some of my favorite food in the world is french, and i went here expecting french food. i was sorely disappointed. maybe it’s not supposed to be french, i don’t know. however, nothing except their escargot was french. or at least not any french i’ve had. it seemed very americanized and food that you would find at any normal restaurant. nothing was special about the flavor and i felt like a lot of what i had could have come from my kitchen. i also wasn’t enthusiastic about our waitress who seemed less than thrilled to be serving us. for the price in ABQ, you can get a lot better.

We went once and had an amazing meal about 3 years ago and somehow forgot about this place until my birthday a couple of weeks ago. The location is a little odd, being snuggled in between movie theater restaurants, but the food is so very worth it. This is pretty accessible, basic French at it’s best. I started out with fried oysters with some sort delicious aioli type sauce, amazing! They were delicately battered and cooked just enough. My husband had the french onion soup which he said was also delicious. He ordered the flank steak with classic bordelaise and I ordered mussels. Both were incredible. The steak was melt in your mouth perfection, cooked perfectly and the mussels were divine in their white wine, shallot and garlic broth with a hint of cream. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert. My only critique (and it is a tiny one) is that it was served in a very shallow rameken so the burnt sugar to custard ratio was a little heavy on the sugar side for me. The wine list is really really good as well. They offer a great selection of predominately french wines and I was delighted with the by the glass options as I’m a huge fan of french whites (and reds) and they offered about six different whites alone by the glass. I had a couple of glasses of the Languedoc which was perfect with the oysters and the mussels. We spoke with the owner after and he told us that next year they are moving back to their original location downtown. I believe that was on Gold St and housed P’tit Louis and a relocated Café Miche at one time as well. We will definitely be back and we won’t wait 3 years this time!

Absolutly wonderful! The chef came out and explained the specials. My wife had scallops in a puff pastry with mushrooms and sauce that was incredible. I has the rack of lamb. Again, it was all very tasty. Service was friendly and helpful. The lighting was a little dim, so my tired eyes had a little difficultly reading the menu. Very nice experience.

Basically I am obsessed with French food and brunch, and this place hits the ticket every time! I’ve never been for dinner, but I’ve only heard great things from friends, so check it out! Make sure you want to spend some money here though.

This is my second visit and the food is awesome as well as the presentation! The service is really good and fast too. I love everything I have eaten for lunch, fantastic salads, quiches, seafood and the Banana Flambee Crêpe is amazing for desert. Great cozy place for lunch or dinner! Definitely a must try!

Stopped in for lunch… I love crepes. Had chicken crêpe and suzette for dessert. Shared my chicken crêpe with my husband to ensure I had room for dessert! Every last bite was delicious!!! From the toasted French baguette with butter, too the veggies that accompanied my chicken crêpe… absolute 5 star food! Our waitress was kind and attentive. Great experience all around!

What a horrible experience, me and my family have been wanting to try this place out for months. There were flies and gnats all over our food, we didn’t even get a choice of beverage the waitresses just brought us water. The food was the worst part my husband’s chicken was just sitting in a pool of grease. My chicken was overcooked and rubbery, and the sauce that I was excited about was brunt you could taste it. I do not recommend wasting your time and money. My family was very disappointed, and we won’t be back.

The food was absolutely delicious here! I love French food and this place does it to perfection. I had the crêpe with scallops, shrimp, and mushrooms but the real star of the dish was the cream sauce. We also had a delicious appetizer with smoked trout which I fully enjoyed. My only regret is that I didn’t have room for dessert. The only thing I will be negative about was the service. When we came in the waitress told us to just sit wherever, which is ok with me. We got some waters and then were abandoned for what seemed like half an hour. Turns out there was only one server so I can sympathize. It was also uncomfortably hot in there! If they can fix these small issues, this place will be 5 star in my book!

Self absorbed wait staff need to be retrained. Stood at the door with company for lunch Friday. Restaurant is mostly empty. Waitresses were huddling by the bar chatting, never turned around. Stood for 5 — 10 min, never got sat in the mostly empty room. Hire new help or retrain the staff please.

I went in for lunch while stopping by in town. Their food was absolutely fantastic. I went all out and got dessert as well (lemon four cream crêpe). Their food prices are pretty fair to good for French restaurants. The wine prices seemed maybe a bit steep per glass. My waitress was awesome at her job and very friendly. Also had nice clean décor and good music playing. I will be back in the future.

