Boy, it sure is cool in my house & it’s all thanks to Jason and Joe at Alamo Austin Air!
My A/​C unit was really old & on the fritz. I’d been saving up to get it replaced, but it was a big purchase for me that required careful consideration & the right guys for the job. Jason explained the whole process over the phone, and was very helpful in answering all the questions I had. They also came in at a really reasonable price compared to some of the other companies I’d spoken with.
On the day we scheduled the install to take place, Jason & Joe we’re right on time. They were very professional & completed the work in a timely manner. They took time afterwards to show me how everything worked & even helped me set up my thermostat schedule for throughout the week.
Overall, I had a really great experience with Alamo Austin Air & would recommend them to anyone looking to have work done on their A/​C.

Jason and crew installed my new Carrier unit today. Everything went very well. They arrived on time and finished within the time frame provided. He and his crew were extremely professional.
They left everything very clean and better than when they arrived. He even took the time to fix the handle on my fence door, which was already broken, and made sure the air intake grill was properly installed. This was above and beyond. Jason took the time to explain all the rebates, air control settings, and warranty information.
Since I just installed a new unit, I hope I won’t be needing Jason anytime soon :). But if I do, I know I will be in good hands with Alamo! Thanks for a great job done.

Earlier this year (August to be specific) I had a crisis. Even though I have an EPA license to handle refrigerants and do minor repairs I finally gave up on keeping my two 21 year old Trane units running after I’d kept them up through several family get-​togethers this summer as they were about to die.
Got through that and called 5 or 6 HVAC contractors re: repairs/​replacements only to be told by most that «we are too busy right now to even come look».
Several called back and came out and basically gave me bullshit answers. Alamo Austin Air made time afterhours to come by and consult with no promises made as to ability to schedule but since they were close made time.
Jason from Alamo showed up after what had obviously been a long day and spent 2 hours (instead of the 15 minutes I’d been told) diagnosing my issues. I asked for a quote on basic repairs, replacing 1 system, replacing 2 systems and had them the next day.
Wifey and I made the decision to bite the bullet and replace both upstairs and downstairs systems and two weeks later we were up and running on both and hopefully won’t need to address issues with HVAC for the rest of our lives.
I don’t know if this is insensitive to tradespersons or not but I seldom feel comfortable with contractors in my house … this was such a different experience with Jason and his crew that I may have to re-​think my whole view of that. I was as comfortable with these guys in the house as I would have been with family.
If you need HVAC work call Alamo Austin Air and rest assured you’ll get better service than you have ever had before.

P. S. We had a system stop working on day 2 after install and I freaked out and thought it was major … it was late Friday and I just knew we were screwed till at least Monday but a call to Jason and he was there 15 minutes later and we were up and running again after diagnosis of a minor adjustment of a safety shutoff sensor.
Call them now if you have HVAC problems … you won’t be sorry.

Several years ago, I replaced my 1^st floor unit using Jason at Alamo Austin Air. The unit has literally run flawlessly for five years.
The second floor unit failed this summer and I had three companies bid on the replacement. I told each of them that I wanted a new unit since it was 20 years old. The other two companies simply quoted a new unit. They didn’t ask whether being without an air conditioner was a problem before they replaced it. Jason asked whether we needed the current unit running for the few days before the new one would be installed. The delay was to wait for new rebates from Carrier. He worked to repair the unit at no additional cost because he was concerned about my family.
The new 2^nd floor unit was installed and it also running flawlessly. Jason added a second return duct to size the duct for the unit properly. Now the system is nearly silent.
Jason is excellent in our experience.

So my review comes from a different perspective of them not answering their phone as a prospective customer. I read the Unilocal reviews and wanted to reach out to Alamo due to mostly positive reviews and proximity to my property. When I attempted to contact them I got voicemail stating to leave a msg… which would not have been a problem for me. However, rather than allowing me to leave a msg it stated I was being transferred to an operator which rang & rang until the call timed out. These are the little things that are all part of running a detailed oriented successful business. things like answering the phone when someone calls during business hours (3:05 pm on a non-​holiday Friday). and/​or ensuring your phone system is routing/​handling any missed calls correctly. There are too many competitors in this ‘space’ to miss a step. This is just constructive info hopefully you can use to improve your business. Best of luck!

