I spend 15 $ for bamboo shoots in watered down green curry sauce.(I ordered green curry chicken) This place is lacking some serious flavor. Also my portion size was made for a small child. But I guess that was fine since I couldn’t eat anything passed 3 bites. The only positive was how friendly and nice they were.

This is a really excellent restaurant. The food is different and has a great taste. The sauces are quite special. We had green curry beef and chicken with eggplant. Francisco, from Bogota, was with us and he was especially fond of the green currently beef.

My dad loves this place! He’s from Thailand, so he prefers authentic food, and he is a very picky eater. Personally, I really like this place too! Most of my Thai friends fall in love with the Floating market noodle soup. Fried fish, Pad thai and Papaya salad are pretty solid. They do serve Papaya salad with fermented fish too! For that the fermented fish option, I don’t have any comment cause I personally don’t like preserved fish. Anyways, If you want to find a place to have authentic Thai food, you definitely check this place out!

I’m giving a two star review because of the GrilledHalf Chicken with Sticky rice. Chicken was extremely dry and tasted old and rancid. Do not order this dish. It’s disappointing. Other food are pretty ok.

This is one of my husband’s favorite Thai restaurants mainly for the crispy duck which is completely battered. Overall all the dishes we tasted were good but it did come at a price. There is also some complicated parking too if you don’t get a spot on the street, but the waitresses are sure to make sure you don’t get towed. We also tried the crispy pork belly with vegetables, beef massaman curry, pad see ew and the fried tofu/bean curd. The pork belly was recommended to us but I didn’t love it. All the dishes were good overall. I saw a few people get the floating market soup too. Place is clean and not too big with good service.

This is authentic Thai food. I love the Floating Market noodle soup; there are so many levels of flavor. It’s comfort food. The dish is something you would find at any Thai street market… But better! Their honey duck is also next level, perfectly crispy and not overwhelmingly sweet. I have to admit the food here is better than Bangkok 54. But Bangkok 54 has a better ambiance. My mom even loves the place, and Asian moms are harsher than a NY Times food critic.

I tried rice with fried crispy pork with vegetable(Kana moo krob), and it was so good. As I’m Thai, I think this one was just like my mother cooked for me when I was in Thailand. I love it. Tip: you should eat this kind of pork at once. Don’t let it be left over, otherwise it’ll become too sticky.

Great Thai. Great Service. The chef will allow some modifications which pleased me alot. The Food was very flavorful, fresh, and the portion size was perfect. My only complaint was the same that in have with every Thai restaurant — can you please give me more of the yummy basil/garlic/chili sauce please, pretty pretty, please. But they always say no. smh.

Really good Thai food! Better than Bangkok 54! Yeah, I know some of my Unilocal friends will disagree, but I think Thai Square had the best Thai food I’ve had in Arlington. Great pad kee mow Awesome beef with chili and mini leaves Solid pad thai — oddly enough, the other two things we had were better. And we love pad thai. So, give it a shot. Even have parking in the back.

This place once was the best find around. Quality Thai for a fair price. The food is fantastic; you can look at the menu today and not much has changed however don’t expect value! The owners have selected popular items that have a relatively low food cost and over the past year or two jacked the price 40% higher. Crispy squid with basil. Amazing flavor and popular overpriced. Crab fried rice underpriced… The place does look amazing. The lines are shorter every year. The neighborhood has increased rents and the restaurant logic is flawed. We like a value. Thai should not cost $ 65 for two people

Best Thai food I have had! Food are so authentic! Service was nice as well. I have been here numerous times and I have tried different things here every time. So far, I haven’t been disappointed! When I go back to visit, I will surely stop by again.

This review is for takeout, so I can’t really comment on the service or ambiance. But the food was just not that great, and with several other Thai options around, I can’t really see myself going back. The tom yum soup was probably the best thing we ordered, although it was a little too sweet, without enough spice or depth of flavor. The crispy squid with basil had a nice gentle heat, but the squid itself was fried in large, dense balls that were very chewy. I can’t really understand how this became a Unilocal favorite, unless our order was just an apparition. And the country style curry was more of a soup. The flavor was ok, but very mild, and the serving was as tiny as the appetizer portion of tom yum soup(which cost $ 4 less).

