Agree with all the reviews on here. We love Barron and his team. Punctual, helpful and a pleasure to work with. His team was efficient, clean and responsive to our questions and concerns. Even after our Hvac was installed, the city noticed that the wrong electrical gauge was installed. Not only did Barron reach out to our electrician directly, he promptly came that weekend on a Sunday to redo the entire panel wiring. Hardworking and great with client servicing, every company should learn a thing or two about how to keep a small business up and running effectively from these guys!

I very rarely write reviews on Unilocal,but I am so satisfied with the work and customer service of Barron/​BMC Mechanical, I wanted to post a review. Barron and his team installed a new furnace for us over a year ago. They were extremely fast and professional, and Barron did a great job of walking me through all the work he did. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality. To top it off (and why I’m writing this review) – he came to the house over a year after the work was completed to do a repair on the furnace. He charged nothing for the work, even though the damage was completely our fault. I highly recommend Barron and his team.

We recently had out ducting removed due to asbestos and needed it replaced. Barron and his team did an amazing job. They were quick and professional and it’s so nice to have heat again in our house right before everyone came for thanksgiving. We have an old house with very tight crawlspaces and they did a great job. He also helped us pick out a new furnace since ours was improperly sized and old.
Him and his team were not only very professional, but they were all nice guys and they did a wonderful job. They were originally supposed to start work on a Monday but he had some time the Saturday before and called to see if we wanted him to start sooner (which we did). The prices were fair, he had all of his licenses etc. for us and it was nice to work with someone that was so organized (paperwork wise).
We would highly recommend him.

It’s rare that one is fully satisfied with a home service but Barron is a unique professional: He shows up on time, gets it done, and gets out. And, he makes sure it works. Along the way, he might go out of his way to go a little further. In my case, he came over after hours and helped us hook up our new washer and dryer. My wife and I, as hapless first-​time homebuyers, had neither the skill nor wits to hook it up ourselves. We were glad to do our 15 loads of laundry… Thanks Barron!

Need a new furnace or water heater? Hoping for a good price and excellent workmanship? Look no further! Barron McEwing of BMC Mechanical offers outstanding service, is prompt and courteous, his prices cannot be beat, and just hands down knows his stuff. He works quickly and efficiently without cutting corners and is a pleasure to interact with. I have used him to replace my water heater, install an auto-​gas shut off (for earthquake safety), and repair furnace ductwork. Additionally I have referred him to several people who are all raving fans as well. I have yet to find any HVAC contractor who can beat his prices and service — he’s simply the best.

Our home inspector recommended Barron who gave us a bid to replace the 35 year old furnace in our new home. At first, we thought about using a bigger name like Atlas, but Atlas didn’t even bother replying to our emailed inquiry.
On the other hand, every time we asked Barron a question, his replies were succinct and well-​explained. (Just make sure to talk to Barron instead of emailing — his answers are much better verbally than written). He came in, installed everything and was done about four hours earlier than anticipated.

I am a professional Home Inspector who has been referring Barron McEwing for years. Because I am a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors, I may not collect referral fees or do anything that can be considered a «Conflict of Interest». The reason I recommend Barron is because I’ve inspected thousands of furnace installations found that Barron does it very well. I feel that large HVAC companies exploit what I consider a clerical error in the mechanical code and do not install proper vents. I believe this a corner cutting measure to appear less expensive (…and they offer false confidence by telling clients, «…its to code»). I have found Barron’s installation with proper venting and his pricing is extremely competitive and often less expensive than the sub standard competing proposals. I also find that he properly seals ducts with proper strapping and listed tapes which I usually find overlooked on new installations. I have referred Barron to personal friends who reported that Barron was very responsive when requesting service. What also nice about BMC Mechanical is that Barron or his partner who evaluates and bids the job are the same people who install the furnace. Some larger companies will have a sales person make the sell and then somebody else completely show up. Barron is the type of service provider that I can refer who makes me look good.

I replied through Unilocal to the owner’s review offering to show him the invoice from the work performed, and allowing him back to the property to see the place again and received no response. Lowering to one star. He is clearly trying to discredit me with his responses, and brush me off. I can assure you all I do not post reviews often and do not take this review lightly, this is a very serious matter to me. I feel very strongly that my sentiments are on point and I can guarantee this was poor workmanship that we will have to pay thousands to remedy.

I asked my Realtor friend for a referral for some one to install a new central furnace in my house and I found Barron. I gave him the key to my house and went to work. He did the whole job in one day. Also put in smoke/​carbon monoxide detectors and a service light. My house and garage were cleaner when he left. He really loves dogs. His quote was accurate. Also, after giving me a quote I had to save up for almost two months before I was ready to move forward and when I was, I called him and the job was done 3 days later.

