Completely horrible place! Filled with hidden fees and inaccuracies!!!
How difficult is it to give me the correct trial pair of contact lenses. I had to come back four different times before they got it correct. And when I mentioned that I would like a different brand of daily contacts they said that I would have the come back in the see the doctor and pay for another exams. NEVER EVER have I had to come back in to to test out another pair. I wouldn’t wish this expertise on my worst enemy!
I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you are a complete masochist who wants to be robbed blind !!!

Went in today because I had bought a living social deal for just the glasses last May. I was able to pick out my glasses (not designer, but still. good choices) and John, was great. I gave him my lens prescription and he said he was able to cut the lens that day! My fiancé and I went to another store and John called me within 45 minutes to tell me my glasses where ready! I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency and love my new glasses so far!

This MyEyeDr is the best in the area, period. And — in my experience — they’re willing to work with you to ensure you get the best deal.
For consumers, my advice is still to do your homework ahead of your purchase to make sure you’re aware of the market and know what the prices ought to be. Google search the glasses you want, and see what prices show at legitimate retailers — or are recommended by the manufacturer themselves.
If you’re planning to buy glasses using insurance, call your insurance ahead of time, and understand what that will afford you.
This may sound like a lot work. But in the murky world of insurance, medicine, and eyeware, knowledge pays.
This store in particular, MyEyeDr Pentagon City, will meet you at a fair place.

The Dr. was ok but because of the incapacity of the people in the front office who gave me a wrong prescription, I suffered from excessive pressure on my eye and severe headache for two weeks! At first I thought it was because it was a new prescription but after two weeks of my eyes not adjusting themselves and rather than improving my vision making everything seem blurry and me seeing objects two or multiple, I went back to recheck my prescription and turned out that they had made a mistake while writing it. I had to change my glasses once again and I’m yet to receive my new glasses.

I’m a dour, difficult to please generally disgruntled type person. And I had some difficulties with my prescription (unrelated to their work). However the employees of this store are relentlessly sunny and helpful. They were prompt, polite and proactive recommending solutions. I highly recommend this establishment and I don’t recommend much of anything.

I had high expectations for this location as I used to be a patient at the MyeyeDr. Stafford, VA Location back in 2009 and the experience was great. I changed eye doctors since then in Baltimore, MD where I visited a small and locally operated eye doctor office (Federal Hill Eye Care) who was/​is Amazing. Thus, I naturally expected an all star experience going to this eye doctor.
This place was very easy to make an appointment with and the location is also very convenient for me. The store itself is very small and I would best describe the experience for picking out glasses to be somewhat intimate. If you like your privacy while shopping for eye wear you might want to pick an off time to visit this location to best fit your needs. The waiting room was very tiny but fit and was separated from the eyewear shoppers. Overall, esthetically its a nice place with what looked like a fair amount of eye wear optical options.
I found the eye Doctor who performed my annual eye examination to be very knowledgeable and kind. I found his practices and recommendations to be that of a small and locally operated business which I liked because it felt like he genuinely cared about my eye needs. After examination his recommendation was to try out the contact prescription he had recommended and to call back if I’m having any issues. Therefore, it was not recommended that I buy eyewear or contacts until its confirmed that my prescription fits my needs.
After my examination I was paired up with an eye wear specialist to finalize my paperwork and check me out. I provided my insurance information when I checked in so I assumed my paperwork was final and ready to go. I had to wait 15 minutes for the specialist to type data from my examination into the computer. I had to not tell the specialist not once but repeatedly that the doctor recommended I wait to proceed with picking out eyewear or purchasing contacts as he was trying to push this on me. Once finalized I was told I had to pay a $ 97 fee on top of my examination because I wear contacts and myeyedr HAS to charge you if you ALREADY wear contacts and IF it is determined that your prescription changed. After an extended conversation regarding myeyedr process and practices it was determined that process foul on their part and I didn’t have to pay the fee… but what if I didn’t complain? that is not fair.
Furthermore, if you ask this location for validated parking they will tell you to go to Nordstrom, therefore if you spend 3 hours in your appointment and picking out glasses it is going to cost you a lot in parking unless you go to Nordstrom and buy something and get validated parking.
Overall, go into this appointment well informed on the practices of myeyedr, what your insurance covers, and an understanding the process and you will be ok.

I have bought two glasses from here. The first was great, went fine. I think I remember a little negotiation. I bought a second pair too. This one had problems. The lease popped out once; they fixed it for free no problem. It popped out again; they identified that the lens was cut too big and took it in for repairs. When I got it back I asked about something, and in doing that they noticed another problem… A stripped screw. So the guy up and replaced the frame for me.
Normally a defective product requiring me to go back to the store multiple times would warrant a low review. But the people there were so nice and helpful! Didn’t charge or anything, and really took time to try to fix it, including just replacing the frame for free.
I appreciate how KO and Diego were in particular so helpful, but everyone was great!