What has been described to me as the«crown jewel» of Columbia Pike’s Thai restaurants truly delivered on service, hospitality, and, most importantly, food. I visited on a rainy Saturday night with my boyfriend, and we were definitely famished and ready to get food into our bellies. Service was very quick and attentive. Even though the restaurant’s space is small and the layout has been maximized to fit the most number of tables possible, we were able to get seated quickly and promptly had water served to our table. Our server was warm and very willing to give us recommendations. We decided on the pad see ew and pad lard na, both with beef. We also ordered Thai iced coffee and tea. Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, our order was delivered after no more than 15 minutes. Now, I don’t know much about Thai authenticity as a non-Thai individual, but the food was hot, delicious, and tasted fresh. The pad see ew was deliciously sweet and salty(without going overboard on either side of that spectrum), and the pad lard na had these absolutely flavorful chinese broccoli greens. The only downside was how much gravy accompanied the pad lard na(definitely borderline soupy), but that was more my fault by not inquiring into the specifics of the dish. Nevertheless, our two entrées were still fantastic! And our drinks were great as well — not too sweet, but packing that caffeinated hit I needed after a long day. Finishing up, my boyfriend ended up wanting dessert so we ordered mango and sticky rice. It was literally just that — sliced mango and warm sticky rice with coconut milk. But the mango was soft and perfectly ripe while the sticky rice had a great texture and warm sweetness with the coconut. My only wish was for the mango to be chilled to provide a nice contrast, but overall a very satisfying sweet ending! Final tips: — Parking can be tight behind the restaurant, but the lot for the nearby Boston Market and Papa John’s shopping center is fairly empty — Thai Square serves different condiments that you can add to your dishes to adjust flavor/spice level. Definitely inquire and ask(so that you don’t inadvertently dump tons of red hot chili powder into your food) for recs!

Thai Square is a place that I’ve heard a lot about. Traditional Thai food that is cooked the right way. Came here with my fiancée and ordered a couple apps, entrees, and drinks. Their papaya salad was too spicy, I mean even for thai spice, it was on another level. They noticed that it was too spicy for us, since we didn’t touch after our first bite, so they offered to make a new one for us, but all they did was washed the salad out with water and brought it back to the table. This time it was worst, because you can taste the water and the spice. Terrible move to save on a salad that cost them less then a dollar to make. The pad thai was too wet, noodles were over cooked, and breaking. Poorly cooked. The drunken noodles was pretty good, but very oily. Service: the service was good, nice, and aware of our facial reaction to the whole salad experience. Overall, I cannot say that I would go back! Something as simple as a salad being taken back to the kitchen only to be rinse off and serve right back on the plate is a no-go. Knowing this, I wouldn’t be surprise if they were to serve food that is going bad because they want to make sure they make profit off of it.

Dear business owner — It’s time to upgrade your business to be able to handle your apparent growth and popularity. The first time I called you, you couldn’t take orders because you did not have a delivery driver. The second time was a success. Tonight — on the third attempt — you first claimed you had a 1hr 45 min wait for delivery, whereupon I agreed that that was far too long and hung up the phone. Then, after confirming my Thai craving and need to work tonight vs. spend time cooking and cleaning-up, I called back and was willing to wait. Unfortunately, the person on the other end of the line shut me down and said that you have too many orders and only 1 driver. Moral of the story? It’s clearly time to hire a second delivery driver, if not a back-up/alternate part-time driver. Or have a few options as part-time contract workers. Or a wide variety of options — but clearly you all have not been growing fast enough as a business to meet the demands of your popularity, and therefore I am now having a recurring negative customer experience as a result. Please resolve, as I like your food the best. Thanks!

