I was always afraid of going to the dentist, but Dr. Manuelian changed that. He’s very nice, non-​judgement and everything is painless. I had the most thorough cleaning ever; you can tell they really care about their work. Would definitely recommend!

Dr Manuelian and staff and great! Best dentist I have ever been to, so easy and totally professional. Not one complaint from me– even when he gives shots to numb you prior to doing work, it’s easy-​breezy. I actually had a lot of work done over the last couple months and I’m happy to say that I now I have a dentist for life :). I am another one of those people who really doesn’t lke going to the dentist (who does? lol) but Dr. M is so good that I have no problem showing up.

Finding and having a good dentist to go to is such a blessing, that I’m not really sure if it would be wise to share my great experience with Dr. Manuelian here. I don’t want you to crowd up my future appointment slots.
I haven’t had much luck with dentists in general, in the last couple of years. Without going into much painful details, I found Dr. Manuelian on Unilocal,with trusted reviews from fellow Unilocalers (Megan V. and Megan C – thank you so much). Made an appointment online, then with a lot of anxiety, I went to the practice.
The staff turned out to be wonderful. (Maria is simply awesome, professional and friendly.) Dr. Manuelian is down to earth, patient, very trustworthy and most importantly does great dental assessment and work.
Dr. Manuelian has mastered the art of injecting anesthetic. From my personal experiences with dentists and subjective pain tolerance, he really stands out.
Over the summer, Dr. Manuelian moved his practice down the street and join a bigger dental group. It is now closer to the subway stop, with the same great staff.

I would highly recommend this office. The staff are SUPER friendly and helpful. The doctor is personable, honest and reasonable. No BS here. I do not have dental insurance, so the staff worked with me on payment options. I felt completely comfortable admitting how broke I am and felt no judgement from anyone. Due to my awful credit I had to get help from my father (at 32 years of age), but Maria in the office spoke directly to him and he was able to put the fee on his card that minute. After such a pleasant experience, I did not want to shop around for another dentist. Go here. You won’t regret it.

You can’t go wrong by making an appointment at Dr. Manuelian’s. I came here for my 6 month cleaning and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The receptionist was super friendly and professional. My dental hygienist was knowledgeable and gentle in the cleaning process. She gave me some very tangible self-​care tips and it was clear to me that she is passionate about the work she does. Dr. Manuelian was great too. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and gave me an honest second opinion.
In my prior experiences at dental offices, I have noticed that many dentists err on the side of recommending more invasive dental treatments. Dr. Manuelian and his staff are not this way – they take a real preventive focus to dental care that I very much appreciated.

The staff at Manuelian Family Dental were as friendly as can be and making appointments has been faster and easier than with any other dentist I’ve ever seen. They even have an automated text-​bot to send you an appt reminder and accept a text as confirmation!
I have never had to wait very long in the waiting room.
I had 2 cavities filled by Dr. M and it was quick and completely painless. I don’t know why I waited this long to get my first cavities! Lol.
(and the office is right across the street from a little thrift store where I can reward myself for dental bravery by searching for treasures.)

Like a previous reviewer, I’m not a big fan of dentists and suffer from my share of dentist panic. After managing to avoid seeing a dentist altogether for… let’s just say too long, I recognized that it wasn’t optional anymore and decided to take the recommendation of a trusted friend who had raved to me about Manuelian Family Dental.
I’m truly glad that I did, and now I’m the one doing the raving.
Everything about my recent experiences there has been top-​notch, from the ease of scheduling appointments, to the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, to Dr. M’s impeccable bedside manner. I especially appreciated his calm, reassuring approach and his willingness to answer as many of my panicked questions as it took to put me at ease. Oh, and the work he did on my front choppers – about which I had a LOT of anxiety and self-​consicousness going in – is outstanding. I feel good about my smile again and, maybe more importantly, I’m not scared to go back for my next routine cleaning.
I’m giving Manuelian Family Dental five stars only because the scale doesn’t go higher. It’s that much better than any dentist I’ve ever been to.

This was the very best dental experience I have ever had ! I had not been to the dentist in years and was feeling extremely nervous about my appointment. My fear was immediately put at ease once I walked in the door! The whole staff is very friendly! Dr. Manuelian took his time with me and performed the cleaning (which was very thorough) himself. I have found my dentist home :)

Painless, patient, communicative.
I had 3 visits with Dr. Richard: a check-​up, and two old fillings that had to be re-​done.
At the exam, Dr. Richard was very patient answering my questions (I had a few since it had been a few years since my last visit to a dentist), and he explained everything he was going to do. I was also impressed with the digital x-​rays (less dangerous) and a tiny digital camera (so I could see exactly which fillings needed to be re-​done).
At my fillings, the anesthesia shot was mild, I hardly felt it. During the first filling (the more complicated of the two), I had my mouth wide open a long time, and my jaw was sore afterwards. I mentioned this to Dr. Richard before my next filling, and he did the filling really fast and without having to have my mouth so wide. The numbness wore off quickly, and I have no soreness in my gums and jaw at all!
It’s true that there was a wait for 2 out of 3 appts, but then, given that one filling only took about 30 minutes total (including settling up the tab), I can’t complain!