I have been a building contractor for thirty years. One of my clients wanted to hire BMC Mechanical as part of a job I was doing on her new house. I protested that I had never worked with him and only liked working with subcontractors with whom I had previous experience, so I could depend on their work. I took the chance with Baron on this job, as her realtor highly vouched for him through her many jobs she had used him on. I soon found out why.
Once he comes on to a job, get out of the way. This man knows his trade, takes great pride in his work, used only the best materials, completed the job very promptly, had a great crew, was on the job working himself, was polite and sarcastic all at once (just like a good subcontractor should be!), and passed inspection on the first try. His work was so impressive and clean, other subs noticed and commented on it as well. That is rare.
When my own furnace suddenly failed, I called on Baron to install the new one I had chosen. It was a very high-​tech model, with a variable speed blower fan and modulating gas valve. Very complicated, very efficient, very quiet. Baron and his crew were simply superb. They were caring, accomodating, fast, friendly, and clean. The work was immaculate, as usual, and the furnace is so quiet, i cannot hear it when it is on! That was my goal.
Baron is simply the best. His prices are very good and his work as good as it gets. I can depend on him doing the best techniques, knowing the latest codes, and seeing the job through without delay. He is now my favorite and only furnance subcontractor. You are very lucky if Baron and the boys, Richard and Jeff, install your furnace. Hire this man as soon as you can. He is very trustworthy in my opinion. I am one happy general contractor. Baron had made me look good on my jobs, and now I feel good and warm in my quiet home. Saying, «Thank you, Baron» is not enough, so I am writing this review to express my thanks and pride. He simply has all the traits you would want in a furnace guy. Well, except that it takes alot to get him to stop working and have lunch with you.

When you’re reading reviews of all these home service providers, are you super-​skeptical like me, and wondering if they’re all really written by their friends and fellow small business owners? Well I’m a real Unilocaler, just count the reviews, and I’m here to say, Barron is the real deal. He was referred to me by my realtor and came out on the same day I called when our furnace burner wouldn’t ignite. Turns out our thermostat just needed a new battery… and he didn’t charge us for the visit. Really, really nice guy. Thanks, Barron!

Barron installed the heat in a home we were renting last winter and did it in less time than expected, and the furnace and installation was top notch. He did such a great job that we just hired him to do the same job in the home we bought this year. If I ever buy a third home that needs heating, I’d hire him again for that as well. Excellent work, great price, good guy.

We needed our furnace replaced, and Barron was recommended to us by friends who had recently hired him for a similar project in their house. Barron and his crew were great — they showed up on time, in a good mood, and got to work immediately, letting us know ahead of time what to expect in terms of noise, dust, etc. Barron gave us good advice on where to add the extra vents for best effect and least impact on floor space consumption. And at the end of the day, he even helped us with a little extra project we’d been meaning to do for ages (rerouting the dryer vent). The cost was very reasonable too.

Barron (the owner) came in almost 25% lower than my expected estimate for replacing the furnace in our new home. Not only did he replace the furnace with a brand new super energy efficient model as well as the thermostat and all the duct work, he did so with obvious pride in his craft. He also installed a motion-​sensitive gas shutoff valve, charging me only for the parts. He even noticed the washer and gas dryer were not hooked up and did that for free. He came out over the weekend so he could get it done before we moved in, and he finished early. I would recommend him without question to anyone who needs his services. I even asked him for a list of references for other work we need done to our house, hoping he’s part of some magical guild of super craftsmen

I agree with everyone who posted here. Barron replaced a floor furnace with a new system and did everything he said he would at the cost he quoted and did it quickly and cleanly. A year later when I tried to screw it up by closing all the vents and failing to replace the filters, he came out, spent an hour checking everything out, explained what I did, and did not charge me for it when I tried to pay. I would highly recommend him.

We bought 100 year old Berkeley house a year and a half ago and needed to have the dead floor furnace replaced before we could close the sale. Barron went over all of our furnace options, and helped us choose where to place vents to best heat our drafty old house. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. He also made sure that we had everything we needed to take advantage of federal and PG&E rebates.
Last night our thermostat stopped working. We called him in the morning and he came out the same day to replace the thermostat. While he was here he checked the furnace and ducts to make sure everything was working properly.
We’ve had a number of contractors out to work on our house in the last 18 months, and Barron is by far the best.

The truly unheard of: he finished early! He was also there exactly when we needed him, charged us exactly what he said he would, and was friendly and helpful throughout! I highly recommend!
