They were very helpful when I needed the traction control fixed on my car for the next day. They were very nice and explained what the problem was. I will definitely come back if I have other auto problems. Very affordable

This guys are serious jerks.
I gave them my car cause the engine was shuttering. They charged $ 80 for diagnosis, which I’m completely ok with, even though all they did was plug in an OBD2 tool to check what the engine was saying.
They determined its the ignition coil and a spark plug. The wanted to charge me $ 400, and I asked, «why so much?».
«Its 260 for labor.»
I asked, «Why is it 260 for labor? Its a really easy job to replace the ignition coil, isnt it?»
«Ya the labor is cheap, but we had to find out what was wrong with it»
Um… what? They wanted to charge me $ 260 instead of $ 80 to figure out whats wrong with it.
An ignition coil and spark plug job doesn’t cost $ 400!
The absolute most you should pay is $ 200.

Took my 2008 Passat here for a tune up and she is driving like new! Luis is an honest mechanic and I trust his work. Be sure to make an appointment and confirm when you need your vehicle back by-it’s a busy shop.

Brought my Jeep in for repair, they changed the radiator, idler arm, water pump and serpentine belt. Within a week it started to squeak loudly, took it back but they said they were too busy. Went twice, always told to bring it back. My time is valuable and I don’t have time for this
Took it to another shop where they found the serpentine belt was the wrong size, cost me $ 102.00. Stay away, there are better shops

I have been wanting to find a mechanic in Alameda that I can trust.
I saw on Unilocal that they had good reviews, and lived near my neighborhood. So I gave them a try.
I needed new parts for my brakes. They are straight forward with the car issues, no up-​selling as I have experienced a lot in this industry, and competitive prices.
Friendly staff. Overall a great experience. Thank you for your service, I”l be back with my next car maintenance/​issue next time.

Great service and friendly workers!
I needed an oil change, and I was able to drop my car off here and pick it up about an hour and a half later. I also asked how to put windshield wipers on since I just bought some new ones from costco, and they offered to put them on free of charge!
Unfortunately, I ended up buying the wrong ones including wrong size *facepalm* so I just purchased the ones that they had there and was good to go.
Will definitely be back for all other car services!

What a great shop. I was 5 hours late (due to work) to my scheduled appointment and Robert still managed to get all my tires replaced in a short period of time without sacrificing quality. It makes me happy to give these guys five stars. If I could give more, I would. My husband, myself and my in-​laws have used Alameda Auto Lab for a couple decades now. We are always pleased with their work. They have always taken great care of our cars. Robert and Louis are almost like family members to us because they help keep us safe. My husband and I have recently moved to San Francisco and just brought our car back across the Bay for service. Thank you Robert and Louis for taking good care of us. I was too lazy to try and change the burnt out bulb on my headlight. I tried… But, I couldn’t find a way to get the bulb out since it was packed in there with no space around it. So, I decided to keep the money local. Glad I did. I brought my car I with no appointment and it looked like they were cleaning up for closing time. BUT, they took me in. I thought I’d encounter that iffy service since they looked like they wanted to go home. BUT, I chatted it up with the owner/​manager, I should have bothered to get his name… They saw I was a local and kept my work local… Gotta love that local love… Clean, efficient service AND he charged my less that what he quoted earlier… I’ll be goin here from now on…

These guys are miracle workers. Fair. Honest. Fast. And affordable. I’ve have been taking my cars here for the past six years. On two separate occasions they have brought my cars back from the dead — and on a budget. They have taken situations where I was thinking «this car is beyond salvaging and I should just donate it,» and they have been able to get my vehicle back on the road and running great — at a price that made the car well worth keeping.

Tried to get me for a new sensor. Total was $ 500+. $ 250 for the part $ 270 for labor. Online the part is $ 90… its 2 screws to remove the tps sensor that was next to the airbox… ill pass

Back from Alameda Auto Lab after fixing an oil leak, replacing the front steering rack and my engine belts. Invoice came in below the estimate (which was already lower than someone else’s), and several hours earlier that estimated as well. I also appreciate that they support local kids’ organizations here in Alameda.

Don’t go here… they’re a bunch of shysters. I had my car in for A/​C testing last July, and then had my regular mechanic do the work. Then when there was still a leak problem six months later, I brought it back to Alameda Auto Lab for diagnosis. They insisted that pretty much the whole A/​C system needed to be replaced (which is what my mechanic replaced six months prior), and that there were «two large holes» in the system. They quoted me $ 1,200.
I took it to a shop in San Leandro, who did the dye test at no charge. They ended up replacing the charge valves for about $ 160, and that fixed it. Funny how they never found those «two large holes» that Alameda Auto Lab insisted were there.

I used to take my car here because of the positive reviews and proximity to work. My last experience however completely ruined my trust in the business. I took it in to get my brakes checked, and was told that I needed new pads and rotors resurfaced. After I picked up the car and paid for the service, which was expensive for a brake job, I continued to hear noises. I thought I was paranoid, but took the car in another shop for a second opinion anyway. I was surprised to learn that the rotors were clearly un-​resurfaced and front brakes were almost out. Got the job done, and paid nearly half the price. While experiences will be subjective, I would recommend customers to explore options.