I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. One occasion in particular, I went for a business lunch. The individual I was with recommended I order Poulet à l’ Estragon (which I don’t think is on the menu– request only). It was chicken with some sort of crust and sauce with mushrooms. HELLLLO! I don’t even like mushrooms and I ate every single one. Seriously, it was delicious. It was served with fresh veggies and rice. I don’t know how they steam their veggies, but I could literally eat those carrots as a meal alone they were so good. Service was great, our waitress was super friendly. Great place to eat lunch and dinner. I wish Café Jean Pierre wasn’t so hidden — I bet more people would go if the location was more apparent.

This is bar none my favorite French restaurant in town, and we have maybe five or so at any one time.
The setting is convenient, on the back side of Chama Brewing in front of Century 16 Theater off I-​25 near Jefferson.
Tables are too close, but isn’t that the way of it in a French street café? LOL.
Servers are knowledgeable, formal, friendly, and accommodating.
Food is classic, prepared with care, presented well, and always hot as appropriate. I have had fish or seafood most often, and they do excel at it, but the beef dishes are less frequently added to the menu, but are even more stellar. The sauces are the measure of their greatness.
Save room for dessert. Although they tout the crepes, choose the meringues, and you’ll thank me.
The chef is the owner, and it shows. He loves his job and his customers.

Good-​quality great-​tasting food, great service. Will come back.

This is a cute café located in a strip mall with wonderful food and nice ambiance.
We didn’t feel like having Mexican food and we knew we made the right choice when we ordered the appetizer, which was a decadent chilled cream soup. Our main dish was the sole special and it was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had; as a result, we came back to have the same dish two nights in a row. Crepes are one of my top five favorite desserts, and theirs definitely did not disappoint.
They didn’t rush us out the door and the wait staff was courteous and helpful in describing the dishes.

I don’t remember if I’ve ever rated the restaurant 5 stars before. All I can say is this is just a little spot of heaven in a dry desert in southwest New Mexico.

I really enjoyed this place. The exceptional service, food, ambiance, our waiter, the table, wine & company of course!
What I liked was when the place was clearing out the waiter still hadn’t brought the check. My date called him over & asked to which the waiter said «I only bring the check when asked.» Like wow, a tip so basic but needed to be practiced much more I believe!
This place is authentic traditional French cuisine & I highly suggest any of their seafood dishes such as the mussels in cream… Bön Appetit!

I don’t give many 5 stars but this café is PHENOMENAL! I ordered the Sole Panee with creamy lemon sauce and capers. It was served with a side of veggies. The sauce was rich and so flavorful… TO DIE FOR!!! The I had the La Crêpe a la Banane (banana, chocolate sauce, and chantilly… I added Nutella.) This crêpe was huge and made to perfection!
Next time I’m in town, this will be my 1^st stop!

Okay, I should just come right out with this: I fear the French. It’s an unusual admittance from an American and that’s probably why I haven’t muttered it ever before, but there ya go. I’m sure it has everything to do with an experience I had in my early 20’s in Provence, a lone bike ride through the mountains and towns, it was a mountain bike and I was an American who tried but could not begin to complete a sentence of the language and I found myself in a tiny village as the sun was setting and the people, they looked disgusted with me. I was a long way from the hostel and I was hungry and tired of struggling to do the simple things, like find a pay phone or hail a taxi, memories like this erect barriers.
This is not to say that I fear French cuisine, it’s precisely the opposite. I dearly love the magnificent, delicate simplicity of crepes, fresh fish and mussels, butter — oh how they coddle and praise butter. But I’m intimidated placing my order. Great French restaurants hire, well, french-​speaking wait staff and usually said employees are indeed from France. And let’s be honest, typically they act like natives:
«I’ll try the crep day sawmon fume… aux pomes, please.»
Awkward glance from both parties.
«Ze Crêpe de Saumon Fumé aux Pommes, oui.» Nose decidedly turned to the sky.
I only got a little of that attitude when I visited Café Jean Pierre and I otherwise completely indulged in some of the finest crab, steak, and French onion soup in the city. Fabulous food. And what an amazing place to find in that franchise sea. I’ve decided I can come here to start my recovery from frogphobia, and perhaps, one day, return to Provence. That place is unfuckingbelievable.

This place is legit French food. Delicous as well as delicate and sophisticated at the same time. «Is that even possible?», you may ask. Well… yes…it is. and Café Jean Pierre makes it look effortless :). The bread that we received before the meal was fresh baked. We had the escargot. They were sauteed in butter with parsley. They were served sizzling at our table. MMMMM. The mussels are divine. They came with this creamy garlicky sauce that was finger lickin’ good. They also came with some delicious, well flavored shoestring fries. My hub had chicken breaded marsala. You could tell the breading was homemade. It was so flavorful and served with a side of steamed veggies. Overall, a perfect dining experience.
Make sure you ask for Pascal. He was so much fun and a great waiter! :)
