declined. Now I’m out a 500 – 600 table.

Ben and Oscar were a wonderful moving team. They arrived a bit early with a lot of energy and good humor, which easily made my moving day less stressful.
Since I was moving out of a place with roommates, they were very thorough in asking which pieces were to stay (which I know everyone appreciated). Also, they were really good with our pets– making sure they didn’t escape and helping to keep them calm when need be. Their efficiency in loading, transporting and unloading my things was incredibly impressive and their attitudes were consistently fun, yet professional. I will definitely return to Copper Palm when I have to make my next move (which hopefully won’t be too, too soon).

I recently hired your company (via livingsocial) to help move my stuff. I had just returned from a deployment to Afghanistan and was on my vacation so I asked one of my friends to meet up with your movers and guide them during the move. I came home to find literally every piece of my furniture damaged in one way or another. A chunk of the leather from my couch has a big slash in it on the top now, where the stuffing sticks out. Both my dining room
Table and chairs and my bed were dinged and gashed in several different areas. A piece of my bed was destroyed when the wood piece and it’s screw attaching it were ripped off. I’m very disappointed with this service. I hired your company because of the numerous good reviews I found; I would imagine this is probably not the norm for your company, but in my case I was extremely disappointed.

I also used a living social deal but also hired them for an additional four hours for my move. I had some stuff in my apartment and more in a 10×15 storage unit that all had to be moved to my new house. The movers, Kelly and Robert, were not only on time, but early! They did a great job. Moving is a pain, but this team made it less painful for me!
Highly recommend this team and would use them again, although I hope I don’t have to move again for a long time. :)
