The Millennium at Metropolitan Park

I don’t give a lot of one-​star ratings, but this apartment complex certainly warrants this rating.
TL; DR: I would not live here again. I would not recommend this place to any friends. If I had a friend considering it, I would strongly discourage that decision and point them to several better options in the same area.
Here are the facts…
The bad:
1) My apartment was dirty when I moved in… The (broken) refrigerator had stuff in the freezer section. The countertops were covered in some kind of sticky, honey-​like substance… not all over, but it was noticeable in a few places and it certainly made it seem as if they had not been cleaned. I was offered a free cleaning from the maid service. I declined since I had already taken care of the issue. The stuff in the freezer I threw away, and also discovered that the freezer didn’t work.
2) I had three refrigerators in six months.
First Frig: Was at move in, freezer didn’t work, had to get a second. Would have been nice if the staff had QC’ed the unit.

Second Frig) Didn’t seem to work real well. Freezer never got super cold. I went out and bought thermometers and found that the frig was at like 45 degrees and the freezer was around 30 degrees.

Third Frig) Finally this frig worked… for the remainder of my time in the building.
3) The washing machine seemed liked it constantly leaked. I had to put several tickets in. The staff made a big deal about watching for moisture and mold, so naturally when the catch pan was wet, I put in a ticket. The first time they told me it wasn’t leaking and that it was just spillage from me or something. The second time, they fixed something. It worked for about a month and started leaking. The next time, they fixed something else, it worked pretty well, and would occasionally leak a small amount of water.
4) The drawers and cabinet doors in the kitchen never seemed to line up. One drawer was completely broken at move in. I had to put a ticket in to get it fixed. It would have been nice if the staff had done a quality control check of the unit before I moved in.
4) It took 88 days to get my security deposit back. The law stipulates that is MUST be returned within 45 days. This infuriates me. It was a small amount, but it was the principle of the matter. I had to do some serious nagging to get them to send it. I doubt I would have it now if it hadn’t been for all of my pestering. I was about ready to just go to small claims court.
5) Costco beeping trucks can be annoying. My hearing sucks, so it wasn’t that bad for me… but I still noticed it often. If you have average hearing… then you might get annoyed.
6) There are a LOT of corporate rentals. They can get loud. At first I thought they did Air BnB… but then I did some research and discovered that there are several corporate rentals in the building. I find that these guests were often quite loud in the hallways and were often in the area on vacation and would thus act accordingly… which is sort of annoying when you are trying to enjoy some peace and quiet in your home.
The good:
1) The maintenance staff is lightning fast. They responded to all the tickets I put in within a day… even though they didn’t always believe there was a problem…
2) Location. I shouldn’t have to say much more on this. It is wonderfully convenient to metro and DC.
So that is my two cents… I would have given them a two-​star rating if my deposit had been returned within the legally-​mandated timeframe… or even something close… but alas, it wasn’t and when that fact is combined with the rest of the issues I experienced, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for this complex.

Really like this complex.
The location is great. The customer service has also been very good, especially at the front desk. There is a lot of construction going on in the area but the noise does not bother me and they usually stop well before sundown. I am really impressed that I don’t hear noise from the neighbors. The floor plan is a little strange but that is minor. The common area on the top floor is great, it has a 65″ flat screen. In addition, the view of DC is also great.
I like metropolitan park. It is a great green area. The green area is kind of sectioned off for areas for dogs to poop/​pee. The larger areas are designated with signs as «pet free». Not that I hate dogs, I just wish these areas were more respected. Even if it has been cleaned up, I really would hate to lay it place where a dog has done its business, in addition it kills the grass.
The pool is nice but only 3 feet deep and is about 10×10 foot.
The gym is sufficient although it does not have everything. It has never been so busy that I could not get in a workout.
It has a stationary climbing wall that I have never seen anyone use. I think this space could be used for a smith press machine instead. It could use a power station to do dips and pull ups.
The gym has the following:
3 Matrix treadmills
3 ehlipticals
1 horizontal bike.
2 spin bikes
the climbing wall. (kind of like a hampster wheel for climbing)
Dumbells from 5 – 60 pounds with two multi-​position benches.
Several palletes balls and set of medicine balls
1 horizontal leg squat machine
1 machine that allows for bench press, incline bench press, and shoulder press.
1 machine that allows for seated rows and lat pull downs.
1 machine for curls and tricep extensions.
A seated quad extension and hamstring curl machine.

