Kokopelli Street Food is an Anchorage based mobile food unit specializing in authentic, fresh, southwestern cuisine. We make all of our food from scratch using family recipes. All of our food is prepared to order for the best quality and flavor. Our staples are the navajo fry bread tacos, Kokopelli tacos, and Frito pies, made with New Mexico red chile. History

Established in 2014.

Kokopelli is a family owned and operated business. Cindy has the business know how, Dez has the recipes, and Dezirae has the kitchen experience. We have always wanted to open a food truck and a restaurant but it was only a dream. When we saw a food unit for sale that we really liked we decided that Anchorage was missing out on the southwestern food experience and we would be the ones to introduce everyone to it. So we bought it, turned a dream into reality, and ventured out. So far, it has been amazing!

After reading Angie’s review for Kokopelli, I anxiously awaited Thursday’s Spenard Food Truck Carnival. To my dismay it was pouring rain, which BTW it never does in Anchorage. I was afraid the Kokopelli people would say screw it and decide to stay snuggled up in bed.
I drove the half block, yes I said half block (I don’t own a umbrella, alright? It’s not supposed to rain that hard here!), to Kokopelli. I was relieved to see that not only was Kokopelli there, but they had also set up a canopy so I wouldn’t melt. The menu is brief so reaching a decision was easy. I ordered the chicken Kokopelli tacos (2 for $ 7) and honey sopapillas (4 for $ 2). Since it was raining I was the only one in line and my food came super fast.
The tacos were wonderful. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist. The salsa was very fresh tasty. The sopapillas were piping hot and lively. They could have had a tiny bit more honey. The reason for the 4 star review is that I’m still hungry… The portion size has left my stomach growling. They might want to consider reportioning to say… 3 tacos for $ 8.50. I would be happier with the value and I wouldn’t still be hungry. Delicious all around though