Five stars for a dentist from someone who fears and loathes going to the dentist like I do is a testament to just how great Dr. Manuelian and his staff are.
I haaaaaate going to the dentist. Truly. I get so worked up about it that I’m sick all day. My first impression of the office was a great one — his receptionist, Maria, is fantastic and goes above and beyond in answering all insurance related questions. She’s very kind, in person and on the phone, and never seems rushed.
I knew I had a lot of work to be done, a crown that I’ve been waiting until I had insurance to do, as well as some visible cavities I knew would need to be filled. My first appointment was for a cleaning and x rays to get a better idea of our plan of attack. The hygienist was sweet and efficient and the x ray process went quickly and painlessly. (As painlessly as it can be while chomping on big ol’ plastic things.)
In came Dr. Manuelian. He’s nice and pretty no-​nonsense and laid out quickly all the things I’d need to have done, and which were the highest priority. My favorite part was the complete lack of dentist shame!!! I HATE when dentists berate me for the state of my teeth. Yes, I KNOW I have things that need to be fixed… that’s why I’m here. Please fix them and let me be. None of that from this guy! Loved it. He performed my cleaning, too, which impressed me because I’m used to hygienists doing it.
Last night, I went in for step one of Project New Mouth and had a root canal. He made an altogether unpleasant thing smooth and as comfortable as possible, and sent me home with a prescription for painkillers to keep it that way.
I’m thrilled to have found a dentist that makes almost makes me not hate going to the dentist. Almost.

Let’s be honest: That’s crap. It’s the dentist, and the topic of dentistry is not one which should misuse the word «literally». That said, it was definitely as painless as it could possibly be when a masked guy has a metal hook in my mouth.
I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Manuelian and his staff. They are professional and kind. If you’re in the market for a family dentist in the Astoria area, you don’t need to look any further. Their office is top-​notch.

I just need to write a review on this place! I haven’t been to the dentist in years do to my fearful and painful experiences I’ve been to in the past. When I finally NEEDED to go, I found Dr. Manuelian office on ZocDoc (who are great as well for finding you a doctor). When I walked in for my appointment I could almost shed a tear from the fear of seeing the dentist. The staff are SUPER AWESOME and FRIENDLY so they put me at ease. When I finally saw the doc for cleaning and fillings, he was very nice calm and easy with my mouth! He would ask from time to time if I was doing ok and if had any discomfort or needed a break to raise my hand. He wasn’t mean about me not flossing much but kindly said I need to to prevent cavities and keep my teeth healthy!
I recommend this place to anyone!!! Best dentist ever!

I have been going to Dr. Manuelian for many years now (even before he began his current practice) and I highly recommend him to anyone. He is a true professional in his dental practice and makes the time to build a personable relationship that reflects the extent to which he cares for his patients. That is very important to me. Like looking for a good automobile mechanic to work on a luxury vehicle, you can trust Dr. Manuelian. He is extremely dedicated to providing the absolute best dental care in the City and that’s a fact. When so many dental offices are more concerned with getting people in and out, with impersonal attention and care, Dr. Manuelian is the dentist who provides the genuine personal touch. He is very conscientious and detail-​oriented. Whether it’s a routine six-​month checkup and cleaning, or getting fitted for veneers, Dr. Manuelian takes the time to do a thorough and precise exam. He takes the time to explain in detail what procedures will be necessary for preventive, restorative or even cosmetic work. And, when it comes to money, he is very up front about costs and wanting to provide care at the lowest possible cost to his patients. He even goes above and beyond by working with the insurance company before doing work to provide a real estimate of any out-​of-​pocket expenses. And, when I went to him for veneers, I ended up paying much less than I ever expected; and the quality of work is unsurpassed. So, if you are looking for a professional, yet personable dentist who treats people like human beings, make your next dental appointment with Dr. Manuelian. He also has an exceptionally friendly staff (office manager and dental assistant) who genuinely love their jobs and are clearly proud to be a part of Dr. Manuelian’s practice. You will always be greeted with a warm smile and very friendly welcome. And rarely, if ever, do you have to wait longer than just a few minutes to be seated. Dr. Manuelian and his staff are very respectful of your time and keep appointments on-​time, not waiting and wondering when you’re next. Give Dr. Manuelian’s office a call, and if nothing else, simply make an initial consultation appointment. You won’t regret it, and like me, you could become his next long-​term, regular patient. Dr. Manuelian and his staff are the best! Very knowledgeable and informative, and I appreciate the fact that this is the first dentist I’ve been to in years that isn’t trying to sell me on expensive products I don’t need. Professional and friendly, they took great care of me and my teeth!

Dr. Manuelian is so friendly and informative. He’s not at all pushy, and offers great advice. I trusted him and his staff almost immediately. I love that they are open on weekends, and I really like that the dentist is the one who does the cleaning. It makes the whole experience seem less detached, and I feel safer knowing that he is examining my teeth for an extended amount of time. This place is great!

I an petrified of the dentist and was nervous for days before going to see Dr. Manuelian but he was AMAZING. I didnt feel anything — hes so kind and gentle and gentle and really cares about his patients. Not like other Dentists in astoria who treat you like cattle at a factory. I have since recommended Dr. Manuelian to my friends and family and would reccomend him to anyone.

i was always so petrified of the dentist and one of my friends recommended i come here because they are so friendly and welcoming and she was right they made me feel so comfortable the staff was great the dentist was great it also didn’t even have that dentist smell! i loved it beautiful office overall a great visit!
