Getting lasik done on your eyes is obviously a scary thought, so finding the right physician to perform the procedure goes without saying. One thing I know, is you want to stay away from corporate chains, which really narrowed down the field. Then the deal-​maker is truly Dr. Brand, who has successfully treated more patients than any lasik surgeon living in Illinois. The other thing I figured out after doing my homework, was that Vision One has some of the most competitive pricing in the entire Chicago area… If you’re looking to get corrective laser eye surgery done, I definitely recommend this this center.

I am APPALLED that this place is still in business! I did not even get my surgery because after my initial consult, I was treated as though I was more of an annoyance than a patient. When their machine broke, the day of my surgery, I was not immediately rescheduled. I was told I would be contacted by Tuesday, I was not, I had to contact them. And then was again treated as though I was an inconvenience and that I was not important. They told me that their surgeon, who was going to initially perform my PRK with their normal machine, now would not, as, apparently something had changed. They stated that their surgeon was only going to be their ONE weekend during August, the last one. I am a teacher. My first appointment was July 8, so I had plenty of time to recover and what-​not. I now cannot receive the surgery because I will not have time to recover before the school year starts. I was treated poorly almost every time I called. I will spend more money on a place that actually cares about their patients.

My follow up appointment to Lasik was a quick 10 minutes checkup at the Arlington Heights office, in and out with Dr. Brand. It was during this appointment that my vision was found to already be corrected to ²⁰⁄₂₀ and free of the irritation that lasted for a couple hours after surgery. In fact, the doctor promised me to go above and beyond my expectations and indicated that my vision would improve to ²⁰⁄₁₅ by the end of the summer. Now that I have had the time to truly verify the PROMISES made at this Vision One LASIK Center instead of just posing as fanboy proclaiming that its gonna be a bright, bright, sun shiney day — let me be blunt.
Promises:
1) My vision will go from being barely able to see a computer screen to better than normal (20:15) two weeks after the surgery.
2) Post op night glare would improve so much that… I can see clearly now!
3) Hazy vision in dim light after the procedure would clear up
These promises have all been kept. The staff at this location somehow knew my name and greeted me as I walked in, so that was a nice touch of professional customer service that merits the 5^th elusive star. Thanks everyone!

Price wise this is the cheapest I’ve seen the procedure at $ 1900 with the Groupon. I went for the consultation before I purchased the Groupon but I was still surprised that for such a large purchase for a Groupon that it was not a scam. LVI charged $ 3300 with a supposed 20% discount because the sun was shining. LASIK plus wanted my leg and $ 3750 also with a $ 600 discount because the sky is blue.
You see and talk to the doctors more than other places that have you with a tech most of the time. Yes, you’ll be there on the day of the surgery for 3 – 4 hours because they have people go in groups. The whole procedure takes about less than five minutes. I was able to see almost immediately. I even went out to eat afterwards. Discomfort is the best word to describe some of the unpleasant sensation regarding the surgery, but there is no pain.
Two weeks later, I can see without any aid better than ever. You have to wear the goggles for a week while you sleep and take two eye drops four times a day as well, but that’s no big deal. My vision is still improving as it takes a couple of months to fully heal.
So I would definitely recommend going here unless you wanna pay double the price at LVI or LASIK plus. Best investment so far.

I was worried at first but I’m so glad I took the decision to get lasik! I was blind as a bat and now I can see ²⁰⁄₂₀. I bought a groupon since going with my eye insurance would have cost a lot more. There are several things you should know before considerin lasik. Realize that you will have to wear your glasses for 2 weeks before your surgery since contacts change the shape of your eye. Who knew? I wore glasses for three weeks and the dr. Said I had one of the best corneas. The lasik surgery gets done in Lombard and you’ll do a post appt and I did mine at the Arlington Hts office. You will not be able to fly, workout, and do extreme activities for a week. Pool for a month and the ocean for 90 days. And you’ll see some halos around lights, which is very normal. So think about when you do your operation, but do it! Seeing ²⁰⁄₂₀ is one of the best things ever! No more glasses or contacts! Woohoo!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE! Its a scam! If i could give them 0 stars I would. I bought a groupon (first mistake) for an eye exam and 215 towards prescription glasses. I went in and did the eye exam and then purchased the glasses. First of all, the discount on the glasses is a scam, they give you the same discount with or without the groupon, so your paying the extra $ 50 for nothing. The next day I called to get my prescription and they refused to give it to me unless i came back in and did a «contact fitting» which cost another $ 50-​$ 100. WHAT A RIPOFF! Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable company that will treat you fairly.

