Disney’s ElecTRONica

This was so much fun. We had a blast every time we went and tore up the dance floor.

Sad that this place had to go. It was like a little disney version of a rave. Mad T Party is decent too, but doesn’t compare to how elecTRONica was

This was a fun out door entertainment area filled with themed characters and decorations from the Tron movies. At any time during the day, you could find dancers, performers, and DJ’s all doing their thing. There’s even a replica of Flynn’s arcade from the movie with lots and lots of old school console games and pinball machines. The only flaw is that it wasn’t a permanent addition to the theme park.

Goodbye ElecTRONica! Last night was the final night of what has been an 18-​month rule of weekend nights in the Hollywood Backlot at DCA. ElecTRONica transformed this open area into «The Grid» — not really sure what that meant — with a live DJ spinning some pretty fun music. Adults and kids of all ages could come dance, attempt to dance, and people-​watch.
In addition to the DJ (who was always surprisingly good), live G-​rated go go dancers were propped up on pedestals and supplied with an endless stream of energy, while an MC occasionally disrupted the music while trying to get the crowd into it.
Last night was also the first (and only) night I got to see the Laserman show, which also ends with ElecTRONica. It was pretty cool!
The most surprising element was how legitimately good some of the people dancing here were. There were several discussions among our friends about which adolescents displaying gravity– and physics-​defying moves were possibly hired by the park as plants. It would totally be a Disney thing to do that. Whatever; they were still way cooler than me and made me wish I had gotten into dance when I was younger.
Goodbye ElecTRONica, we’ll miss you. Here’s hoping the Mad T Party replacement beginning in June is at least as good as you were!

A crazy Rave party and for you adults out there are some crazy drinks to fill your night.
I enjoyed Finn’s Arcade, those old school games brought me back to my child hood.
Don’t watch the 3D movie, its just a preview of the movie, I am sure you seen the movie already.

I LOVE ElecTRONica! Other than the Aladdin show, and «wine country» section, this is my favorite event at DCA. The futuristic dance party club atmosphere goes non-​stop from 5pm to 9pm. At least go for a ½ hour or more.
It definately helps if you’ve seen TRON (old and new) to really appreciate it, but it’s cool regardless. You can hear the beat of the electronica type music guiding you toward the Hollywood backlot and beams of light. Characters in the Tron outfits throw lit discs over your head and to you as you walk in. The whole section is transformed from the regular daytime area.
There are stages set up, lasers shooting, platform dancers, glowing drinks a plenty. The «End of the Line» bar serves both alcoholic and non-​alcoholic drinks. I like the GLOJITO. They are pricy though… about $ 11 – 12 a piece. But you get a changing 5 color glowing martini cup or ice cube that you can take with you.
It’s really fun to watch people of all ages having a blast — kids, teens, and adults all dancing up a storm, encouraged by the main guy’s yells of «Hello Tron City! Everyone DANCE!» There is a laser show on stage and an area where people can dance with glowing lit hula hoops.
And then… for those gen Xers… Flynn’s Arcade. There you will be blasted to the early 80s with old school arcade games… Centipede, TRON (of course), Dig Dug, Pac Man, Space Invaders, and more. It’s only open during ElecTRONica, so check it out.

During the day, the Hollywood Pictures Backlot looks terrible with all the ElecTRONica props all over the place. But once it’s dark, this place come alive.
I don’t drink, so I can’t comment on the alcohol and prices.
But the atmosphere is really good. One almost feels like a part of the Tron world. The main street of the area displays light cycles races and other graphics of Tron. Further down the street is where the alcohol can be purchased.
In the very far left had corner of the «land» is Flynn’s Arcade where you can play many of the 80’s classics. There is also a live DJ and music playing in front of the Monsters Inc attraction. Also in that area at certain times, Lazerman puts on a show. I thought Lazerman was alright for the first 2 minutes.
Some people may argue that Disney isn’t a place to hold these types of party atmosphere with alcohol. I would say to try and give it a chance. I know that when I went, I was blown away by how well it was done.
For the young ones, there are $ 0.25 arcade games to play and there are Tron people with light discs (think of Frisbee) that kids can play with. So there is pretty almost something for everyone.
Of course, ElecTRONica doesn’t take up the entire Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The Hyperion Theater and the Tower of Terror area are not affected and is a very quiet corner of the the area at night.

