Michael Mitchell, MD

I had scheduled an appointment, got there at the instructed 15 minutes beforehand, filled out my paperwork and… waited! I tend to choose 1^st appts of the day or close to first — for this very reason but I was the second patient. I had to wait nearly an hour! All the while, the front was filling up fast and people were waiting and waiting. The front staff — RUDE! I finally get back to see Dr. Wu — and the first thing he says to me is «I see you have been prescribed pain medication in the recent past. I am NOT giving you any narcotics». ??? I was there because I had two masses on my neck. I said «well that’s good because I don’t want anything from YOU». He seemed to back off. He looked at my neck and said it probably wasn’t anything but will draw some blood. I gave them my blood and my $ 20 co-​pay and immediately made an appointment with another doctor. Guess what? I had metastatic thyroid cancer — and it took nearly 9 hours to get ALL the cancer out from my neck/​arm and underarms! Thanks Dr. Wu — good thing you didn’t give me those pain meds!

After being «let go» by 2 doctors that went concierge, I did some research and chose Dr. Mitchell. Like all good doctors, he is busy but I was able to get a decent «meet & greet» appointment followed by a physical a few months later. The «meet & greet» is so they can collect all your info and have the doctor talk to you briefly. It is required as a first a appointment and helps them cover costs. They will never do a physical as a first appointment, which is fair. As luck would have it, I had a lingering sinus infection when I came in and he did prescribe some antibiotics that did the job. During the physical he spent a good amount of time with me and was open to discussing my concerns with statins based on research I had been doing on the internet. He was gracious with his time and did not take a «hard line» on statins being awesome for everyone. I am perfectly happy with Dr. Mitchell and would recommend him to others. The staff is courteous and efficient. I believe I heard or read that if you are a patient and are sick you can do a walk in, which is somewhat rare.
(Maybe I should only give him 5 stars if he cures some bad disease of mine, but hopefully he won’t get that opportunity so I will give him the benefit of the doubt)
My wife went in June 2015 and was pleased: no wait to get the a room and then no wait for the doctor to show up.
For blood tests, they can do some themselves and the can send to LabCorp and Sunrise (?). Make sure you check with your insurance, even though they might be covered, the Dr. office will likely charge you more than if send to LabCorp.

I didn’t see Dr Mitchell when I went but one of his partners. The doctor I saw was the biggest jackass I’ve ever met in my life. Did not ask me any of my health history, told me he was really unhappy with my weight and suggested diet pills. He didn’t care when I told him that I work out 6x a week and eat a mostly clean diet, he also told me supplements were a joke. I would NEVER recommend this practice.

Dr Mitchell’s complete and thorough examination saved my life 14 years ago! I have a lot of respect for him. He is real and caring and not affected like so many physicians I have encountered through the years. He is also connected to an incredible specialty network of like minded caring physicians. Consequently he now sees many of my friends, family and co-​workers.

Dr Mitchell is a terrific doctor, takes the time to listen and seems very knowledgable. That’s why he got five stars.
Since he shares the office with two other doctors, I won’t hold his receptionist area against him. I saw that as the negative part in a review and I have to agree. I was a little surprised with the tone of voice the lady had with someone on the phone… The two ladies seemed to be unaccommodating and were gossiping behind the counter. They were nice to me, but it is off putting to see the employees be so impatient with other people.
Takeaway: the doctor is great, his auxiliary staff could work on their professionalism.

I moved here from Southern California and it took a long time and so many disappointing consultations to find Dr. Michael Mitchell.
He is such a caring doctor, takes his time with patients, is always on time and truly listens to you. My past experiences in the area were not positive and I had all but given up. So now that I’ve found him I’m very happy and thankful.
His front office is efficient and most of the time, friendly. Dr. Mitchell’s office hours are flexible and can fit anyone’s schedule.
I think the only down side is the parking situation. So it is important you give yourself the extra ten to fifteen minutes to find parking before your appointment.

Having just moved to the area I need a new Primary Care Physician. Seeing his great reviews on Unilocal,I called Dr. Mitchell’s office this morning and tried to schedule my annual physical. I was told by the gal answering the phone (I made sure I wasn’t speaking to his answering service) that he doesn’t do annual physicals unless I’ve come in and seen him before. She said, «well he can see you and talk to you about your past medical history and stuff but he can only do a blood test, he can’t do all the other tests that are included in an annual exam.» I feel fine, I don’t need to talk to him «about stuff» but I would like my annual exam to make sure that I am as healthy as I feel. Why would I have to schedule a visit to «talk to him», be charged for that visit, which is billed entirely differently to the insurance company, and then schedule my annual exam? Seems odd to me… especially for a doctor who is accepting new patients. I have since made an appointment with another physician, who is also very highly rated on Unilocal,who was delighted to make an appointment for my annual exam.

Never thought to review him until I noticed other reviews on the front page feed… but I have to echo the other reviews, Dr. Mitchell is the best. They can do cultures in the office saving you lots of time and they can always get you in same day if you’re really sick. He’s an excellent PCP and I highly recommend him.

I needed a new PCP after moving and after searching Unilocal and various other doctor rating sites decided to give Dr. Mitchell a try. I’m glad I did. Even though I couldnt get an appointment for a week after I called and the issue I called about had largely cleared up I went anyway. The front desk staff were nice and Dr. Mitchell was thorough in his exam. Fortunately (?) the day of my appointment I had another medical issue flare up and he was able to diagnose it and tell me about it. He’s a good one.

Dr. Mitchell is one of the best primary care physicians ! He always have time, I have called him couple time with some concern and they were able to take me this same day! Always very attentive great with follow up, very kind.
I feel comfortable to talked with him and that doesnt happend very often with doctors in this area.

Dr. Mitchell is the best primary care physician I’ve found. I felt like he really listened to my concerns. I didn’t feel rushed at all… he definitely cares about his patients.

Dr. Mitchell is one of the best primary care physicians around. Every time I visit him, he impresses me with how well he listens to your concerns. Like others have said, they keep a number of appointment slots open for emergencies; beyond that, it’s easy to get seen for non-​emergency appointments as well.
I almost don’t want to recommend him and keep the good doctor all to myself, but he deserves all the business he can get.

Dr. Mitchell is, by far, the best primary care doctor I’ve ever had. He’s got great bedside manner, speaks to my level without speaking down, and is great with follow up.

Have been very happily going to Dr. Mitchell for years now and only have the best of things to say about him and the entire practice. He’s very attentive to concerns and when needed has always referred me to very good specialists.
One of the best things is they keep a good number of appointment slots open so that they can handle emergency walk-​ins as needed. I’ve never not been able to get an appointment on the same day when I’ve been very sick and needed one and one time I just «showed up» (that’s how sick I was) and the receptionist apologized TO ME for making me wait 10 – 15 minutes to see him. Amazing.
