Harbor Point Air Conditioners

We had 3 a/​c units installed by Harbor Point. One unit at our office and the other 2 in our home. All 3 units work great. One unit began to make noise and Anita sent a repairman over the ofllowing day and he repaired it. We have had our units now for 5 years and they are still working great. Nice people to deal with. We recommend them very highly.

After reading several very negative reviews I had to step up and give my experience with Jeff and Harbor Point. I purchased and installed 8 or nine of his Air conditioners for a former employer over an 8 year span and the only problem I had was the failure of one evaporator output fan motor. Jeff sent me a replacement evaporator complete at no cost. The units I purchased were delivered with in days of placing my orders and several units had dual separate evaporator units, which are rather demanding to install. I am quite happy with the products and they replaced several very poor quality units I purchased from another dealer in the San Fernando Valley… Jeff has always given a great price too. I would suggest if you do not know how to install it your self do some research and hire a good installer that stands behind his work. If the installer screws up the install even the best quality unit will fail.

I purchase 2 wall two part units and 2 wheeled units from Anita. The wall units I purchased and use them both since 2006. Today they are still working as the day I purchased. I had the inside units cleaned twice in 8 years and changed the remote batteries a few times.
The wheeled units I purchased in the last 8 months. One of them was leaking water but they fixed it in a few minutes, I guess was a valve or something.
I sincerely recommend the business.

Paid over $ 1,600 for 12,000 btu Harbor Point Heat & A/​C unit. Used just a few times, then does not work. Company won’t fix without paying hundreds of dollars even if still in warranty. Looks for any reason to not be willing to fix. Use just a couple of times after fix, broken again, same problem. Made in China unit is probably design defective and would be recalled if was made by any American company. No other A/​C company will look at unit because no way to get parts or repair instructions. Very low quality for such an expensive unit. Don’t buy anything from this company!

This post is in response to the owners reply. Clearily he is far-​sided and or suffers for dyslexia and a mild case of amnesia. The review did not warrant the response therefore clearification will be required. This will also requires the listing of my email handle which is evolforce. Which stands for evolutionary force. This coined term was from a few marine Biologist buddies that sparked the idea for my email handle. This would encompasses every being of life «a journey into where we’re from and where we’re going». Nothing sinister and or evil with this handle, unless you continue to misread and or cannot comprehend the text presented on your screen. The defensive response also prompted an adjustment in the review rating. Since i am unable to choose zero stars, The next apporpriate rating is 1 star. Which i can not stress is more then what is deserved.
To all the loyal readers and reviewers out there. Anytime you see questionable characteristics and or erratic behavior which begs the queation: is there underlying issues here and do you really want to interact with a person of this nature? Maybe he was having a bad day, everyone is entitled one every once in a while nonetheless the owner response is misleading and hopefully you the reader can see his ill fated mistakes. «see the whole picture» now?
I have moved on and installed a GREE system which appears to perform at if not better the the harbor point system at a slight cost savings. This is just an inital report since i have no actual side by side data/​experiance/​usage cost to quantify this claim. In reality i am just happy to have air conditioning in a previously unconditiond garage/​workshop.

Horrible customer service. I called in for a repair on my Harbor point air conditioner. The woman on the phone answered rudely. Seemed like this was a dreadful job and she hates her life.
She told me her technician would call me back in an hour to set up an appointment. 3 hours go by… never hear from him so I called her back. Same rude attitude… except this time she hangs up the phone on me. Never buy crap from this place. Spend your money elsewhere and get better service. Their air conditioners obviously don’t work properly and their service sucks even worse then the units. 2^nd crappy review for this business out of 3. Must be a trail of horrible service and crappy products. AWFUL! Get that woman off the phone lines. She’ll scare away any potential customer you may have or loose the ones you did get. I will leave the same review on the other Unilocal account you opened up just to cover the trail of bad reviews on this one!

