Astoria Medical Imaging

I came here for a chest X-​Ray. It was very last minute and they were able to fit me which was such a big help. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledge and the wait was only 10 minutes. They moved things along nicely and I never felt rushed. They tech that did was X-​Ray was very efficient and friendly and made me feel at ease. The atmosphere is very pleasant and clean. I would definitely go back here for any future invading tests I need.

I have been to many doctors offices over the years and it’s always the same thing, nasty staff and long waits. Upon entering Astoria medical you are greeted with a warm welcome and friendly faces. You can definitely tell that they don’t double book appts which is a pleasant surprise becaus the wait is no longer than 10 – 15 min which is great for a doctors office. During your wait time there is always coffee and something sweet to snack on in the mean time. All the doctors are great but I prefer Dr McGee she is super friendly and very professional and will get you in and out quickly… anyone in need of an x ray or sonnagram should definitely come to this place, nobody likes the doctor office but this place will definitely make your expierence much more enjoyable!!!

I had a series of nerve-​racking tests and everyone there was very professional, understanding and organized. I was able to get my appointment the day before and they helped me through a bunch of my caveman questions. Everyone from the front desk to the tech who performed my tests were all very kind. I was in and out. If I ever need these sorts of exams again, this will be the place I go and recommend.

As far as customer service and care for their patients goes this place is top notch. I had to visit this location twice in one month and both times they worked with me around my work schedule. Even though they didn’t have many spots open following my work day, they made sure I was able to get my tests done. The ladies in the office were helpful and nice, also the technicians were professional and answered any questions I had.
I would recommend this location to anyone who has medical imaging needs.

I walked into the Astoria Medical Imaging office today at 3:55 for a 4pm appointment. There were only two other people here. I’ve seen the X-​ray tech step into the waiting room 4 times looking lost, confused, lethargic, and I’m guessing stoned. It’s after 5pm and I’m still waiting.
If you have a job or a life or any place to be — you’ll probably get seen at the ER faster than you will here.

Great attention to detail. Techs are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Friendly and quick. No more waiting hours at a doctors office.

I had to get a lumbar scan & I’m a pussy.
I asked this poor lady that administered the test probably a hundred questions in preparation to get in this tube. The freaking out has started.
She slides me in & I’m nearly pissing myself & she kindly pulled me out & let me go in backwards so that my face was still slightly outside, ahhhhh crisis averted!!!

Had to visit this location for a sonogram today. The receptionist I spoke with was friendly and warm. However, the sonogram technician was incredibly rude and started speaking to me in the most condescending manner because she was having a hard time reading the imaging. She continued to ask me a series of questions in a harsh manner, implying that I did not follow instructions to be prepared for this visit. Easily the rudest person I have ever encountered in a medical office. Go elsewhere.

Completely misread my shoulder x-​ray. I could see my collarbone jutting out of my skin with my bare eye. But the analysis was that the ligaments are intact and «the AC joint is ‘unremarkable.’» I find it remarkable this place is still in business.
It was a type III AC joint separation. Which means ALL the ligaments were torn. They caused 2 extra months of untreated pain due to their misdiagnosis.

First off, let me say that I actually work at an imaging center (and have for 5 years now), so I am intimately familiar with the inner-​workings of a radiology office. I absolutely would have gone to my office instead, but it’s in another state (I currently work remotely but worked in-​office for years).
I came to Astoria Medical Imaging for an ultrasound (sonogram). After waiting for 30 minutes past my appointment time (with no one else ahead of me — the ultrasound room was completely empty), the tech finally called me back. I don’t know if this was a scheduling error (i.e. they booked too many appointments and she needed a lunch break), but whatever the reason, it’s a lapse and an inconvenience (as a side note, a girl sitting across from me said she had been waiting for two hours, though I’m not sure for what exam).
I noticed that the tech’s probes still had jelly on them, presumably from the last patient she scanned, but assumed that she would sanitize them before using them on me. NOPE!!! She just went ahead and used those nasty, un-​sanitized probes on me. Before I had time to protest, she had already started the exam.
On top of that, the tech treated me as though I were an inconvenience to her day — she rushed through my exam and barely looked me in the eye when she was speaking to me. When she was finished with my exam, she brusquely said «wipe off with your robe and meet me outside,» then turned around and immediately opened the door, which the entire waiting room has a view of, before I even had time to cover myself up.
I just spoke with the ultrasound tech at the facility I work for, and she confirmed that these practices/​behaviors are completely unacceptable and unprofessional. To have not sanitized her probes — and then afterward to not even check that I had covered myself before opening the door with major visibility of the waiting room — 100% terrible service and a complete disregard for the patient (I am speaking of ANY patient — anyone coming to have diagnostic imaging done deserves care and basic sensitivity).
Additionally, when I checked in, private information was verbally disclosed in front of everyone in the waiting room (I noticed this happening for another patient, as well), which is a HIPAA violation. I know first-​hand that there are private and tactful ways of disclosing and exchanging information at the front desk. The TV in the waiting room was also blasting CNN news coverage, adding unnecessary stress to what is, for most people, an already stressful visit. Why not shut the TV off and play some calming music for everyone’s benefit and sense of peace?
The only even slightly positive part of my experience was that one (not both — one) of the front desk employees was pleasant. Unfortunately, that’s all I can say for this place.
Remember — even though this is a medical office, you are still working in a service capacity. Your patients have a choice to go elsewhere — and trust me, in the future, I will.

Not a bad place to get an MRI done on the cheap. If you don’t have insurance but still need an MRI, this is probably one of the cheapest places in New York. I had my lower back lumbar area MRI-​ed and it cost $ 450 total.
It was super easy to schedule an appointment and had one available the same day. Although the place itself could use some remodeling and felt kinda cramped when I went, it got the job done and the people there knew what they were doing.
