History
Established in 1980.
Sona Chaandi is located on Pioneer Bvld. in the City of Artesia in the heart of Little India. Sona Chaandi has become a landmark of sorts in the Indian markets of Artesia. The business was founded and run by Pradip and Mala Malani, who first came to the U.S. from Fiji and India. The business started with their first store, Saree Sapne in 1980. As the business expanded, they added two more clothing
boutiques and a jewelry store. Mala was the first indian woman to start a clothing boutique on Pioneer Blvd. and has been instrumental in the formation of the internationally famous Little India in Artesia.
In 1993 the Malanis bought and opened Sona Chaandi Plaza, where they moved all their stores under one roof. They currently have a jewelry store, and upscale clothing boutique and a full service beauty center. Due to the unique clothing line and multi ethnic salon, they have received visits from many Hollywood Celebrities such as Madonna, Hilary Clinton, Gwen Stefani, and many more.