Was contacted personally by the general manager, Freddie, who went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. This was the type of response that I was hoping for when I had originally called and was trying to get help with my prescription.

My husband and I both came into the office on two separate days, a Saturday and a Sunday. The weekend staff were very helpful and took their time with us even though the office was really busy. Kevin was the employee that helped both of us with purchasing my contacts and my husband’s glasses, he was patient through the whole process and answered all the questions we had about our insurance benefits. I will recommend visiting the Pentagon City mall MyEyeDr to all my friends looking to me vision appointments.

This week I went into the Pentagon City branch store to get my «MyEyeDr.» purchased (four figure Oliver Peoples) frames adjusted. After they were done; I noticed my vision was not quite right; it even felt quite blurry. I immediately complained. They said that’s normal; and that I should take 15 minutes walk around the mall — and my eyes will get used to it. «This is very normal.» They said the issue is that they adjusted my glasses so they actually fit on my face; and that I simply was not used to that…
I waited twenty minutes before driving home as I had an engagement to get to; I could see decently well and figured I just had to get used to it.
Throughout the week, I still senses some blurriness but could see more or less fine. I was extremely busy with work this week and tried not to think about the slight blurriness.
On the weekend, I had to drive 45 minutes to an event — and was nearly in a serious car accident. As it turned out, the blurriness had adversely impacted my peripheral vision…
Well, enough was enough. I went into the Clarendon location — after about 30 minutes of waiting they finally concluded that the other branch mistakenly switched the lenses and they were on the wrong eyes!!!
I’m glad I was at least persistent enough to check out my glasses before it was too late!
THAT IS BUSH LEAGUE — PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT BY THIS NEGLIGENCE! BUYER BEWARE!

The most unprofessional eye care people I have dealt with. After an eye exam, they referred me to another optometrist for a glaucoma test since they didn’t have the right equipment on site. I couldn’t use this referral since their preferred optometrist didn’t accept my insurance, so I had to go somewhere else.
However myeyedr did not share medical records thoroughly with my optometrist, so had to repeat a whole variety of tests unnecessarily.
Also they concluded my prescription had changed when it hadn’t — and were aggressive in trying to get me to get my new glasses with them and confusing in laying out the options using my insurance.
To be fair, the actual doctor who did the exam was very good and patient. Thumbs up to her. The staff however are a piece of work.
Never again.

We had a glasses emergency (aka glasses were broken) and after going to 2 other stores that couldn’t help us, Shawn was incredibly patient, helpful and accommodating. We left in 30 minutes with new glasses!

The customer service here is great. I had them make a pair of glasses for me. That experience was very pleasant and they gave me all kinds of discounts to make up for the fact that they didn’t take my insurance. It ended up being very reasonably priced. They read the prescription wrong when making the glasses. I couldn’t figure that out until I went back to my eye doctor and she told me that they misread the prescription. Anyway. By the time I went back to have them fix it I was outside their 90day policy to remake the lenses. But they didn’t give me any problems and said they would remake them for free because it was their fault.
I appreciate that everything was so hassle free and everyone is so friendly.

I have purchased a few pairs of glasses from 2 different MyEyeDr locations and have had mixed service experiences. The doctors are generally decent for the exam, but the sales tactics can be pushy. I went in last year for a new pair of glasses and the charges kept adding up, but it is all negotiable.
This year I ended up using my warranty because the lenses were scratched, when I took it in, they replaced the lenses within a few days. They glasses just didn’t feel right so I called them to explain, they said since the warranty had now expired, there was nothing they could do. I finally went for my yearly eye exam and brought my two pairs of glasses. The doctor asked me if I was getting lots of headaches wearing the ones from MyEyeDr. I said yes, how did you know. He said the pupil distance is totally incorrect and that it must have been someone who didn’t know what they were doing making my lenses. When I explained this to MyEyeDr they said they don’t keep track of pupil distances so they person who had to replace my lenses took an estimate without actually measuring.
Won’t be returning.

I had an annual eye exam about a month ago and I was experiencing some allergy issues under one of my eye lids. The doctor that I saw suggested an over the counter drop and said that if it didn’t work to give a call and she would write a perscription for something stronger. I tried her suggestion for a month and saw no improvement. I called to ask for a perscription to be called in and waited for over 10 minutes before being told that the doctor I saw was no longer with the company. I was told that I would have to come in for a new appointment with another doctor in order to be given a perscription. Then I was told that I really needed to see a specialist.
There seems to be a lack in communication within the office if a doctor is no longer with the organization and the people answering the phones are unaware. Additionally, it would have been nice to have been refered to a specialist upon my initial visit instead of wasting a month trying an over the counter drop that was apparently never going to work in the first place. I will not use this company again in the future nor would I recommend them.

