The annual Park Street Spring Festival is a Mother’s Day weekend tradition in Alameda and the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 150 vendors, this is a perfect place to find a gift for Mom. Or maybe you would like to treat Mom to a mimosa and lunch at one of the street’s food establishments. Located on Park Street between Encinal Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, weekend activities include art & craft vendors, live music, kids’ area, food vendors, and beer & wine sales. There is sure to be something for everyone.

Festival-​goers can also stroll along Alameda’s vibrant and historic commercial district where shops and restaurants will be offering weekend specials.

A special area for kids and their families on Alameda Avenue features bounce houses, giant slide, slot cars, face painting, and WaterBallerz.

Each day offers continuous live entertainment with popular Bay Area bands performing classic rock, bluegrass, funk, jazz, and soul.

History

Established in 2001.

The Park Street Spring Festival has been a favorite for over 12 years. Located in the East Bay, near Oakland and only 20 minutes from San Francisco, the Park Street Business District is the island city’s vibrant historic commercial, cultural, and civic center. More than 400 businesses are located in the shopping district and include a variety of restaurants, gift stores, clothing stores, professional services, and amusement centers including the historic Alameda Theatre & Cineplex. The Park Street Spring Festival takes place each year during the second weekend of May (Mother’s Day weekend).

This is my second Alameda Park Street Spring Fair. I love it. They close Park Street for two days and vendors sell their products. You can get food, hand crafted products, home services and a kids area. A lot of people come from the community and from the surrounding area. The event is family friendly you should visit if you are in town.

With the beautiful weather on Sunday, we decided to check out the Park Street Spring Festival. The festival consisted of arts and craft vendors, food and drink vendors, and a kiddie section including petting zoo and climbing wall and music stages at the opposite end of the festival.
The atmosphere was very family and dog oriented. Lots of parents and their kids and people with their dogs strolling the length of the festival from Encinal to Lincoln Aves.
Nice festival comparable to the Park St. Fair in August. It’s great in that not only you get to check out the festival, you have the opportunity to check out the stores and restaurants on Park St as well.

I thought it was going to take forever to write my 400th review. Every 100 reviews I reflect back to see where I have been and how I have enjoyed the ride. These milestones are similar to receiving an Elite badge. But for this 100th review, instead of reviewing a food or service I’m going to review an event. Tada… Alameda Park Street Spring Festival.
In the spring the city of Alameda has a Spring Festival where the main street Park Street is closed off right in time for Mother’s day. Usually I’ll go grab a beer glass from the vendor ($ 5.00) right before lunchtime and walk around see what I can find my mom. I noticed alot of people have the same idea. This year I was able to find my mom one of those magnetic bracelets –magic healing powers and some very nice flowers. My girlfriend found these garlic grinders that mince the garlic so you don’t have the garlic smell on your fingers. She purchased seven of them for gifts.
For eats I usually can’t stay away from the kettle corn, it goes great with the beer. I buy a medium size bag that will last most of the day. Same food vendors set up their food tents. Last year I had an $ 8.00 Italian sausage, I was so stuffed I could not eat the kettle corn. This year I decided not to do that again. I noticed the vendors selling hot dogs & corn dogs, teriyaki, falafels, Philly cheese-​steaks and the Lockeford sausage stand. Lots to choose from.
Later on I was looking for a cookie, brownie or bake desserts but I couldn’t find one. Maybe I was eating too much kettle corn.
There is an area set-​up for children– jumpers, games, a petting zoo, slot cars but this year I noticed they had these inflatable balls approx. 6 ft in diameter and the children would go inside, zip them up and they could roll around in them in a large inflatable swimming pool. 6 to 8 children at a time. Sounds fun.
For live entertainment there are usually two stages for music. One of the favorites is the Santana band but there is a good variety from Blues, jazz, salsa, soul and rock. I have noticed some folks getting their groove on when the right song is played. Or when the drinks kick in…

