Why isn’t there a 6 star option? Because these guys deserve it. My bedroom door was locked and I couldn’t get in and I asked around and got ridiculous «we’ll do it for $ 100» responses. Matt answered the phone and told me that all I needed was the proper screwdriver and while he could do it, i could pretty much do it myself. I went over, got the screwdriver (which he shaved a bit to make it easier for me), got a 3 second demonstration, and voila– I opened it in under a second. All for $ 3.
This place is where it’s at.

Great response to a request to change out a tumbler, one hour after initial call. Professional no nonsense service, arrived with all equipment needed and finished within a half hour. During the lock repair, he noticed that one of the other lock mechanisms was faulty such that I would not be able to get out in the event of an emergency (fire)! This was a major safety problem. Vinny, repaired this at no extra charge, much thanks to you from me and my family.

These guys are excellent!
My garage door lock that is is from the bronze age finally crapped out. From the looks of it however it almost seemed like someone was trying to break in which was even more worrisome. I called up DV for help and they showed up within 30 minutes. Not only were to able to install the new lock quickly but the tech also confirmed that the tumblers in the cylinder just went bad and that there was no foul play. In the end I had a fixed door and regained peace of mind. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with lock issues.

These guys get it !! A family business– Father and two sons and an employee. Everybody is knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. I go there as often as I need.-the last time I was there I needed some screws and wood glue to fix a leg of a chair. The son suggested the screw size and the right glue –I picked out the pack of screws myself when I got to the counter he said «you gonna use all those screws ?» I said no and he got me a smaller pack saving me an extra $ 3.50 — who still does that? This is the type of place your parents took you to as a kid– it’s another world. People who put the customer first, that know what they’re doing ! I’ve also used them as Locksmiths — on premises (I forget what happened– there was an accumulation of gunk in the lock cylinder or something — but they changed it 123. Also got keys made there– fast, easy, no hassle. I can’t give this store a high enough rating !!!

I cannot praise DV’s professionalism and courtesy enough.
I was locked out of my apartment late at night and a sketchy locksmith I called from a sticker on my mailbox (to my own fault) came and drilled out my lock. I didn’t need the lock replaced immediately because I have double doors and they were charging me what even I knew was an overly inflated price.
The next morning I walked around the corner to DV and not only did they charge me half the price the other guy quoted, they fixed the damage he had done as well. All in about 10 minutes! My only regret is that I hadn’t called DV sooner.

this is the best locksmith I have ever been to I called and asked if they cut keys if I have the blank he said to bring it in so I did I brought my own blank because nobody carries blanks for my wifes scooter so when he looked at the original and the blank and saw that it was identical he took it into the back and cut it then when I asked how much he said no charge this is how you get repeat customers I finally found a hardware/​locksmith where I will buy all of my supplies from so I want to say again Thanks D. Went here to make a spare key. It was so reasonable — only $ 1.75! I’ve paid triple that in Manhattan. The man was very nice and efficient, too! They also have good hours. Definitely come here if you need a locksmith in the neighborhood.

I needed to install a lock that I purchased at Home Depot in my new apartment, so I called these guys and they came out the next day. It took Vinny 20 minutes to complete the installation and I was good to go. No fuss, no complications, nice and simple which is what you need while dealing with the stress of moving day. Regular key copies are like $ 1.29 each. Great for moving into a new place. Staff was super friendly and answered my toilet flapper questions more knowledgeably than the Home Depot I tried first. They’re open Sundays too. Definitely a neighborhood resource.

Need to make duplicate copies of your apartment keys (or any other keys)? Here’s your place to go to for fast and efficient service. Just needed 1 key copied and was in and out in barely 2 minutes. Paid less than $ 1.50 for a simple apartment key to be copied too. Price of course depends on the type of key needed. Highly recommended place.

I called DV Locksmith & Hardware a few weeks ago to fix a broken lock on an apartment I just moved into. Not only was the gentleman I spoke to on the phone super helpful, but the locksmith that arrived was amazing (if memory serves me correct his name was Shawn). He called with a time estimate and stuck to it. And when he arrived he was able to recommend the best option for us, installing it quickly with a cost that was inline with what I was quoted on the phone. Great prices and customer service all around. I would definitely call these guys again in a heartbeat.
