Astoria Nails

This is my go-​to nail spot. Location is great for those who live near the park, prices are much better than in the city, and they do solid work. I’d love it if they started some sort of loyalty program– a free manicure after every 10 visits, as many places do. Other than that, can’t complain!

I don’t understand why they say they close at 9pm and won’t take me when I get there at 8:06pm. Now I’m walking 15mins further to get a gel manicure and regular pedicure done. Really ridiculous. I only come here because it’s close to my place because their service is shoddy. Really annoyed.

My first time going was this past Sunday and trust and believe I will never be returning again. I came in for a filling and to replace two nails. I don’t know even know where to begin with how bad they messed my nails up and how much of a waste it was smh 45 dollars down the drain. 1. This lady completely disregarded the shape of my nails and did her own thing. I have a couple of fingers where their opposite nail is either shorter or longer than the other I have a nail that’s leaning to the right smh and to top it off I got gel nail polish and there were nothing but bubbles and it’s chipping on all fingers and this is the 3^rd day. I’m not even going to bother to go back to have them fix because I know they’re just going to mess it up more. I advise you not to go to this place for gel or acrylic it will be your biggest mistake. It was mine

Live nearby and was hoping this place would be a good local spot. I am very happy to say it will now be my go-​to nail place. The prices for a mani-​pedi are the lowest I’ve found, but the equipment was clean and up-​to-​date and the staff was really nice. The best part was the complimentary massage given while my nails were drying. The massage itself made me want to come back just for a chair massage in the near future.

I love that there is a nail salon for those of us that live near the park. Wasn’t impressed with my gel manicure the 1^st time I came here, but told myself I’d give it another shot. Last night was my 3^rd and last time. My cuticles and the skin around my nails end up looking worse than when I walk in. They also are sloppy with their gel manicures, and I have bubbles. This has happened all 3 times too. I’m glad others have had better experiences here, but unfortunately I won’t be back.

I’ve been coming here since they open and its my go to spot. Pedicures are good and my gel manicures are fantastic. They last 3 weeks before they start to chip the longest I’ve had anywhere ! and punam (I hope I spelled her name right) is AWESOME with threading I will not let anyone else touch my eyebrows! Free wifi is always a plus!

Horrible service even after instructing how to fix the mistakes Susan made with my nails. She only seemed annoyed, left majority of them uneven and not shaped how I requested. Charged and extra 6 dollars to replace a nail plus .35 cents for no reason what so ever. I read good reviews that they know how to do acrylic nails and design. But from the pictures on Unilocal to real life performance that makes my judgement to realize the pictures that illustrate designs are all down by another nail technician at another location. By far the worst experience will be posting pictures of there real work. To top it off while doing my nails, a lady complained how they removed excessive amount of hair from her eyebrows. Yet they did nothing about there mistake.

This has become my go to place for a couple reasons:

I get a pretty regular gel mani/​reg pedi here for $ 40, which is a great deal to me. The attendants are very nice and I’ve always seen them disinfect their tools, use special care on your nails etc. It’s a warm atmosphere, and if you want to talk to your technician or just keep to yourself, they’re open to both!
When they are busy, they tend to rush, and I hate that. I mean I understand trying to get everyone in, but I don’t want my nails coming out half-​done. I try to go at off-​peak times, to make sure the time is taken out.
I do wish they had more gel colors, but I guess that’s my fault for going so often!

Been here a few times since my last review and just went again — one of the salon experiences I’ve had in a while! Seema did an excellent job on my pedicure and then I had an above average eyebrow threading from Susan. I received a complimentary shoulder massage while my nails were drying — much longer/​better than the usual neck rub at a salon. All this for $ 30 (including tips) makes me a satisfied customer!

I used to go here all the time. The last few times I have walked out very unhappy. Twice they botched my nails so bad by cutting them so short when I told them not to. I also asked if they would get the new seasonal Essie colors three times and each time said yes and never did. Their selection is so small and they will also do a terrible job. Its ashame because my experience was much different in the past.

Good experience at first, but must say their service just gets worse and worse.

Not to mention they change the person who is getting your nails done in the middle of the process, which I don’t think it’s professional at all. Sometimes more than once. (Stayed there for 2:30 hours once just to get a mani+pedi, unbelievable!)

I suppose the third time was NOT the charm. I’m now even more annoyed with them, because the lack of attention or understanding when they’re wrong is ridiculous. The same woman who did my mani/​pedi last time, was the same to do it this time around. My pedicure she did a great job on, even scrubbing under my feet making it smooth (despite not wanting to do so last time). During my manicure my thumb nail was uneven, and she wanted to leave it like that until I had to pull my hand away from her, so that she will trim them instead of her continuous filing. Trimming aside, she went on to painting my nails, and failed miserably at that. Even becoming upset when I pointedly stated that there was no way I was leaving with my nailpolish the way it was. There was streaking, lumpy, and because the first coat wasn’t applied evenly, the streaks from the first coat could be seen after the application of the second coat.
One of the other girls came along and re-​polished all ten fingers, and was done doing so in about 5mins. Results… perfectly even polish distribution. Though she was rough, because apparently they didn’t appreciate me calling them out, I had to put her back in line.
My final qualm is the woman who initially did my nails inability to speak or understand english. Each time I asked her a question, she had to call on one of the others to translate for her, or just smile, and completely not answer me. I’m all for everyone having a job, but maybe teaching your workers, or requiring they learn the english language will make for better communication. Needless to say, I don’t care to return no matter how conveniently located they are. I’ve ran out of chances to give.

THEY ARE THE BEST! I cannot emphasize THE BEST enough! Prices are so reasonable: $ 8 mani, $ 22 pedicure w massage. Plus they give you a 5min hand/​arm massage during mani and 5min shoulder massage after. AND THEYRE REALLY GOOD AT IT! What more can you ask for?! Recommending to all I know in the area!

This place is very organized and clean. My manicure and pedicure was done by Susan. She did a good job. I wanted a design on my toe nails and she also did a good job. As you are drying your nails they do a message. overall it was a good experience for my first time, I will be going back.

This place is really wonderful the staff is very friendly and kind. This place never disappoints me. Also they are very close and quick. The prices are reasonable. Five stars from me !

Wasn’t happy with my gel manicure. She didn’t file nails to same length. And after a week my gel manicure has chipped.

I love this place. I have been going since they opened. Everyone is super nice and do an excellent job. I really like the fact that most of the girls have their nails done. I feel like that speaks volumes on how well they do your nails. All new equipment and good prices. This place is the best

A solid nail place in Astoria.
Clean. Great prices ($ 8 for mani, $ 15 pedi, $ 4 color change) and they do a good job.
My mani lasted for 6 days from here! I think it’s a combination between the nail techs and those special dryers.
I’m not crazy about the décor, and there are no massages after your nails are done, but if you need a quick nail color change, or straight forward mani, this is your place.

I love this place. Cozy, full range spa treatments! Mani-​pedi special…$ 20! The best! They have all new equipment, (new place: old equipment=no good). Low volume flat screen tv. Massage chairs that really work!