I absolutely loved living here and I’m sad to move because of work. The finishes are beautiful, the staff is courteous and responsive and I always feel welcome and safe here. Amenities are amazing, I love showing off the view from the roof to friends and family. Plus, you just can’t beat the location, 5 min walk to the metro, so many bus stops nearby and there’s also capital bikeshare down the street. I would recommend this property to anyone! Make Millennium your new home :-)

Like the place but it’s really noisy with the construction, and their towing service will tow you even if you paid and have a valid sticker.

I recently moved out of the Millennium and had lived there since the building opened more than 4 years ago. I chose it because the location was convenient to the metro and I liked the floor plan because it had a lot of storage and closet space and a big kitchen. However, I have never been happy with the management from day one. They are slow to respond and sometimes rude. In addition, if you choose to live here, do not live on the Costco side of the building unless you can sleep through anything. The walls are also thin and you can hear your neighbors.
My most recent frustration was an issue with my kitchen sink. For about 6 months, my sink would make loud gurgling noises and then garbage disposal waste would back up into the sink making the apartment smell awful and like methane, not to mention the mess in the sink I had to clean each time. The waste was not from me as it was food I had not put down the disposal. I put in multiple maintenance requests. Sometimes these would stay open for weeks because they could not find the issue. I was also not the only apartment with this problems as my neighbor was having the same problem. I could not use my sink because it would back up. So their solution was to offer me to carry my dirty dishes down the hall to an empty apartment to wash them. I found this entire situation completely unacceptable. An unusable kitchen sink for months is not OK. I believe I could have asked to move and break my lease because of this.
Their communication is also awful. When I recently needed to move out, they never confirmed they received my vacancy notice, never scheduled a walk through, and never told me what I needed to do with my utilities. It would also take days in some cases to get this information. They are also charging me a month’s rent for breaking my lease. I understand why break lease policies are in place. But I also understand that concessions can be made under certain circumstances. Their level of poor customer service and lack of urgency when I did not have a usable kitchen sink makes me never want to live at a Kettler property again.

I completely disagree with many of the negative reviews found here. I have found management to be extremely helpful when I needed them. I live on the Costco side and yes there is noise but with the windows closed, you can hardly hear it. The front desk: Sonan usually works the day shift and is GREAT! The gym in the building is fine. There are 3 treadmills, 2 elliptical machines and 3 stationary bikes plus plenty of weight machines and free-​weights. What more does a person need? I’ve lived here for just at 2 years and if the military weren’t moving us, we’d renew our lease. The building is walking distance (5min) from the pentagon city metro stop and about a 15 minute walk from the pentagon. Also, restaurants, shopping, post office, nail salon, and ups are all within walking distance. The Millennium at Metropolitan Park is a great place to live and is in a great location!

I just moved here from FL and I am loving every minute of it! The apartments are well above my expectations. The convenience of the location is hands down one of the best in town with the metro, Costco, the five story mall, Pentagon Row, and Crystal City all within easy walking distance. Michele and Ben in the leasing office have really helped me with the transition and they always have their door open. The amenities are crazy just look for yourself (
) they are literally exactly how you see it on the website super clean and really really nice. I have had an easy time meeting people here too a lot of the residence hangout downstairs below the building at Epic Steak House (which is pretty epic PS). Most the people in the building I would say are young professionals so the place seem pretty vibrant at all times. I cant wait for summer to get on the rooftop pool! Anyway come check the place out I don’t think you will be disappointed and if you move in let me know!