Bought a Harbor Point AC system today on the recommendation of a friend who has two of these systems in his recording studio. I was a bit dismayed to read such a negative review on Unilocal from another customer, so I thought I’d add my two cents.
First off, I spoke with Jeff the owner and he was knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended a unit for me and even made me a good deal. He even met me on a Saturday for delivery of the unit and threw in a few extras I might need.
The one downside was his usual contractor who does the installations wasn’t available due to Chinese New Year, so I had to scramble a bit to find an installer, but I was able to find someone locally in Culver City to install for a few hundred dollars.
Overall I’d say I feel that the Harbor Point unit I received is a good value. It’s attractive and cost a lot less than the big name brands. Of course I’m a very unbiased reviewer and it’s only day 1, so I’ll happily give an update towards the units performance later once it’s up and running for awhile.

I had a heat pump in my new home that the previous owner had installed within the previous 2 years from this company.
It already went out so I called this Jeff character who is the owner to see about getting them to fix it. He has no one he can recommend to fix it and he won’t come out himself, which I thought extremely odd since most companies have service people in the field whether employees or contractors. Most of the A/​C people around town don’t even work on heatpumps that aren’t their own brand.
He tells me (a bald-​faced lie) that his company is in Florida. (I discovered shortly after that Jeff’s company is approximately an hour and half away from my house… not a huge distance for service in California.)
I also discovered later while paying to replace his 2 – 3 year old unit that should have lasted 10+ years that the reason he doesn’t have anyone he can recommend or pay to come out is because he has burned his bridges with every a/​c contractor in town over his shady business practices… none of them will work with him because he supplies faulty parts, won’t pay his bills for service, refuses to honor his warranties, and tries to make them responsible for his issues.
At any rate, he wants ME to fix it while he explains to me how to do it over the phone. WTF!!! After telling him several times that I really didn’t feel comfortable trying to open it up and fix it myself, he basically says unless I want to buy a new one (he starts trying to sell me a new one at this point), that is my only option because he won’t come fix it and he won’t pay someone else to do it (even though it was supposedly under warranty).
So, he sends me some parts and I try to fix it and it keeps blowing up the same part. After many attempts (and me shorting the thing out, because like I said, I didn’t feel like I was capable of repairing it… and WHY SHOULD I ???) he tries to trick me into sending him the parts back without sending the replacement.
He tells me that he is sending a replacement part and he wants me to send the old parts back. So, logically, I waited to get the new part so I could use the same box for shipping since I had thrown the box away from the 1^st shipment. Well, needless to say, I did not get the replacement part. I called Jeff to see where it was, he said it was on its way. I called several times to let him know I had not received the part yet over the next 2 – 3 weeks and he told me REPEATEDLY that it had been shipped and should have been here. So, finally, I call and tell him that he needs to send me a different one because the part obviously isn’t going to make it and that is when he tells me that he never shipped the part… he was waiting that whole time for me to send him the used parts back first. WTF??? It’s been weeks that I have been without an air conditioner during a really hot summer. (This was last year)
When I asked him why he lied to me so many times over the last several weeks he just kept saying that I needed to send the old parts back before he would send me any more replacement parts.
This demonstrated to me and I think it is very clear to anyone that he was planning on screwing me out of the parts and never had any intention of sending the replacement.
Jeff’s retaliation for this negative review is to make up all kinds of lies about me and to call me the liar, although what motivation I would have for lying is beyond me.
Why would I be the one to end contact and refuse to send the parts back to him? I would have nothing to gain and everything to lose from that. Terminating contact with this criminal caused me to have to spend over $ 1000 to buy a new a/​c unit. Sending the broken one back to get another part was a lot cheaper (free).
This business owner will say ANYTHING to make it seem that I am an unreasonable person when his lies are completely ridiculous. At one time, his response said I threatened him from my email address, that my Unilocal profile falsely said I lived in La Jolla (which I did when I signed up for Unilocal), and now his entire response is completely made up. Not one single part of it ever happened. He is just trying to divert your attention from his criminal activities. Jeff is just crying because he can’t get my very accurate review of his shitty company removed from Unilocal.
Unsuspecting, innocent people expect him to honor his warranty and stand behind his product, and he just won’t. Even after all of this, I recently tried to negotiate with him to honor his warranty and he refused again.
Trust me. This person is a criminal and should not even have his freedom (should be in prison) let alone be in business selling to the general public who is trusting of vendors. Do yourself a favor and just buy from someone else who is trustworthy, honest, and wants to solve your issue. If you want to become his repairman (IE– his bitch) then go ahead and buy a Harbor Point.