I just can’t seem to muster this event up to a 4 star. It is still a 3.5 star. Again, the weather was beautiful and warm for that stroll up and down Park Street. My husband and I felt that there were less vendors this year compared to last year.
We stopped at a few. One vendor had beef jerky ($ 20 for an 8 oz. bag — pricey IMO — but I wasn’t paying for it) and gourmet oven baked corn ($ 5) in cinnamon, caramel, buttered and garlic flavors. Husband went ahead and paid for the two items… just like that $ 25 spent.
Rosenblum Cellars was handing out packets of spice rub (great for grilling) and a card good for 2 for 1 reserve tasting or wine by the glass.
The same vendors were here again, selling their street food — Lockford sausages, funnel cakes, fried calamari, fruit smoothies corn dogs, tamales, lemonade, etc. My husband wanted a Philly cheesesteak sandwich ($ 10) and I settled for a bavlava ($ 5). The sandwich looked pretty tasty, but it wasn’t all that great… hubby claimed he had better. The bavlava was just okay… nothing to write home about. The Killer Brownie Company was there selling their brownies. I didn’t buy any brownies this year — just sampled the peanut butter chip flavored brownie.
The only vendor that I really enjoyed was To Herb With Love — a local vendor selling many wonderful products to women — jewelry, bath salts, sunglasses and tote bags.
There was plenty of activities for kids — face painting, crafts and even a huge inflated pool filled with water and big bubbles for kids to get in and bounce around for probably about 10 minutes… at a price of $ 8.00.
Final pitstop before heading to Southshore: Peet’s for my hibiscus breeze.

I’m a little late writing this review. But better late than never. I love this festival. Not only is it close to home, but the 51A runs right down Santa Clara Avenue in the middle of the festival. You can catch that line at Fruitvale BART station and it is not even a 10 minute run.
The Good: Lockeford Sausages. They are delicious and plentyful. Gotta be careful about describing sausage. Can get a little racy. Stuff for little ones to do, plenty of food and the best part of this day was that being Mommies Weekend, I got to spend time with my middle son and we had a blast ducking into the antiques store. I never knew he was into this stuff. The music is really good.
The Bad: Although dog friendly, owners need some help and should use better judgement. Bringing dogs to a festival is a crazy thing. They smell the food, so much commotion going on, people not seeing the little dogs, big dogs knocking into vendor’s displays, snapping at each other. Who brings pitt bulls to a festival?
Perhaps a temp kennel so owners can enjoy the festival for an hour or 90 minutes and others don’t have to jump around a steamy pile of… you-​know-​what.

Weather was wonderful. Took my mother here for Mother’s Day and bought beers for everyone. Loved the beer glasses you get as you stroll around, fried calamari in hand. The festival is dog and family friendly and gives you the chance to check out local businesses. Gotta love Alameda

Went here on Mother’s Day with my toddler & husband. We had a great time! I enjoyed seeing all the creative vendors selling their goods & food. I am always amazed at people’s creativity. The kid area was so much fun for my 3.5 year old. He especially liked the race cars & the big bounce house. He could have stayed in it all day. The bands performing on stage were really talented & enjoyable to listen to as we ate lunch.
My only complaint is that I would have liked more tables & chairs to sit at for lunch. They were all packed & people weren’t moving. I was so uncomfortable (I’m 9 months pregnant) sitting on the filthy street (in white pants) fighting away people’s dogs (that were after my teriyaki skewer which was tasty by the way). Overall, we had a great family outting for Mom’s Day.

I’m not really the type to buy unnecessary stuff at this type of event. I go for the food and atmosphere, am I the only Unilocaler that thinks the music. for a street fair. isn’t half bad? I’ve always liked Alameda and I guess I was just in the mood for a good time. I never saw the red couch. But I did like Nique’s checkin a couple of minutes before mine. Looking forward to the Art and Wine Festival in a couple months.

