The Paramount

I want to add an important update. I want you to know that my reviews in no way should imply that I harbor any ill feelings or should reflect poorly upon the competency of the persons you have had work at the complex. Each individual is truly a pleasure to deal with, especially the current front desk/​leasing consultant Aaron and the past assistant community manager, Lauren. I believe there is just a high turnover and a lack of communication between the office and the company itself. It seems a lot of what Lauren was trying to accomplish, including the ledger resolution, appears to have been lost somewhere in the chain. Another example would be her attempt to rectify many residents not understanding why we could not receive the current market value when renewing our leases, causing many residents to turn in move out notices. I understand that WRIT is predominantly retail real estate and is often concerned with the bottom dollar, but they are dealing with people’s sanctuaries and we truly are more than a dollar sign.

We lived in the Paramount for four years and survived three different building owners. For those of you looking for consistent, good building ownership, friendly service and customer satisfaction, I WOULD NOT recommend the Paramount or WRIT (owner). About 95% of WRIT’s business is commercial, not residential, and they treat it that way. When they came in, they changed everything, and said «tough,» it is in your lease and you cannot do anything about it. For example, we had a concierge there weekdays until 10, and on the weekends until 6. WRIT removed everyone who worked there and did not replace the concierge (which all buildings have in this area). They also have problems delivering packages, never told us how to use the buzzer system (even though they wanted our mobile numbers), and in general were difficult to work with. We have since moved out, and are still having issues with paperwork, wrong billing addresses, and billing for apartment we have never lived in.
The building itself is very nice, and super convenient. The apartments were recently renovated, and the balconies are the best in the area. That being said, there is no pool, and the weight room has the same equipment that was there three owners ago, even though they tout it as «new.» The last time I was there, the same three machines that were not working for the past year were still not working. Compared to similar properties, the rent and facilities fees are too high.

I visited here several times while looking for a new apartment. They just changed owners after being bought by Washington Real Investment Trust. The leasing people were nice but disorganized. The interiors are remodeled and nice and all have large balconies but the outside of the building is the dumpiest looking high rise in the area. Rents are far too high compared to similar properties in the area – especially the newer building right next door.

Cheap compared to the other places in the area. 2 bedroom for under 2000 is a steal! Units come with a washer and dryer for an additional $ 25 a month. I like the patio installed in each place its huge! I like the penthouse upstairs Internet is fast and lots of tables and a fat tv. Nice view and a deck too. Free coffee and tea downstairs. Cons are that you have to pay for parking $ 70 or $ 75 a month. Also the building is old. Great location and great price!