I put in a request on their website letting them know what I needed. As an electrical engineer, I informed them I already knew that my condenser coil was a bit dirty and explained we had just moved back into this house as a temporary situation while we build our new home. The freon levels were low and the AC hadn’t been serviced in that time. I wasn’t advised on any fees for the service call and I was told that I would be put on the schedule the following day between 4−6PM. I was very clear in what I needed and didn’t need. The guy that came out, Abel, fed my wife some BS story about him having to remove the evaporator coil to service the freon… The freon connections are OUTSIDE near the exterior fan. There is no need to remove the condenser coil to perform this task. I was quoted $ 375 to clean the condenser coil and a $ 65 mystery service fee that was never mentioned, which is higher than anyone else in the area! In this city when you call someone up and get them to come out, they give you a FREE ESTIMATE for the total cost of repair. I removed the three screws that hold the coil in place and took the coil out back with the evaporator cleaner you can get at Home Depot for $ 5/​per. A few days later the same nasty woman who scheduled the service called me back to pay for the $ 65. Not only was she rude about the fee, but she tried to talk to me like I’d never done a service before and then told me they’d never come back! Well, good! Honey, you’re a dime a dozen in this town and there was absolutely no services performed. The fee was never discussed prior to the visit and I clearly explained to you what I needed. You did NOTHING. Heck I’d make a killing if I drove around to desperate people’s houses all day and took the information they’d given me over the phone, regurgitated it to them, and charged them $ 100 for me to look. I guess a panicked person without AC would throw money at you if they’re too dumb to watch a Youtube video on AC repair. I didn’t even get the freon refill I originally requested (the whole purpose for calling you in the first place!). Don’t send someone to a house that looks with a flashlight in 10 seconds on an issue I had already specified and try to charge me to come 5 blocks down the street from the house you run your business out of. It’s quite pathetic.
***UPDATE***
Spoke to Jason, he was just as rude as whoever his receptionist is, I’m thinking it’s his wife. He «commended» me on my efforts cleaning my own evaporator coil and told me more lies from his technician about what really was going on. Since I had another reputable and trusted repair man come out from Moody’s. He replaced the missing coolant in the system and my AC works as good as new after my cleaning.

I needed to replace both of my A/​C units this spring and I had 5 different companies bid for the job. Jason put great care into the detail of his quote, came in with an aggressive price, and was really patient with all my questions. While the other companies were telling me I needed to put in wider attic stairs to accommodate the new equipment before they could start, Jason just said he would figure out a way (it was just part of the job as far as he was concerned). They took great care not to disturb 5′ tall shrubs that they had to lift a compressor over to get it to its concrete pad. They carried one of the HVAC attic units from one end of the attic to the other, through some pretty tight areas just so they wouldn’t have to tear out my attic stairs and put them back. These guys were not afraid to work. They just rocked, and the systems have worked perfectly.
Then came all the paperwork for rebates from Carrier and from City of Austin Power. He filled everything out for me. All I needed to do was sign them and mail them in. When the city decided to make things difficult and require extra paperwork and sizing studies, he just took care of it and bird-​dogged them until it was done.
Professional, honest, great people. I can’t recommend them highly enough. If it wasn’t for Unilocal I might never have found them.

Jason takes pride in his work, and always puts the customer first. I highly recommend Alamo over the rest.

I had Alamo Austin Air replace the ductwork in my attic as it was recommended by an energy audit that was performed when I bought the house. Jason, the owner, arrived early and carried out the work promptly and within the time/​price quoted. I also had him service my AC units while he was there. Thanks to the ductwork and a freon recharge the AC is blowing nice and cold ready for summer. From scheduling to completing the work, they were very easy to work with. Being able to pay by credit card on the spot was a nice convenience. We found Jason both friendly, hard working and extremely professional. I will certainly go to them in the future for all my HVAC needs. Highly recommended.

I called this morning at around 10am after seeing excellent reviews on Unilocal.My heater was making a deep humming sound. Abel came out later the same day even though I had a meeting part of the afternoon. He showed up on time and was quick, thorough and efficient. He explained what the problem probably was — though the heater didn’t hum while he was there — and told me how to test to be sure it was broken. He said he’d come out again later in the week and he wouldn’t charge me another service charge if it started humming again and the blower motor had gone out. He thought it was probably going out but didn’t insist that it needed to be replaced yet. Thanks!

I’ve called these guys twice and they’ve responded quickly each time. The first time was mid-​August and our air conditioner went out with a 3 yr old and 2 yr old. I called several places that couldn’t get to us for a day or two. Thank God these guys squeezed us in and came out with in a few hours. The next time was a similar response time. They were really friendly and seemed very trustworthy. I will call them again when needed.