I only can say, I am very happy I did it, Dr. B Brand, Dr. Burger and Dr. J. Brand you guys are awesome, thank you thank you, for giving me this awesome vision!!! I am really happy happy happy to be able to see again. I wish I have done it long time ago. I recommend it very much.

The waiting for the surgery is long, but I can see why… there is lots of paper work to fill, payment, the tutorial video and the doctors has like 15 surgeries in schedule. the procedure is like a blink of an eye, seriously…
just a suggestion for the doctors,… Maybe I was a little nervous, but the ladies in the front desk should be a little more patient and warm. (my personal experience, I felt like they were a little cold, I am bilingual Spanish and English, but some words need to be explain it to me, I did the surgery, because I was in the mind set that I have to be able to see people, and I want to drive in night without any fears). after a little miss understanding, everything was great… If I have to do it all over again I will I will definitely will see Dr. B. Brand, Dr J. Jason and .Dr. Burger.

I am really happy that I FINALLY got corrective eye surgery– like everyone says, I wish I did it years ago. I was nervous to use a company that has so many groupon and youswoop deals but Vision One Lasik has professional, accredited doctors who know that selective surgery is expensive and if you want clients, you’ve got to give them a deal. My surgery was done 1 year ago and I wanted to review it to be sure I was permanently happy with my new vision. I am! I had PRK (the older and less common type of lasik) because I have «special» eyes, so if you have to have this kind, they do it too. The surgery is practically the same.
You are in the OR for less than 5 min– relax– the surgery is painless but weird because it is your eyes. The only thing that I did not like about the experience, is that the surgeon sees everyone right in a row. You wait in the pre-​room with about 25 other people and he calls you in one at a time, you watch them come and go. You all get the same pre-​surgery talk, etc. I gives you the feel of an assembly line. But that is the only negative thing I have to say.
One great thing is that you get as many follow up appointments post-​surgery as your eyes need; my eyes needed 5 and they were ALL covered by my youswoop at no additional cost. They also have many locations, so that’s a perk. I am very happy that I got my surgery.

I had my Lasik surgery on this past father’s day weekend. I decided for Lasik because I was tired of wearing glasses to see from far away but had perfect vision when it came to seeing up close and reading small print. After the surgery I can now see from far away but can no longer read small print!!! I was told my vision would improve aprox. in 1 – 3 months It’s now September and I still can no longer see small print?!! Not happy with the results!!! I have 3 family members that went to Kraft and came out with ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision immediatly! Here both me and my cousin used vision one and both are unhappy with the results!!! I do not recomend this place at all!!!

I first saw Vision One on Groupon but passed it up because I didn’t like the idea of discounted surgery. When I saw them again on Living Social and read all of their reviews, I decided to go for it. I developed an intolerance to contacts and have wanted to get Lasik done for years. I just couldn’t afford it. While I would’ve preferred a bit more «hand-​holding» around this procedure (the scariest experience of my life so far), I am thrilled that I can see everything at all times. After a month I have 20 – 20 vision, no dry eyes and no light sensitivity. Though my eyes won’t be fully healed for another 60 days, I couldn’t be happier with the results. They know what they’re doing and I’m grateful to them for making this life altering opportunity affordable to someone like me. The only surprise was that they only do the procedure at their Lombard location. A minor inconvenience for me, certainly not a deal breaker. J. Lee

I purchased the YouSwoop deal for $ 1,900 for LASIK in both eyes. First, let me say that I was very happy with the results (I’m seeing ²⁰⁄₁₅!) and whole experience.
There are some reviews that bash VisionOne for ‘long’ waits, but I would be willing to wait days if it means I’ll save $ 2,000! I have visited LASIK centers with friends, and they all operate the same way. VisionOne is very transparent about the waits (not even that bad — like 1 – 2 hours) and even offers free WiFi. Get over it, people!
The point is, the doctors are knowledgeable, I’m seeing better than 20/​20, and I probably won’t ever need contacts again!
I realize that the principle of getting LASIK ‘on sale’ might sound a little scary, but I’m SO happy I went with my gut after reading through all of the reviews. Highly recommend VisionOne!