Pretty good music playing, rave like feeling, but you’re around parent’s and their small kids… awkwardddddd so I guess the solution is to drink more! haha

Nerdy, family-​friendly, glow-​in-​the-​dark rave! And alcohol!
Ok. Dude, the drinks are strong. At least they always get me pretty tipsy. And woohooo they glow. I’m starting to have a growing collection of glowing martini glasses and ice cubes!
Flynn’s Arcade is awesome for old school gamers. And people definitely have fun dancing the night away outside. The mixed age group of the crowd is only slightly awkward.
The highlight of the whole thing is LASER MAN!!! Seriously. So. Freaking. Cool. It’s like magic and so much fun to watch! Seriously, how does he do it? (But… don’t tell me and ruin the fun.)
Party on till 10. Then sober up at Disneyland for a couple hours.

It looks so different at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot at night when ElecTRONica is happening. You feel like you are brought into another world. Before you get there, you already see the glowing blue all around and it looks futuristic. Then you see the «scanner» that detects if you are a «program.» I always make sure to duck out of the way! ;)
They have lit up drinks, snacks, laser shows (awesome!), gogo dancers, and bumpin music!
Also, they have the 3D sneak peak of the movie Tron: Legacy, which came out in December 2010. It’s still cool to watch the trailer if you haven’t seen the movie. I saw the trailer before watching the movie & was psyched for it!
Flynn’s Arcade is so cool too! Blast from the past arcade!
Can’t go wrong with that!

ElecTRONica is a fun, fun time. I feel like it would be a little loud for children though, but it’s all ages. The Glow-​jito was pretty strong, and a little pricey ($ 11).
Bring a bunch of friends to Ca Adventure, have a drink (or two) and dance too «oonz oonz oonz oonz Barbara Streisand.» You’ll have a good time.

Shame on you Disney for having a mini rave in your park! You are teaching these young ones too early how great electronic dance music is. Hey I’m not complaining because I love the DJs and the gogo dancers, but it’s just so weird to me to see these young teens doing the raver shuffle.
I love ElecTRONica because it totally transforms the Hollywood Backlot into a new world. From the futuristic bars, glocups, and high energy gogo dancers, what’s not to like? People of all ages are here just dancing to the beat and perhaps, busting out their Jersey Shore fist pump!
I love it, but again, it makes me feel weird that there’s a mini rave here.

WARNING: Stay away from the glojito!!! I say this because as appealing as it is with the glowing light and whatnot, it made me sick to my stomach. No, not the vomiting kind of sick, but this uncomfortable sick that I could do nothing about other than lay in fetal position. Of course, this occurred after the buzz wore off.
ElecTRONica, in summary, is a weak rave, but hello… it’s in the middle of California Adventure?! HECK YES. This is the only spot at the Disneyland Resort where you can have a nice buzz and dance through the night. I love that kids of all ages go out to the dance floor and bust a move. It really shows how different dancing is through the decades!
There are other things to do too, like arcades, videos and cast members that walk around with frisbees and other fun toys to play with.
Overall, it is a great atmosphere, and TONS of fun for the WHOLE family. I’d go again… but this time, I’ll pass on the glojito. *shudder*

I haven’t been at California Adventure since last summer… so this was a complete shock to me! it was a RAVE for kids! white furniture that glowed under the blacklights, projections on all walls/​buildings, cage dancers, elecTRONica music, glo products for sale everywhere, glo beverages… retro arcade. you name it… it felt like a real nightclub, but rated G. we were on our way out so we only stayed for like 20 minutes… but i am so taking my kids back to party here!