I had to have warranty work done on a window unit AC. Not only was the service fast but excellent tech.(Matt) was extremely nice and explained the problem and fixed it. Later I had Jason come give us an estimate on some future upgrades we may do and he was extremely professional and just a nice guy! This is a great company to do business with.

Jason was super to work with– 5 Stars. After receiving less than reputable service from CASA Mechanical we found Alamo Austin A/​C through our neighborhood chat board. They had several great reviews from neighbors and friends. I am so glad we found them!!! We had mold and years of build-​up in our A/​C systems. Alamo came out to our house & completely removed and cleaned both systems, disinfected, and reinstalled the equipment. It improved our A/​C efficiency, got rid of the musty smell, and now we are mold free.

I can’t say enough positive things about Alamo. After feeling completely cheated by our previous A/​C contractors (CASA MECHANICAL) these guys were a breath of fresh air. –THANK YOU

Alamo saved us a ton. Our Trane A/​C failed a few months after the warranty ended. The installer had no idea what was wrong and wanted to experiment at our expense. We resorted to Unilocal.Alamo dispatched a certified Trane technician who concluded that the lines weren’t cleaned properly at the time of installation. He advised us to wait to see if the blockage resolved itself. If not, Alamo would clear the lines for a reasonable fee. The system cleared itself and has been fine for two summers now. Alamo has our A/​C business from now on.

These guys are the best! I wasn’t sure who to use when I bought my house so I used a recommendation from a neighbor. Problem was, I never felt that company had my best interests at heart. They constantly and consistently told me every summer that I needed to spend a huge amount of money on a new compressor.
When I had to replace the capacitor in my compressor for the second time in 10 months and the service guy got really nasty with me for not agreeing immediately to spend a huge amount of money on a new compressor, I decided that it was time to look for a new service guy.
A friend of mine recommended Jason at Alamo Austin Air. I called and they said that not only would they come and evaluate the system but they would do it in the same day! WOW! My system has gone down for a few days and I still couldn’t get service from the other guys.
Jason called about an hour before he was scheduled to touch base and let me know that he was on his way. He came by and I let him know the whole long story with the other guys. He immediately went to work. He kept looking things over and comparing it with what the other service company found and kept me in the loop as to what he was doing and why.
He finally found the problem. At some point, the fan had went out and the other guys had put in a larger fan and … upside down! He was able to find me a new fan and installed it the next day (and correctly)! That is service, people!
Jason is really down to earth! He is just one of those guys that immediately puts you at ease and you know that he will take care of you. Heck, even my dog likes him!
I wish that I had found Jason earlier. I am so thankful for my friend that recommended Jason and now I can’t help but recommend him to all! Call him!!! You won’t regret it but you will regret calling the other guys!

I love when I buy a living social deal and I end up loving the company. When they came out, they were super courteous and amazing! Abel gave me a few tips on how to improve my system and told me that I need to add something and get my motor blower replaced (since it was on its way out). I told him that I wanted to wait on the repair with the motor blower since I had a home warranty. He told me that I should wait on both and get them to come out because they should cover both. I was absolutely floored by his honestly and not trying to take advantage of me.
To make a long story short, my home warranty denied my claim and gave me the option of going through the service company. No thank you. I called Alamo right up and they were able to schedule me immediately.

Do yourself a favor and call Jason @ Alamo if your unit goes out. I called nine places for estimates to get my A/​C running, and not only were they all more expensive, but the time to come out and make repairs ranged anywhere from four days to a week.
Jason called me back immediately, told me what he thought the issue might be, came to give an estimate (after hours when most guys would have scheduled for the following day), gave me the best price and told me he could have it done the next day.
Throughout the whole process, Jason and his crew were professional, knowledgeable and cost effective. Those of us who have taken our lumps with home repair contractors really appreciate when a company comes along and really blows you away with great customer service.

I scheduled a AC checkup, a living social deal, for monday Oct 14^th but when I went home for lunch on the 3^rd my AC wasn’t working. I called Alamo and Jason had someone come that afternoon.
Abel was awesome! He was polite and very knowledgeable. He fixed the problem quickly and answered all my questions. He also gave me helpful tips to keep my system running smoothly. I will definitely use this company again and recommend them to all my family and friends.

Found these guys on LivingSocial and am very pleased with them! I just bought a new place and wanted to get an AC check up and make sure everything was working well with my unit.
Abel showed up right on time and did a comprehensive check of the outside and inside units. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. He even addressed a few things my inspector and brought up and explained it all in detail to me.
I will definitely use these guys again! Great find!
