Welcome to Loudoun Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. With offices located in Leesburg and Ashburn, Virginia, we have long been known as the premier oral surgery practice in Loudoun County, situated in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area. Using our advanced training and state-​of-​the-​art equipment, we have provided high-​quality oral and maxillofacial care since 1994. We offer a wide range of services, including dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, facial cosmetic surgery, facial rejuvenation, treatment of oral and facial injuries, and corrective jaw surgery. Our procedures can be done with a variety of anesthetic techniques including IV sedation and general anesthesia.

Our surgical and anesthetic services are provided by our highly trained and board-​certified surgeons: Dr. Bluhm, Dr. Dorsch, and Dr. Vandervort. Our doctors and certified staff are happy to help you achieve proper function, a beautiful appearance, and an improved quality of life.

History

Established in 1988.

Dr. Bluhm has practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery in Loudoun County since 1994. After completing his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, he attended dental school at the University of North Carolina and received his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Virginia.

Dr. Dorsch is a dual-​degree, Board-​Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has practiced in Northern Virginia since 1999. He thoroughly enjoys practicing all aspects of oral surgery especially cosmetic and reconstructive implant surgery including bone and soft tissue grafting procedures.

Dr. Vandervort joined Loudoun Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in June, 2009 after serving 20 years in the United States Navy. He retired with the rank of Captain and most recently served as Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program and a member of the teaching faculty at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia.

Had my wisdom teeth extracted here and my experience was great. I called only two days before my procedure and explained to the receptionist the urgency of my situation, and she squeezed me in for a consultation/​extraction appointment at once. The staff including his assistants, Sam and Mariela, was extremely welcoming and professional. Dr. Vandervort answered all my questions before the procedure and checked on me a day later.
I went with general anesthesia, so I didn’t feel a thing. I know for sure that Dr. Vandervort did an outstanding job, since I did not experience any pain after! Didn’t need to use any of the prescriptions or even Advil!!!
Definitely recommend him!

The whole experience was amazing! When I walked in, nervous about getting an extraction done, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff who immediately put me at ease. Then Mariela, one of the assistants, came and took me back to the office, She was very professional, kind and explained in detail how the procedure was going to go. Dr. Vandervort came in to numb my mouth and gave me more details, also professional and kind. Mariela and the other assistant Sam, also very professional and kind stayed with me until Dr. Vandervort returned. The dreaded moment was here. Dr. Vandervort had that tooth out in 60 seconds. No pain, he is truly amazing! When I say no pain, not that day or the next day, none at all. I have never had work done on my mouth without pain this was a first. It was the kindness and true caring of the entire staff that made it a very pleasant experience. Thank you!

Many thanks to Dr. Dorsch and his amazing staff for providing what I consider to be first class service and treatment. During a particulalry stressful time, my son (2 years old) prepared for his third surgery in as many years. This time, the treatment was a Lingual Frenectomy. My son had tissue below his tongue that if left untreated, would severely impact his speech and his ability to properly eat and drink.
From the moment we walked into the immaculate office, we were greeted by a warm amd very welcoming staff. Each and every team member paid special attention to my son and made him feel like a celebrity. This temperament from Dr. Dorsch’s team set the tone for the rest of the visit. From there we were ushered back to the surgical room by one of the assistants. Again, the approach taken by the assistant mirrored that of the front staff.
Dr. Dorsch took extra time to articulate to me exactly how the procedure would be done and assured me that my son was in good hands. He was exactly right… The surgery went without a hitch. The chairside manner displayed by Dr. Dorsch is the best in the business. He made my son feel comfortable in a typically uncomfortable situation and for that I am ever grateful. That evening after the surgery I was shocked to get a call directly from Dr. Dorsch checking in on my son to see how he was healing and to verify that I did not have any questions. This is the only time I have ever had this kind of treatment.
I would highly reccomend the office of Dr. Dorsch, Bluhm and Vandervort to anybody requiring any degree of oral or maxillofacial surgery. Because of this office, there is a happy young man running around licking ice cream cones and talking his dads ear off! Thanks thanks thanks!!!

I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted.
I had the most amazing experience here. All of the receptionist were very friendly, professional and smiling from the moment you walk in.
Dr. Vandervolt was my surgeon. I really couldn’t have asked and hoped for a better doc to be taking care of me. First off his assistant Yuhung was really great. I felt at ease with him and during my consultation he made sure I had a full understanding of what to expect for my actually surgery and post op care.
I had never had surgery before and I was really nervous. Everyone made me feel really comfortable leading up to the procedure.
Dr. Vandervolt was really gentle and calming which made me feel like everything was going to be ok. His assistants Yuhung and Michelle were excellent and my entire experience was just great.
I definitely feel like I chose the right place to get my surgery at.

My 11 year old son has some issues with his teeth and his orthodontic, Dr. Richard Lee, recommended to get his 4 teeth removed so that he can continue with his treatment.
My son has his teeth extracted in the past without using general anesthesia and that experiment was not a good one for him. So, this time we picked up Dr. Dorsch for his teeth extraction as their Ashburn office is very close to our home.
We got the first appointment on Dec 23 and the Dr. Dorsch suggested to use general anesthesia this time. I talked to his staff and ask them to make sure that the general anesthesia is covered under my insurance. And they assured me that they will make sure that it is covered.
Now, after the teeth extraction, they sent me the bill saying that the insurance is not covering the general anesthesia and I have to pay around $ 500.00.
I called my Insurance and they say we don’t have any problem paying for general anesthesia as long as Dr. recommend it as the necessity and if they send us the statement. I talked to a person name Debbie at Dr. Drosch office and requested her multiple times to send the statement which she send with wrong code and my Insurance again rejected the claim. My insurance also told me that somebody from Dr. Drosch office named Alma called on Dec 23, 2013 and Insurance told her that they need to submit estimate approval before giving general Anesthesia. But the Dr. office did not send any estimate and now they are demanding me to pay for the general Anesthesia otherwise they will send it collection.
The ridiculous part of the story is this that I have very good insurance and they do not have any problem paying for the general anesthesia but they need the right statement and code from Dr. Dorsch office.
Now Debbie in billing is not willing to cooperate with us and Insurance and just threatening me to send the bill to collection
