Quest Diagnostics

I have been visiting this place for the last few years. I’ve never had any type of problem. I always make sure to make an appointment before coming in because this place gets packed. I only waited for no more than 20 minutes. Everytime I’ve come here, Maria always take care of me. She is very nice and helpful, even my teenager daughter likes her. She is quick in her job and compassionate. My daughter always get dizzy and sometimes faint after blood withdrawal. Maria brought her water and also took her to another room, so she can lay down for a while. Maria checked on her couple of times making sure she was ok. I’ve read other Unilocalers negative reviews about her, and I couldn’t believe it. My experience with her is beyond good.

We had to drop in quickly because we wanted to get cholesterol blood test done for my sister. We waited about 50 minutes (they didn’t even seem to be getting anything done because we came right after lunch and there were no other patients). Just when we were about to leave because it was just taking WAY too long, they finally let us go into one of the rooms. However, when she ran our insurance policy through the system, she told us our insurance didn’t work for this place. We had already confirmed with our pediatrics office that our insurance worked for this particular place, but we went up just to make sure ONCE AGAIN. Again, same response so we went down to just tell them that we thought they made a mistake. The lady who told us our insurance didn’t work before (not very nicely and in a way that radiated «I’m right and you’re wrong» if I may add) had the same attitude and just told us we were wrong and that «my machine is right.» Long story short, we basically had to WASTE an hour of our time, and they didn’t apologize once or seem apologetic at all. Do NOT go here and go to LabCorp instead. These people are very inefficient and unprofessional. I would give 0 stars if possible.

The lady by the name of MARIA needs to change jobs… There is NO way that professional nurses act like that (very rude)…

We visited Quest yesterday without an appointment and there were only about ten people in the room. It took over an hour and a half. I was standing at the front desk for nearly 20 minutes when the lady with glasses returned. She told me that it would be about 1 ½ hours. Fine, the tests had to be done. For almost 30 minutes there was a child crying in the back, apparently getting blood drawn. They said that there would be a delay because of a hard stick. (Not what I wanted to hear). Some other people in line were told that there would be a 2 ½ hour wait.
They finally called me back and they only had one phlebotomist working. She did not wash her hands and use hand sanitizer while I was in the room. She located a vein and wipes it with alcohol, the felt again with her bare hand. Without gloves, she placed the blood vial in the holder breaking the vacuum before placing the needle in my arm upside down. She removed the needle and placed a gauze square on the site and put the needle in the sharps container.
I went out to lunch later that day. I went out to lunch later that day and when I went to the restroom, I noticed that the gauze was full of blood.
I although Quest is normally a very good establishment, this location is the exception.

I have been going here since my baby was a new born. I never had problems with the Phlebotomists at this location except for one particular person. I didn’t catch her name but she is Hispanic with medium blonde hair that wears glasses. Here are the reasons why:
1) she wasn’t in a good mood to start with and looked miserable working there.
2)she stabbed my daughter and started to move the needle inside both her arms to locate her vein. I told her to stop and wait for the vein to pop up and she gave me an attitude and said, «morning appointments for children are not good to draw blood. You need to come back in the afternoon when she wide awake.» That made no sense to me. I always made morning appointments for her and other Phlebotomists were able to draw blood easily even when she was screaming. Now she has huge bruises on both arms.
3)The supervisor here should send workers back home if they’re not in a good mood. Workers shouldn’t be taking it out on patients.
If you come to this location make sure not to have her draw your kids blood. She’s terrible.

I’ve been here three times, and all have been really good experiences. Do not be like the rest of the reviewers and show up without an appointment, don’t even think about getting there when the doors open and hope you’ll be seen first. You won’t, it will completely ruin your day, you will be waiting for hours, and your only recourse will be to squawk about it on Unilocal afterwards. Just go online and make your appointment a couple days in advance, it’s not rocket science.
That said, the nurses were great to talk to while being worked over and on average it only takes 10 minutes to be seen. They always send me off with pink tape on my arm, and for some reason the building looks like it was constructed by the borg.

I just took my 4 year old here to get blood work done this past week. The older lady in front of us was upset because she called to make an appointment the week prior and they said they didn’t receive it so she could wait and it could take an hour. They were not sympathetic to her at all and were very condescending.
my son was so nervous to get his blood work done and was shaking and the lab tech said «if you don’t let us take your blood we have to take you to the hospital strap you down and take it and your mommy can’t be there» wtf? Who says that to a 4 year old let alone any child!
I will NEVER bring my child or any family member back here again.

Alright, I have this, über, super, very high expectation of Quest, just because they’re Quest, aha, right. I am very disappointed with this drawing station. Well, this location seems crazy busy all the time, which is good, despite the economic flaws, and pending insurance reimbursement arguments. Doctors near this location keep sending their patients to this location, obviously it’s only couple of walks away, located in the center of the offices in the Martin Luther King Medical Center Drive.
The only downside is that this place is über busy that most patients end up waiting for an unexpected long time. They have very limited number of employees working in this location considering the volume of their patients. While it is true that it’s better to make an appointment, we really can’t depend on that appointment as there are unexpected things that might happen that would delay our appointment. And it happens here all the time.
There are days that when it’s really busy the waiting room is so full that some patients need to stand and wait to be seated, and some patients wait in the hallway, outside the room. This scenario is very unacceptable, and very inappropriate,
Unfortunately, I can’t think or suggest of any resolution to the problems mentioned above. If quest do not want to increase their people in this location, and doctors keep sending their patients to only one laboratory for blood draws, problems mentioned above will be as is, and as is forever and ever, (amen).

They lock the doors to avoid customers! You do not want to go here. Very, very, very, bad employees who hate their jobs are authorized to poke you with needles. I drove my Dad here and arrived at 2:50pm. When we arrived we saw an elderly couple having trouble with the facility door. The man said the doors were locked but he can hear people inside. Odd since The sign says they are open until 4pm. Moments later, A hospital employee arrived to drop off samples. She confirms they should be open. She knocks and again no answer. Finally at 3:01pm the door opens and a lab employee says they closed at 3pm due to holiday hours (today is dec 17 which is 7days away from Christmas mind you) and will not take any more Customers. The older gentleman says he was there well before 3pm and should be seen but the door was locked. The lab assistant confirmed it was locked because she did not any more customers arriving since they had three patients to see. In other words, she put the «this register is closed sign up» before her shift was over. He was upset as he should be. I told her this was ridiculous and these folks should be seen as they had arrived well before three AND no where were holiday hours posted. The sign says they close at 4pm.
She had the ugliest attitude and was completely unapologetic. «Look, this is not how you run a business. These people are sick and are not able to just jump in their cars to go to another facility in the rain.» As i was explaining the value of service and customers to this women something hit me. This woman hates her job and my words sound like A Charlie Brown episode to her. She doesn’t care that we were upset. She just wanted us to go away so she can go home. Now, Do I want her drawing my Dads blood after all this? Negative. I glared at her, took a deep breath and told my Dad that’ve were leaving. I instantly thought a letter to her boss will resolve nothing but a nice fat Unilocal review will make me feel better!
One of the best things about being insured by Kaiser is that I don’t have to deal with Quest Diagnostics and their monopoly.
