The Manhattan Condo

After living here for 5 years (still a current resident), I figured I would update my previous review. Everything is still the same — The Manhattan is a great place to live. The best part is by far the friendliness of all the residents/​staff and overall convenience. Here are my top places around that I frequent most often:
(1) MARTA — 0.6 Miles — Both Dunwoody and Sandy Springs are an equal 0.6 miles from the condo. I’m working on a new client and take MARTA everyday. It’s awesome. Not to mention trips to the airport and sporting events.
(2) LA Fitness — 0.7 Miles — I walk to a third party gym — not bad. If it’s late and need a quick workout in, the condo gym is quite nice as well but it won’t have heavier weights.
(3) Costco — 0.8 Miles — They sell everything. And this location has a tire center and liquor store.
(4) Groceries — 400 ft to 3.7 Miles — You have access to Target, Wal-​Mart, Costco, Fresh Market, Publix, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts within 3.7 miles. I’m a Costco-​Trader Joe’s man myself.
(5) Restaurants — Varies — Too many to name but tons right in front from super quick and casual (Chipolte, Chick-​fil-​a, Tin Drum) to the fanciest (Capital Grille, Flemings).
(6) Taco Mac — 0.2 Miles — Lots of TV and beers. Enough said.
(7) Perimeter Mall — 0.4 Miles — Nordstrom, Macys, Dillards, Von Maur, J Crew, Banana Republic, Foot Locker, Apple, Lululemon, etc.
(8) Perimeter Expo — 1.2 Miles — Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Best Buy, etc.
(9) REI — 0.4 Miles — I like outdoorsy stuff.
(10) Total Wine — 0.3 Miles — Every beer and wine you can imagine.
Other things in less than a mile (these are just examples):
Coffee — Starbucks (in the Target nextdoor and two others less than a mile) — 400 ft
Car repair — Firestone — 0.4 Miles
Home items — Bed, Bath and Beyond — 0.3 Miles
Home repair — Home Depot — 0.8 Miles
Massage — London Med Spa — 0.1 Miles
Hangout spots — Taco Mac, Tin Lizzy’s, Dunwoody Pub — Varies
Doctors — Ton’s of private practices in a medical area — 2.2 Miles
Random puppy watching — Petland — 0.7 Miles
In my previous review, I forgot to mention how dry cleaning (very reasonably priced) and package pick ups (Amazon — yes please!) are all handled by the front desk — a huge plus.

I write this review as a visitor to the Manhattan. The Manhattan is a very nice high-​rise condominium building located near Perimeter Mall. It’s conveniently located next door to the Super Target inside the Perimeter Place shopping center, so there are a lot of shops and restaurants within a stone’s throw away. Geographically, the condos are located near I-​285 and GA 400, so highway access is a breeze.
As a guest, free parking is available directly outside in Perimeter Place’s parking lot. Parking in front of Super Target is your best bet.
Like other high-​rise condominiums, the Manhattan is similar to a nice hotel. There’s a circular pull-​up driveway directly in front, perfect for pick-​ups and drop-​offs. There’s an attendant at the front desk who’ll buzz you in and tell you where to go.
We had a get-​together in the clubhouse. While some condominiums and apartment complexes have a separate building for their clubhouse, the Manhattan’s clubhouse is located on the first level of the high-​rise. It reminds me of a hotel lobby, waiting area, lounge, and bar. It’s extremely spacious and stylishly decorated.
The ceilings are high and there are tall glass windows adorned with billowy, sheer white curtains. Part of the clubhouse borders the outdoor pool and patio. However, movement between the pool area and clubhouse is prohibited. I guess the HOA doesn’t want the clubhouse to get wet and messy and I don’t blame them.
The pool area is aesthetically pleasing. It’s quiet, relaxing, and resort-​like. There are waterfalls, miniature fountains, and both covered and uncovered lounge areas. One neat touch I really like when it comes to the pool area are the large, cushioned booths with tables tucked away from the sun. These are excellent for groups with food and drink.
The clubhouse has seating of multiple types — wall sofas, cushioned chairs, high-​top tables, and an island counter with seating. The island is great for setting up food trays. A mini fridge is installed in the island and has ice. Behind the island is a counter with two small convection ovens and a sink.
The clubhouse also has multiple widescreen HD displays. The A/​V system includes a cable box and other equipment, so channels like ESPN are available for viewing. The carpet is bold and colorful and the light fixtures are swanky. The design is generally a good mix of modern and classy. Overall, it’s a great space and ideal for hosting small private parties.
No visit to the Manhattan is complete without a trip to the rooftop lounge. I think it’s officially called the «Skyline Lounge.» It’s on the 27^th floor. The rooftop lounge has both an indoor and outdoor portion. The indoor portion is small and has a restroom. The outdoor portion has snazzy lights and big wooden patio furniture that includes chairs, sofas (some cushioned), and tables.
The outdoor portion is located on the southeast corner of the building. The outer edges are enclosed by glass windows that are about 6 to 7 feet in height. Views to the east include Super Target and primarily residential areas. The more picturesque views to the south include Perimeter Place, Perimeter Mall, and the Concourse at Landmark Center, which includes the «King and Queen towers.»

The condo my boyfriend and I were looking at was really really nice BUT when I called to inquire about the level of security (SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT) the woman I spoke to, who also gave me a FAKE name was RUDE from the moment she picked up. She said her name was «Smith» and she had been the President of «gibberish» for 29 years. I asked if The Manhattan had security because my boyfriend and I had once had our condo broken into because of the LACK of security at our previous condo. She RUDELY stated that The Manhattan wouldnt provide personal security for us (though that wasn’t what I had asked her). I told her the reason why I called to ask is because my boyfriend’s friend stated that when he visited once he was able to go straight to the elevators without anyone stopping to I. D him and no questions asked. She stated that it’s not SMART of me to listen to «3^rd, 4^th and 5^th parties» in which I told her I understand and that was my reason for calling HER and asking HER. Everything I asked about dealing w security she totally switched my words and made it seem as if I were asking her to cater to my boyfriend and I. When I asked if there were cameras (just incase of an incident) out of no where she said «I’m not telling you were are cameras are placed» I was SUPER CONFUSED, I told her I dont care where the cameras were placed that’s not of my concern, I just wanted to make sure The Manhattans had SOME KIND OF SECURITY. My boyfriends’ teammates have been robbed at gunpoint and NO ONE seen anything. Buying an expensive home and not feeling safe isn’t normal. I couldnt BELIEVE how MEAN AND INCONSIDERATE she was to a potential buyer. She even told me my asking about security was «unusual and very concerning» which I was baffled by because who doesn’t want to make sure they are safe at all times. I explained to her that we were serious buyers and our only hold up was the level of safety. She was very suspicious for no good reason and I would hate to believe she was simply «stereo-​typing». She lacked professionalism, I mean WHY would you give a FAKE name when youre suppose to be of help? I dont know her name but her number, which is listed is 404.723.4636 so if you find yourself calling this number PLEASE HANG UP AND FIND ANOTHER CONTACT FOR THE MANHATTANS.