In at 10:00pm out by 10:20pm…efficient staff & quick service is this restaurant’s mantra. The décor is minimalistic & the cloth napkins add a nice touch(nothing about paper napkins is classy!) Started off with the ice tea which was yum! The red curry was delicious! Flavorful, fragrant, savor-worthy…Just how a thai curry should be. I’m not a big pad thai fan but this one was pretty good. Not too oily… Totally tasty! The only downside was the feeling of being rushed. Our server had come to take our order even before we got our coats off… The check was there before the food was gone. Having your server constantly look at you isn’t really all that comfortable when you are trying to enjoy your meal… gulp! All said & done… The food was the star of the visit & at the end of the day that’s what counts!

Thai Square was good but not exemplary. We decided to get take-out, including Pad Thai with Chicken, Crispy Duck with Basil, and Green Curry with Beef. All were somewhat pricey, especially for the area and the amount we received(which wasn’t all that large, at least in comparison to competitors in the area). The Pad Thai was AWESOME — definitely«up there» in terms of my favorite pad thai in the D.C./V.A. area, though there are some better/cheaper options at competitors nearby. The Crispy Duck with Basil was definitely interesting and very crispy — which tasted kinda cool — but honestly lacked enough duck meat to have any taste but fried duck skin with basil leaves. This is definitely something I recommend trying, but not a dish I’d consider a good entrée — it seems best shared. The Green Curry was okay, but definitely needed more meat and vegetables — I honestly felt like it was a bit lacking in substance other than the sauce itself. I felt like the remains of the stuff made to make the sauce were just left in or something, though that obviously wasn’t the case. All in all, this place was a good experience, but I’d definitely recommend trying other better/cheaper places in the area. Also, MAJORWARNING — Parking here is AWFUL. There isn’t really a parking area nearby except on the(perpetually packed) street, and the people who run nearby parking lots are aggressive about towing. This is not an easy place to get to by any means.

We somewhat reluctantly decided to give Thai square a try after being dedicated Bangkok 54 fans for the last 6 years. We just had a baby so we placed a delivery order on a busy Saturday night. They told us it would take about an hour to an hour and a half. It ended up being just under an hour for the delivery to arrive. We ordered our three favorite dishes that we usually order from Bangkok 54 so we could compare fairly. The pricing at Thai Square was about $ 6 in total more than the same exact order from Bangkok. Here’s how the roundup: –crispy squid with basil: comparable if not slightly better than Bangkok’s version. Crispy and spicy but not overly so. –crispy duck with basil: more deep fried than the Bangkok version so although still good, I give the edge to Bangkok –Pad Thai with chicken: Thai square is the clear winner here. I like Bangkok’s version but Thai square’s was less sweet(in a good way) and more authentic. As I mentioned, these dishes are a little higher priced than the same dishes at Bangkok 54. In the end, it was a satisfying and yummy meal so we would definitely order from Thai square again. Happy to say we’ve found another great Thai restaurant in the Arlington area!

Why did my Unilocal review disappear!?! I have wrote about Thai Square a few times and updates included. Here is my quick thought process on my regular dishes I get form here – — Lad Na is better tasting at Bangkok 54. — Pad Thai is better here than Bangkok 54 or Ricome. — Prices are similar to the other two Thai places within 50 feet of Thai Square. The quality is good, and I appreciate that they do QUICK to-go orders. On any given night I never have to wait more than 10 minutes after ordering my to-go order over the phone to go pick it up. Literally from the time I am off the phone to the time I show up to Thai Square and walk to the counter, it is sitting there hot and ready. My only reason for 3 the stars is I have never been impressed with the quality of customer service here. A lot of the dine-in experiences have been mediocre and less than exciting. The servers are aloof and not really concerned about your refill of water or not. Maybe I just show up at bad times? Many on the Pike would argue that Thai Square is probably the best Thai food on the block. I don’t know if I would go that far, but they do offer up some solid options for reasonable pricing.