This weekend we stumbled along the Park Street Spring Festival in Alameda, CA. I took my two daughters, husband and my niece. I love the feeling of walking down the street in the warm weather. Parking was easy to find (on the street)! It was very family feeling, lots of kids. It was also dog friendly. In all the vibe was nice and friendly.
The best part was the petting zoo. My youngest daughter had never seen some of the animals and she went crazy looking at them. We had fun pointing out the different animals to her.
We even went into a few stores and shopped around. We got to see the venders and looked at all the stuff they had to sell.
We even drop by the Unilocal Booth…

This was bunches of fun! A lot of things to buy and eat! Too bad i had lunch before coming here. It’s fun to get samples and try new stuff! it was super crowded, but that’s always expected. My allergies were KILLINGGGG ME. so it might have been much more enjoyable if it wasn’t for that… the food is expensive as it is at every fair. the cool thing was that if you don’t feel like paying 5 dollars for some chicken on a stick, you can go to one of the resturants on Park Street. I went and got Quickly!. and then Tucker’s. hehehe. yum!
there was also a petting zoo for kids! and gigantic jumpers that I wish i had during my 5th birthday… lol
I look forward to next years event!

Like most of the street fairs that I go to there was a nice array of things to buy, food to eat and community groups to chat with. But, for me, what makes this fair a notch above the others is that it is on Park Street. I find the street charming because it is filled with small business rather than chains; it has an old-​fashion small town feel, with very modern businesses and restaurants.

I learned about this event through the emails I get for SF/​Bay Area activities on the cheap. Being I was on my own this weekend (and had some business to attend to in Oakland) I decided to head over here.
As far as the variety and quality of art, it was somewhere between a 3 and 4. Nice soap, jewelry and photography, although nothing that really jumped out at me. There were some artists that I recognized from last years Lafayette and Mountain View Art Festivals, who were nice to see again.
Overall it was a friendly, relaxing event. I didn’t partake in any of the food, but it seemed a lot of others were. I found free parking several blocks down Lincoln.
I had never browsed Park Street before, so in addition to the art, it was fun to pop in and out of some of the shops.
Check it out next year if you’re in the area!

Love this fair! It reminds me of the art and wine fest they have coming up… Lots of fair food to those from which I love!!! They had a santana cover band which I liked alot. I also like how most restaurants had outdoor bars or food being served… Nice and smart idea guys. Many of the boutiques also had sales going on that wknd such as (Sway, district, etc)… OhhhhI hope habana has mojitos outside for the art and wine!!! Looking forward to the next one!

Park street spring festival was a mix of paintings, metal arts, homecrafts, clothes, sushi maki kits, soaps, brownies, massages, p, g &e, law enforcement agencies and overpriced street food (no doubt to offset the $$$ paid to establish a food stand: insurance, health permits, concession fee).
most food vendors were from way out of town, in fact out of the county. somewhat pricey for sausage (6 – 8), corn dogs (3.5−4) lemonade (4) tamele.(4)

Had a blast here today with my family and some friends. We parked in the Civic Center Garage — wow $.50 per hour. Try to find that in SF!
Good mix of vendors and food. We feasted on corn dogs, huge sausages, roasted corn, garlic crab fries (yes you read that right! — fries with crab on it), calamari, carne asada tacos, curly fries, bubble milk tea, limade and strawberry lemonade… whew! All we did was eat!
And we saw some good art vendors, the various knick knacks and other fun stuff. It wasn’t too crowded and I love all the other stores on Park Street that were open serving food and drinks also. It was fun. My son had a blast racing the mini-​track (it was like a remote control car) and playing in the small kid zone. People were really nice and friendly. Really enjoyable saturday afternoon.

What a wonderful festival, especially on Mother’s Day weekend. Mom and I were in the area yesterday, and just happen to stumbled upon this gem of a festival. This annual festival covered about 8 blocks, with lots of fun for all ages. Kids activities included a bounce house and climbing wall. For the adults, there was live music on a couple of different stages, and of course, booze!
There were many great food and drink vendors serving delish and tasty treats like churros, garlic fries, ginormous sausages, and of course, beer and wine.

A festival would not be complete without local artists selling their creations from homemade jams to olive oil, jewelry, and clothing, etc., Mom and I bought some beverages and kettle korn (Oh Mylanta, as I’m a popcorn freak) and enjoyed listening to this duo perform.
This was a perfect way to spend Mother’s Day with my Mom. It was supposed to rain yesterday, but it didn’t, as the sun was shining.
. Everyone was in fantastic spirits, and even the owners of these puppies allowed people to take pics of their babies.

Didn’t think I could heart Alameda more than I already do, but I do now. Cheers and can’t wait for next year (the 11th annual and counting)!
