A native of the Flushing area of Queens, Dr. Leibowitz earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and, in 1987, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. After practicing several years in a private dental practice in Bayside, he opened his Astoria dental office in 1991 in the lower level of a four-​story residential apartment building. Since opening his current practice, he has established himself as a trusted member of the local community and beyond, attracting patients from as far as New Jersey, Long Island, and upstate New York. His compassionate and personable manner, as well as his commitment to providing comprehensive dental services, has earned him a loyal patient following, and he always welcomes the opportunity to earn the trust of new patients.

I moved from Astoria to Jersey City 2+ years ago, but still make the trip back every 6 months to see Dr. Leibowitz. His helpfulness, friendliness, attentiveness, and knowledge is more than worth the hour on the train! Flexible hours, many payment options, and an amazing staff also keeps me coming back. The best!

Dr. Leibowitz is a great dentist! Me and my roommate have been going to him for years. He does great work and he’s very friendly, funny and kind. If you have any kind of dental phobia, you will want to check him out. The staff are also very friendly and they are pretty flexible with payment arrangements. Highly recommended!

It’s kind of amazing how lovely this office is. I’ve been twice and have always been seen on time (I was even seen early one time).
Dr. Leibowitz is kind, funny, and everyone in the office remembered personal details about me and thought to ask how I was. Everyone in the office is LOVELY and I’ve left in a wonderful mood each time.
The work he does is good and thoughtful. He never tries to upsell me on anything. And each time, everyone in the office has ensured I’m good to go with my insurance before I commit to anything. They take into account my financial situation and let me know ahead of time what each procedure is going to look at. As he put it: «We don’t want you to have any nasty surprises.»

Found this doc using a groupon. What a great way to try out a service before you decide to commit. The location is very close to me. Yea the office is in the Lower level of a building but it’s lit, clean and welcoming. Stephanie was friendly and got my paperwork completed. Few Xrays were done after talking with Dr. Leibovitz. An exam matches up with my complaint of teeth being sensitive. Discussed options. Got a cleaning by hand versus the messy water splashing technique which hurts my teeth, polished and was on my way. This is a basic, old school office. Nothing foo foo or sheeshee which is rare these days. This doc is not going to nickel and dime you. Takes both cash and insurance. Will be back for a filling next week and an update.

First time there, saw some bonding done and wanted to inquire about bonding a baby tooth. Went to the consultation and there was no rush, answered many questions, stated alternative cost effective options, very pleasant atmosphere, straight forward and pretty honest answers. Ended up getting bonding on the tooth and it was a great job, and received compliments on how real it looked. I’m definitely going back for some other minor cosmetic work. I rarely write reviews but honestly I’ve seen 6 different dentists this year and he was one of the more pleasant professionals and the prices were pretty decent.

This place is great! I literally just came out of the office and everyone is so very very nice and friendly! The dr is so approachable and gentle! I’ve never left a review on Unilocal for anything but I told them I would for this because it was honestly that good :) I hate going to the dentist (or at least I used to!) but now I’m actually looking forward to coming back for my 6 month check up after the wonderful experience I had today! Amazing, caring staff and just great experience overall (Saturday morning appointment and no waiting once I got there!). Will definitely recommend; so if you’re looking for a dentist around Astoria make sure to check them out!

A great dental experience! You’re treated like the only patient they’re seeing that day, both Dr. Leibowitz and Christa were super entertaining to visit and chat with, and there was no attempt to upsell me on anything extra. (I even got stickers in my goodie bag!) Gave me zero grief about having a Groupon. I will note that the Groupon is more expensive than others in the area, but the service reflects this. Don’t even think twice, if you’re overdue for an appointment, just do it. For bonus brownie points, print out the new patient forms from their website and bring them in filled out!

Is it possible that I just had the most enjoyable DENTAL experience EVER?! I was looking at a Groupon for a cleaning/​exam/​X-​ray and after extensive Unilocal research decided on Jeffrey L. He was kind, funny, thorough, and did not try to «sell» me anything unnecessary. Yes, it is in a weird looking basement office but TRUST this guy is good. I will definitely be back.

I am overjoyed to have found Dr. Leibowitz! I had a horrible experience at another dentist and I was recommended by a coworker to see Dr. Leibowitz. He is caring, wonderful, will take time to answer your questions and is a great dentist on top of it all. He also recommended me to the most wonderful dental surgeon to get my wisdom tooth removed. His staff is also very kind and helpful. I don’t know if I am cursed, but it seems so hard to find a great dentist, so I feel very lucky to have found him!

Love Dr. Leibowitz & staff!
I started coming here when I moved to Astoria, for my son when he was about 5. Now I see him for regular visits as does my boyfriend. After 6 or 7 years of seeing Dr. Leibowitz we have moved out of Astoria but we still come back to the neighborhood for our check-​ups. He’s wonderful — kind and professional and his staff is always courteous and friendly.
If there is room for improvement it is in the reception area, it could use a face lift but then again, I’m not going there twice a year for the reception area!

Was very disappointing!!!
I am new to the area so I purchased a groupon to try this dentist and made an appointment for 1:30p.
I got there early and waited 30 mins. While the receptionist ate Chinese in front of me. Office was in a dingy basement apt. That looked more like a car wash waiting area.
I left and informed the recep. That I will call here to see when he is ready for me. I call twice every 30 min. Only to be told to reschedule. Ofcourse, I cancelled my appointment and never will return. Very unpleasant experience and a waist of 3 hrs.
Very disapoiting.

Dr. Liebowitz is a wonderful dentist. He is very knowledgeable, gentle, and friendly — great at putting one at ease and explaining what he is doing. By far the best dentist I have ever visited. His staff is pretty great too. I found him through Groupon, have already gone back for one needed follow-​up, and am looking forward to continuing with him.

Great dentist. Didn’t try to upsell me from my groupon deal (like SOME evil dentists who shall remain nameless [coughtribecadentalstudiocoughcough]). Cleaned my teeth, was nice about it, gave me a nice full sized toothbrush in a goody bag on the way out, just the way a dentist should be. If you’re frequently in Astoria, hey, you’ve found your new dentist, ok? He’s fairly affordable, too, if you don’t have insurance.
Yes, the office looks a little shady, in the semi-​basement of an apartment building, but you know what? The super schmancy office at the other evil dentist who shall remain nameless, but whose name rhymes with Schribeca Schmental Schmudio, had flatscreen tvs all over the place and computerized everything and they LIED LIED LIED LIED LIED LIED in a way that could be considered criminal. So you can’t judge a book by its cover and you can’t judge a dentist by his office.