First I want to introduce myself–
I am a 24 year old high school science teacher in the city of Chicago. I have gotten migraine headaches since I was 5 years old. One trigger that ALWAYS gave me a horrible migraine headache was when I had to put on my glasses. Because I have astigmatism and only slight vision impairment, I was not a good candidate for contacts. When Vision One Lasik offered a Groupon that saved me a ton of money, I got it. Everything in this review is 100% true and no, I am not related to anyone working in the VisionOne office.
Dr. Brand is a good guy. He cuts through the niceties and the BS and tells you exactly what you need to know about LASIK. Yes, he does sound a bit like a car salesman. That almost turned me off to this place, as I don’t respond well to sales tactics/​pressure. However, even though he was very matter-​of-​fact and salesmanlike, I could tell that he knew his stuff. He was very knowledgeable about the eye and exactly what happens during a LASIK procedure. So I went through with it.
Wow. I am glad that I did. I got the surgery in February 2011, and right now I see ²⁰⁄₁₅ vision (where before I wasn’t close to ²⁰⁄₂₀). I don’t get «glasses migraines» anymore because I was able to donate my old glasses to charity… I have no use for them anymore! The entire procedure was great.
I want to respond to Iam’s post. Yes, Burger has several offices throughout the US. No, that shouldn’t be a reason not to go here. Yes, the only time you will see Dr. Burger is on the day of your surgery. No, that doesn’t matter, because Dr. Brand is an optometrist who is very qualified to do your pre and post-​operative check-​ups. Yes, Burger has done thousands of surgeries in his career. Shouldn’t that be testimony to his quality? He wouldn’t be in business if even 1% of his surgeries were of bad quality! Think about it! If he has done 65,000 surgeries and 1% of them were «bad», that means 6,500 people would have their vision screwed up. Even if 0.1% were «bad», 650 people is a LOT. There would surely be some sort of lawsuit if that were the case.
No, Iam, it seems to me that something went wrong in YOUR surgery.
If you are considering LASIK, I highly suggest Vision One Lasik. The best part for me was knowing that Dr. Brand was there for me after surgery. I broke my special sleeping goggles and started freaking out, but he gave me a 24 hour phone number that goes straight to his cell phone. I called him late at night and he helped me with exactly what to do. I really had an excellent experience with Vision One, and if it is one of your options, I definitely recommend it to others! I would trust my family’s eyes to Dr. Brand after my excellent experience :).

I’ve always wanted to get my eyes fixed, after hearing how happy my friends and relatives are after they had their lasik. Eight years ago I went for the consultation for laser surgery, but unfortunately the result was ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. I didn’t want to risk it so I waited.
Then one day my husband found this deal on groupon. It was as if it was calling me to go for a consultation again. My husband bought the groupon, because it was refundable if I’m not qualified.
I immediately called for appointment. I found out that I was not qualified for lasik, but PRK will do perfectly fine. At first I hesitated, because I wasn’t prepared for it and knowing it’ll take longer time to heal. Then I noticed how confident the doctors are. I trusted them.
I’ve had it done for 3 weeks now and I’m still amazed how professional caring and painless the whole procedure and check up appointments were.
I would totally recommend my friends and family.

I have to agree with Eve. Dr. Brand is fabulous and his staff is great too. As a medical professional myself I admit I can be hard to please and maybe have higher expectations than most, but Dr. Brand has never disappointed. He is personable and extremely knowledgeable. I too have short visits with him… not because he is rushing or has 10 patients waiting to be seen but because he is REALLY good at what he does. They have a huge selection of frames from cheapest-​of-​the-​cheap to D&G and though they do have to be sent out to be made the turn-​around time is reasonable. My new frames were ready in 2 days and my contacts were in in 4 days. I have never had any problems with the waits to be seen, just the standard 10 – 15 minutes. If you are looking for a ophthalmologist in the northwest burbs… or are willing to drive out there for a good one Dr. Brand is your man!

I’m effing blind. Today, on my most recent of many visits to the slick, fast-​talking Dr. Brand, he actually informed me that I can’t get any blinder. «It is physically impossible for you to be more nearsighted than you are now. Your worst-​case scenario is a detached retina. Just keep your fingers crossed against that.» I’m not a candidate for LASIK (my pupils are too wide, resulting in many hilarious drug-​related comments over the years) so I’m stuck with contacts. Therefore I’ve been seeing Doc Brand for many years.
I basically harbor a paranoiac distrust of medicine and medical professionals, but this guy’s among the good ones. He’s very straightforward in communicating with his patients, doesn’t mince words or recommend BS treatments/​products I don’t need, and examines my poor shot-​to-​hell eyeballs quickly and gently. My eye exams usually take about ten minutes, although conversely the doctor often takes an obnoxiously long time getting to my appointment. Today I waited almost half an hour to even get into the exam room while he chatted with what appeared to be some pharmaceutical sales reps. Lame.
When you ain’t have no insurance, eye exams, contacts and the like are awfully expensive — this place is no exception. A three-​month supply of lenses and the eye exam ran me two hundo. Pro-​rated, that’s still not too bad for the gift of corrected vision, and Dr. Brand is one of the more pleasant guys to buy it from.
