The Wildflower Café and Bakery specializes in fresh and delicious meat-​free meals. The café serves vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as providing coffee and espresso drinks, and local beer and wine. Our bakery creates our house breads, a variety of vegan and gluten free treats, and well as the traditional indulgences. Wildflower focuses on using organic and local ingredients whenever possible. Enjoy smoothies, shakes and vibrant salads on a sunny day. Or step in for a homemade chai, local vendor Sacred Grounds coffee/​espresso, or a vegan soup on a rainy day. The Wildflower is not just good vegetarian food, its GOOD FOOD!

History

Established in 1987.

The Wildflower has been providing the city of Arcata with delicious vegetarian food for 25 years! Many regulars have been coming for decades for their house favorites. The restaurant has become a staple of the community.

First time visitor passing through town. I ordered a glass of house red wine which was very nice and balanced. For dinner I had vegan mac and cheese, which was delicious. Treated myself to a robust cup of coffee and piece of peanut butter pie for dessert.
Food: excellent taste, satisfying portions
Ambiance: nice, but I could hear music from the kitchen
Service: friendly and informed, but a little slow. I might not have noticed the slow service if I wasn’t eating alone.
Bottom line: I would absolutely go back

Good restaurant for vegans/​vegetarians, and simply the best for that in this area. I have been here many times, and sometimes you just do feel ignored due to a large amount of customers, then sometimes they are attentive. Their hours are weird so keep a heads up.
Food:
They have a good nacho cheese sauce.
Biscuits and gravy are amazing and heavy. Get the Half order if you’re not starving.
I like their steamed veg salad.
Corny’s cornbread is delicious as well.
They have some pastries that are good too but often a hit or a miss.
My boyfriend eats vegetarian and loves Eric’s burger and the espresso shake!

Loved their food! We had the tomato soup, of which I normally don’t like, but loved theirs, the Wildflower phở, and the black bean and quinoa burger. The only reason they didn’t 5 stars was for their music. Some of it was heavy metal. Not good aveiance music at all. They play it for the staff in back, not their customers. Wish they had a cookbook! We would purchase it. Hopefully they will have more customer oriented music choices next time. Would recommend.

This is the place for vegan or vegetarian food in Arcata. They will make most of the vegetarian dishes vegan, if it’s possible. My mom (omni) tried the blueberry/​brie pancakes and said they were the best pancakes she’s eaten in her life. She’s 80! She’s had a LOT of pancakes, so take this tip seriously!
My son and I each ordered a breakfast entre and then shared, so we would get to try multiple items — it was a good decision. He had pancakes, vegan style, with banana’s added. These were good. They’re huge, by the way — the size of your head!
I selected the biscuits and gravy and had vegan sausage added… so savory and flavorful. This did not disappoint. The two halved biscuits and gravy took up an entire plate.
The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable.
Sadly, Wildflower was not open for dinner on the nights we were there (I believe it may be open only Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights) because I’ve had dinner there before and it was awesome. Go for whatever burger special they have.

This is one of the best restaurants in Humboldt County. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was the most flavorful, delicious burrito I’ve had for as long as I can remember. I will definitely be coming back and I recommend it to anyone who loves flavorful, high quality food. I wish I could give this place 10 stars!

I met two friends here for lunch. Only 1 of us had been here before. She had a favorite that she ordered — a rice and steamed veggie bowl with tahini dressing. It looked wonderful. The other friend had a burger with portebello mushrooms, tofu and condiments — it looked huge and delicious. I ordered off the breakfast menu, and had a dish with potatoes on the bottom, steamed veggies and an egg over medium on top, and a wonderful almond gravy. So delicious I wanted more! They both had ice tea, I had decaf coffee which was very tasty. I’ve been thinking about being more vegetarian, and this restaurant made me happy. It’s got vegan options as well (tho I don’t think I could give up dairy)
The service was quite good, and as I looked around, I could see that everyone seemed pleased with their food. I’ll return for sure!

The Tempeh Tacos were really good, with real grilled corn tortillas. The hummus and tapenade plate didn’t last long :) We also enjoyed the fresh poppy seed bread and I liked the naturally unsweetened and aromatically spicy chai, ahh! If you get the Vegan Mac & Cheese try some Sriracha sauce with it, for creamy and spicy goodness :)

The food at wildflower café was great! Came in for lunch slightly before closing and enjoyed the Ultimate Burrito! It came with blue tortilla chips and house salsa. Quite good, though slightly overpriced. Most items are over $ 10. The service was slow and distracted, but friendly and helpful! Overall a good experience!

I have been eating at wildflower for years. Nearly 10… As my go to spot when I want something that is delicious and I will feel great after eating!
The Aphrodite salad is my favorite. Fresh organic greens topped with a heap of carrot, mango, apple avocado, cheese, candied nuts… And a raspberry vinaigrette. Yummmmm…
Coney’s Cornbread is a new favorite… Breakfast treat! Thick cornbread topped with eggs, salsa, black beans. Avocado… And I ask for a side of ranchero sauce… You won’t regret it!
The staff is friendly. And the atmosphere is lovely… Enjoy :)

This place is incredibly delicious but drives me crazy. Five stars for taste. The only problem is that I’ve ordered the exact same vegetarian burger probably about 15 times over the past year, and they’ve only gotten it right ONCE.
For example, I ask for nutloaf, they give me black bean quinoa. I ask for avocado (and they charge me for it), they forget the avocado. I could go on.
Luckily all their food is vegetarian and so tasty, so it isn’t the end of the world, just laughably frustrating. I keep coming back, always wondering what will end up on my plate next…

I went here for breakfast and it was delicious. Being a vegetarian, this place was right up my alley. I highly suggest this place for a yummy meal that is reasonably priced. I’m a big fan of breakfast places that have a variety of things on their menu!
Service was great, people were friendly. Unfortunately, I’m on the east coast where vegetarian restaurants and few and far between, so I took advantage while in Arcata. Try the cornbread!

I’m giving this a full 5 stars because it is some of the best vegan food I have ever had. Awesomely delicious.
It is a bit on the expensive side. Worth every penny in my mind because of the quality of the food. It is organic, creative, healthy, and perfectly seasoned. Best meal of our vacation! This place would stand out even in Berkeley.
It is rare when we find a place that has multiple items we wanted to try. I would have been happy with any of the items on the menu, including the breakfast menu which was still available. I couldn’t make up my mind so asked the waiter for a recommendation. He recommended the tempeh tacos. Delicious! I don’t even like tempeh that much, but I loved these. Tempeh was even made in-​house.
My husband ordered the nut burger. Probably the best vegetarian/​vegan burger we’ve ever tried. Amazing.
Kid friendly too. They brought out coloring sheets and crayons for the kids.
I love Arcata!