Went in for my annual eye exam. Everyone was exceptionally nice and the staff worked with me to order a year’s worth of daily contacts and a new pair of frames and lenses. I picked up the glasses when they were promised without a problem! Highly recommend.

Called here to use my eye insurance — something I’ve never had until now (damned aging). The doc who gave me the eye exam was good — she was friendly, patient, and took the time to ensure I understood what was going on.
The glasses staff, however, is a totally different story.
Glasses are sold like cars — they’re constantly trying to upsell you and get you to buy top line frames, get 30,000 coatings on the lenses, and whatever other gimmick they have that day. On top of that, it takes them over a week to get the glasses made — you would think that the various diopters would be available in their lens inventory. Nope.
They ended up making my glasses wrong and getting the axis flipped — so I ended up with a headache at the end of the first day. When I took them back, the guy in the shop said they would take a look and adjust the lenses.
Turns out, he did nothing.
I went back again and was protesting rather loudly to the girl at the register and the eye doctor called me in to ask what was wrong. When I explained the problem, she measured the glasses, frowned, exhaled forcefully, and then asked me to wait. I heard her go outside and chastise the sales people and ask who helped me the first time around. Long story short, she got the axis corrected and now I wear the glasses with no problem.
If you do have insurance or are just getting glasses for the first time, I recommend you go in October/​November. I went in December and ran into this human morass attempting to spend their benefits (myself included) before they expire. No more.

I used a Groupon a few weeks ago for an eye exam and to purchase glasses. After a thorough and friendly eye exam with Dr. Zaer, I chose Michael Kors frames ($ 250 retail). I ordered the glasses with Ivar, who was also nice and knowledgeable. At the time, I didn’t have my old Rx with me for comparison, and the first pair of glasses I picked up a few days later made me dizzy. I brought them back in, Dr. Zaer rechecked my eyes, and they ordered new lenses for me as part of the guaranty. I just picked up my glasses today, and I LOVE them! They also worked with me on discounts. I ended up paying a bit more than I had budgeted, but it was fairly reasonable.
Overall, super friendly staff, responsive customer service, and a great product!

Okay, last update with respect to my original visit.
So quick news flash: Both the manager and asst. manager are named Alejandro. I was informed that the former now goes by «Alex» and the latter with the full formal «Alejandro.» I premise this because otherwise I’d be talking about two different Alejandros.
So I have been talking to Alex (manager) since middle of last week. We agreed on a pair of glasses, which had to be ordered. Alex had been really quick about the emails, even a small hiccup regarding the right color.
I was notified that my order had come in today. My schedule is such that I had to come in today (Tuesday), but Alex was not going to be there. I was asked to talk to Alejandro (Asst. Manager).
Alejandro understands my frustrations buying glasses (I have a larger head, which restricts what I can get my hands on). He was very helpful in making sure the frames fit, and was incredibly informative.
In addition, Alejandro was collegial and professional. He knew what was in the store, and since I understand that larger frames don’t really get a lot of supply in individual stores, he mentioned that if we didn’t find something right then, he’d help me eventually find something.
I will be returning to this location very soon to place a second order.
My initial visit to the store was an anomaly.

I had a pleasant experience here. Upon my arrival I was greeted and asked what I needed. I had come in for a walk-​in eye glasses appointed and although I came on a Saturday afternoon they were able to see me no more than 30 minutes. Which gave me enough time to browse through their selection of eye glasses.
The girl that did the pre-​exam was nice and even gave me a travel size bottle of contact solution for free. Then shortly after, about 5 – 10 minutes in the waiting area a woman did my exam. I don’t remember her name but she was very kind. I specifically told her to please be very thorough with my exam because my last experience wasn’t a good one. She was and I have no complaints.
Two men helped me choose frames and they were patience and kind as well. I liked how they weren’t pushy when I had trouble figuring what frames I like. They carry a wide selection and even have brand names like Ray Ban and Chanel. In the end I didn’t find a pair of glasses I liked so I just paid for my exam and left. No pushy sales man to make me buy their glasses.
I overall had a good experience and I would recommend this place to a friend.
However, take note, they run specials on eye wear, have coupons, and I think even living social/​groupon deals for frames and lenses. They cost of frames here are a tab expensive. The Ray Ban eye glasses were around $ 220. The lenses I do not know how much cost but I’m sure add up. So I guess if you had a coupon the overall price for your glasses may be reasonable. But I went over to Costco the same day and bought some better looking Ray Ban’s (in my opinion/​fit my face better) for $ 99.
