ATX Fence and Deck

We contracted Jared to fix some damage to our fence after the high winds in May/​June.
He wasn’t the lowest bidder, but he did excellent work in an expeditious manner. (The capricious and irregular business practices of that OTHER, low-​bid vendor from Pf-​ville made me go with Jared instead.)
He replace a post on one side of our property and replaced 2 segments and a gate on the other side.
Now our fence is in better shape than ever.

I called Jared based on a referral to get a quote. I was surprised at how quickly he responded to my inquiry. He was at my house in 30 minutes after the initial call to view the work I needed completed. He was very nice and seemed very helpful. He told me he would send the quote in a couple of days and if I did not see it to email or call because he was very busy after the floods. He communicated with me one more time and disappeared. I would love to give him and his crew a better review but can not get them to give me a final quote or get them to start the job. Guess I’ll never get to find out the quality of his work…

I contracted ATX Fence and Deck to build my patio cover and replace half of my fence. The work was done over a period of 3 days, impressive. Jared brought in a helper who was just as meticulous as he was. The build on the cover turned out perfect, I couldn’t have wanted anything better! The fence replacement was outstanding, he even closed it up so I could let the dog out since it didn’t get done in 1 day. Overall, the work, and customer service were outstanding. I recommend ATX to anyone who asks. Great work guys!!!

I contracted Jered to build a fairly large cedar deck with rails. Design was simple and when finished he was suppose to stain it with a wood stain from Benjamin Moore. He stained it alright, wrong. Deck is beyond a disaster. Horrible blotches everywhere. Just an utter nightmare. After calling and texting all day for him, for 3 days now to fix this, he never responded. I guess he’s too busy now gouging all the poor flood victims with fencing problems. So I had 2 expert strainers as well as a Rep from Benjamin Moore that came out and both said the stain was applied wrong, looks like water was added to the stain instead of just going a buying another gallon. Stain was over applied in beginning, then watered down toward the end. What’s most upsetting is the utter lack of responsibility or care. Right after stain was applied, I had a couple questions and he assured me it would dry and even out. Needed time to settle he said. Wrong. You trust a contractor to do a good job for a good price and fix any problems that arise. But this guy just convinced me everything would be ok and took the money and ran. So now I have 3 other bids and they all are around 1,200.00 just to strip it– yes it has to be completely stripped down, then 400 to stain, then 200 for stain. So I’m looking right around 1,700++ for his incompetence. I will never recommend him to anyone and strongly advice others to be careful. i felt so uneasy about even writing this, that I took his truck info down in case he is retaliatory in any way. Worst experience, I’m out of money, deck looks beyond terrible, and not a word from him. No integrity. Very disappointing. You’ve been warned. It does not deserve a 1 star, but I guess this app makes me click the lowest.

Really happy with Jared and the guys at ATX Fence and Deck. I live in Houston and coordinated the job over the phone. They went to my house in east Austin, provided their honest, professional opinion on the condition of the fence, gave me an estimate and a fair deal. They tore down the old, brittle fence and put up a brand new, sturdy, well-​constructed fence and sent pictures to me to confirm completion of the job. I’d recommend them to anybody. Thanks, guys!

I had a great experience with ATX Fence and Deck. They came out within three days of us calling. We had a fence fall over and they replaced four posts and put the fence back up. They were careful not to damage any of the border plants along the fence and got the job done in short time even though it was drizzling on them. They were extremely knowledgable and friendly and the price was good. They even dug a hole for me for a large birdhouse they noticed laying in the yard! (This is a big deal to me because our yard is all rock and it’s a pain to dig holes in.) I would highly recommend!

This is a ZERO star review. My next door neighbor hired ATX Fence & Deck to replace some of her privacy fence. Unfortunately, a section of that fence was on my property line where I have a professionally-​landscaped bed. Without any notification to me, they dug about 18″ into my bed, dislocating the decomposed granite and breaking the ends off of two blooms of my red yucca in that bed. They assured me that the bed would be put back «exactly like it was before», but of course it wasn’t, dirt was mixed in with the decomposed granite that they moved, plus they couldn’t fix the broken red yucca blooms. When I called the owner to complain, he said that he wasn’t about to pay for the repair, and if I wasn’t nice to him, he wouldn’t do anything at all. Then he hung up on me. They may do a good job with fencing, but they don’t do anything for relationships with your neighbors. Hire them at your own risk.

Called and spoke to Jared on a Friday. Arranged and agreed to an in person proposal/​estimate that following Monday. I provided Jared my address and telephone number. Day of estimate — called thinking he as running late, again provided telephone number and address. Gave the guy an hour, whatcha know — a big no show and no call!
If he can’t make an appointment, he certainly can’t stick to building a fence on customers terms. Really, don’t bother and just know that you’ve been warned.

I echo the other reviews — Jared did ours and our neighbors’ fence in March of 2010 and it’s still great. He was professional, competitively priced, and had higher quality material than the big boxes for the price. Glad we found him.

Very highly recommend. Hard working, straight forward, excellent materials, excellent work. Will definitely use again. And the price was great. The fence far exceeds my expectations. Had other companies bid… the price was much better and so is the quality.