Love love the Millennium! My fiancé and I moved in two weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. The staff was excellent, especially Michelle. She was so patient with us showing us multiple different floor plans until we found the one that was right for us.
So far we’re really impressed with the building. The rooftop pool and gym make us feel like we’re living at a resort, and the building is always immaculately clean. I think my absolute favorite thing is how quiet the building is. I can’t hear my neighbors or anything around me, which is great when I need to unwind.
The area is excellent too; lots to do! Hope/​plan to live here for several years.

I moved in to the Millennium at Metropolitan Park last January and decided not to renew my lease. The main reason I decided on Millennium was because of the sales agent we had (Keon) who is sadly no longer with the building. He was amazing, responsive, helpful and a true pleasure to work with. He gave us so much information about the building and all the benefits you get when renting at a Kettler property. Although I would have to agree that Kettler does have a lot of benefits, I will say that the management team and Millennium doesn’t help when you want to make good on those benefits.
When we moved in, we originally wanted an apartment facing the city (not Costco) and they didn’t have any. We were told that if one came available that we would have the option of moving to that unit with no fees. After inquiring several times and even trying to move to the property next door (Gramercy) we got very little help and zero response from any sales manager. It felt as if they did what they needed to do and said what they needed to say to get us to sign a lease and then they didn’t care. It’s primarily for this reason that we did not renew our lease. We saw the same apartment across the hall from us turnover 3 times over the last year and yet we were never offered to move.
Now, there are good things about this building. They are 100% non-​smoking and extremely pet friendly and I have found the concierge team to be very nice and helpful when needed. The apartments are beautiful but very deceiving without furniture in them. They are 60% kitchen and 40% living room and lots of wasted space so it feels very very small.
Warning to all future renters: Do not live on the Costo side and keep in mind that they are doing construction on a new apartment building right next door and construction goes until 9pm and starts as early as 7am. Between the Costco loading dock, cart collecting, power washing the parking lot and the construction, be prepared for lots of noise. Oh, and this isn’t general city noise so don’t be fooled. I’ve lived in a major metropolitan city for the last 6 years and there is a big difference between this noise and city noise.
Overall we had a good year but the lack of follow up for a new apartment and noise was just too much to overlook when considering signing a new lease.

My girlfriend made an appointment to look at some of the apartments at 12:30pm. The leasing agent was 30 minutes late, so she walked out. We didn’t want to believe this apartment was that bad from all the awful online reviews, unfortunately we were wrong. Who teaches these people customer service? Don’t they read any of their reviews? Just plain awful.

Love the new and modern fixtures no popcorn ceilings here. And the concierge is super helpful and great except on the weekend. I’m not a fan of the floor plans there kinda weird and the is a lot of wasted space, but we have a 2 bedroom corner unit and we love the floor to ceiling windows. Also we have a small dog and they are really dog friendly here a great place to live if you have a pet and they don’t have a weight limit.
Yes you live across from the Costco and it can be loud and busy, but no different then any other city living if you want peace and quiet move out of the city. Shopping is convenient as is its location to the metro is great super convenient for getting in and out of DC.

I live here. It’s a nice building and that’s about it. I wake up at 4:30 every morning to Costco trucks beeping with deliveries. The Gigantic carts are littered about the property an Pentagon City. Fern St is a madhouse on the weekends. I had a loaner car towed from my own «reserved» spot and had to pay $ 125 because management didn’t check with me to see if it was my loaner. Concierge service is nice. Gym is under equipped and not open ²⁴⁄₇. Management could be much better. They don’t treat you like this is your home. They treat you like another number. Get in line for the Millennium at Metropolitan Park. I will not be renewing.

I have lived at both the Ketler properties and in the past have endorsed them. After moving out of the millennium I have had extreme difficulty getting information on my deposit and a referral fee. It has been four months since I have moved out and cannot even get the property manager to answer the phone or return my calls. I guess they aren’t looking for return customers. Bad business practice!

I live there. It’s okay. Standard for new construction in NOVA. Shiny fixtures, modern kitchens, granite countertops, overpriced by %20, apathetic building management.