I had so much fun at ElecTRONica!!! It all starts at the sunshine plaza at 6 pm where there is a countdown and some dancers… and then they open the «portal» and the tron people march down the street to the back lot where there is a DJ bumping some loud bass-​y tunes and go-​go dancers tearing it up.
There are also some little drink stands and in the back lot there is the «End of line club» where you can buy the same drinks. There are digitini’s, glowjitos and beers. Some of the drinks come with glowing cubes or the entire martini glass lights up. We paired our glowing drinks with some blinking light up Mickey ears and we were ready! The glowjito was very sweet and used a fake mint syrup. Pretty tasty IMO, but I hate real mojitos. The digitini was soooo gross, but the glowing cup was worth it.
Sadly, we had to leave to go see World of Color before seeing the Poreotics perform, but I’d seen it online already a few times.
The dancers were great, the music was awesome, Flynn’s arcade was a blast from the past and total replica from the movie, and the whole thing was just fun and not what I expected from Disney at all.
Definitely check out ElecTRONica, though! It is a once in a lifetime event.

A great attraction for both young and old– of course unless the music is too loud.
Everything is is lit with neon lights, black lights and even provide a DJ for those to dance to on the dance floor. There is «Flynn’s» Arcade which contains the 1980’s style arcade, a bar containing alcoholic and non– alcoholic drinks in brightly lit cups and even a preview of Tron in amazing 4D. The performers dancing around really do a great job at playing their part, it was like they walked out of the movie!
It’s literally like an age appropriate rave, but who doesn’t love flashy lights, and good music?
Stick around for the Laser Man show, it’s pretty neat!

With themed go-​go dancers, ‘End of the Line’ bar (themed drinks in light up cups or with a light up ice cube, $ 10ish each), DJ, FLYNN’s arcade with old school video games (25 cents a play), and an all-​ages environment filled with dancing, lights, colors, graphics and sounds… There is nothing cheesy about this G-​rated Disney party!
VERY IMPRESSIVE lighting and sound design. Disney put a ton of money into this production, and it shows.

I went to check out Disneyland’s Halloween time. Meh, kinda lame. Didn’t see any villainous characters roaming around and the decorations were lacking. Disneyland is really dark at night. It’s so dark, if you got trampled by a horde of strollers, your body probably wouldn’t be found till sunrise. The lighting design of the park is horrible.
The only thing that was kinda cool was the new Electronica at DCA. It was created to promote the new 3-​D Tron Movie that is coming out soon. That actually was pretty well done. Good sound system and cool lighting effects, complete with choreographed dancers. It was almost a rave. If they had been selling red bulls and vodka, I would have busted out with some robot moves.

Disney has done a good job of hyping me up for a movie I could care less about.
I didn’t realize elecTRONica was such a detailed and big production. I thought it was just a couple of new decorations. nope, it’s Disney we’re talking about here.
The clip of Tron we got to see was really cool, in 4 D! Even just to see that small clip in 4D is unique enough to go wait in line. The Flynn arcade is chopped full of fun 80s Atari games. Great for old timers and newbies alike! I discovered Gauntlet here, LOL.
After an hour or so in Flynn’s I walked out to discover like a rave of some sort by the Monsters Inc. ride, I was SO surprised! Dancers dressed in Tron outfits dancing on their own platforms. A live DJ playing what sounded like bumping house music. There were flashing lights, alcohol, even dancers up on stage and dancers showing everyone how to line dance to the music.
You’d think itd be cheesy but it was actually a lot of fun and totally unexpected of Disney. normally that type of crowd isn’t usually considered kid friendly, but Disney made it work where everyone was dancing up a storm, kids and adults a like, leave it to Disney!
If there could be one aspect of improvement, I’d love to see this event go on past park hours or at least turn into 21+, does feel a lil weird dancing and bumping into kids

Just checked out the new elecTRONica over the weekend at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot at California Adventure and I have to say it was pretty cool. It starts with a pre-​show before dark in the park plaza on a small dancing stage to give you a preview of what’s to come next door after the sun goes down. When it does get dark, the Backlot is turned into a big set from the movie TRON.
They have Flynn’s arcade with a bunch of classic 80’s arcade games to play (DigDug, Defender… yeah!!) They have an extended sneak peak in 3D at the Muppet Theatre of the movie TRON that you can preview. Then there’s the club feel to it back by the Monster Inc. ride where they have DJ’s spinning some techno music (Disney style of course). They also have some futuristic looking bars serving a couple mixed drinks and beer in glowing cups (will set you back $ 12 bucks). Lastly, there’s the laser light stage show which is probably the best part of the whole experience.
Got to definitely give it a try if you’re at the park.
