I love Dr. Wu. He’s even keel and reserved and knowledgeable. He doesn’t mind if you ask him questions, and I ask a lot. The office has just been updated, which to me is neither here nor there. It’s always clean. I do like that you can do most procedures right in the office(vaccines/ekgs/bloodwork).

The office is dated, and even the intake forms look like they’ve been photocopied 100 times by a very old copier. Tech-savvy, they are not! The rooms themselves don’t appear to be terribly clean, including the lab area. You’re told up front that the first visit does not include any examination but merely time for evaluation with the doctor, so I expected that to be in an interview-type setting, not sitting practically side-by-side in a cramped corner of an exam room while he’s busy typing instead of listening. I was referred for a further test due to a chronic pain issue and when the result from that test was normal there was no discussion or suggestion as to what to do next to eliminate other causes of the pain or find an actual diagnosis. Literally — it was like«result was normal so you’re fine.» Bedside manner was maybe one out of five stars. Dr. Mitchell had much better reviews and although I initially tried to get an appointment with him the staff told me he doesn’t accept my insurance, only Dr. Wu did, even though they’re in the same practice. Odd. I won’t be going back.

Zero stars based on this interaction that my husband just had with him today at 4PM(he is a long established patient of Dr. Whittaker’s but does not Unilocal): After their scheduler messed up his appointment three times this week with Dr. Whittaker(which he had scheduled to get his yearly refills), he was literally out of regular meds and needed said refills plus had been sick enough for two weeks that they nearly had to Medevac him off an island in Alaska. He got to see Dr. Wu this afternoon. My husband gives him the story for his need for refills, how he has been extremely ill gastrointestinally and nasally so much so that the Navy was going to make him leave to get care and Dr. Wu basically took two minutes writing out his regular meds(but only for one month, not for a year since he didn’t want to step on Dr. Whittaker’s territory) and then handwriting the one med for one month that he takes which is a controlled substance(which is also one my husband takes daily year round). Dr. Wu then leaves. As Dr. Wu is walking out the door, my husband goes«Wait– is that all I am going to get? I tell you all of these symptoms and the severity of them and you dismiss me?» and he said Dr. Wu’s response was«Well it’s not like you’re tipping me or anything.» So at that, he lost his mind(rightfully so) and said«You know what — Eff You! I deserve better treatment than this and when Dr. Whittaker gets back from vacation I am filing a complaint with him and the office manager. How dare you talk to me like that or dismiss my symptoms.» Dr. Wu then reluctantly wrote a prescription for antibiotics and said«Will this work for you?» rather sarcastically so my husband then said just as sarcastically«You’re the freaking doc. You tell me.» Please check my review for their practice under Drs. Mitchell, Whittaker, and Wu for issues that I have had with their practice and why they refused to take me. It is a common theme with them. You will also see more negative reviews of the practice as a whole.

I picked this Dr. as a primary care provider, as I had hardly any choices. He was very rushed and did not listen to what I had to say and was your typical pcp provider. Not very personable or knowledgable.
