First Hawaiian Bank

Came here to inquire about shipping our car to another state. Our loan is done through First Hawaiian but we definitely don’t bank here. Anyway, for services, they make you sign a wait list sheet but that didn’t really matter since some random guy went up to the representative’s desk and she started helping him before us. All I’m saying is why have a sign in sheet if you’re not going to honor it? What’s even more annoying? She looked at us before helping him. Whyyyyyy?

They charge for everything and they put atms in every seven 11 and charge 3.50 for a transaction what happened to Aloha. They’re not a bank they’re the the milkman.

Thanks for catching the unauthorized credit card charges made in California! One phone call my credit card was cancelled, new one ordered and the unauthorized charges credited. And thanks for opening on Saturday!

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I’ve been a customer for about 7 years and have been frequenting the Mililani branch for the first five years. The Mililani branch is outstanding and I’ve never had any problems. This branch in Aiea is terrible. The customer service here is absolute, for lack of better words, crap. I have only met two tellers in two years that actually had a friendly attitude. Today was the last straw. I wanted to inquire about a loan and waited patiently for 45mins. I noticed the girl walk up to sign in sheet and took a customer thar came in 30 mins after I did. I decided to look at the sign in sheet only to find my name crossed off the list.
Great company, terrible branch. Avoid at all cost.

If I were to rate only the staff, it would be 5 stars. I have been banking with FHB for over a decade. This branch is by far the best in customer service. The tellers are friendly and nice. Kayla is the best of them all, followed by Karen then Greg.
I give 3 stars because the bank didn’t take care of the facility or its employees or stay up with technology. For example, I remember that the AC on the place went out more then 5 times in the past year (over the span of a couple months). They would repair it then it would break again. As customer, it was very hot inside even with all the fans, so I cannot imagine how the employees must have felt being in there all day. After the third time of it going down, they should have replaced the unit already. Then, I have an issue with the last Federal Holiday. I thought that banks were supposed to be closed on a Federal Holiday but they were open. As customer that is great, but you need to think about your employees. Not having to work on Federal holidays is expected from a financial institution (if the stock market has a holiday, so do the banks).
The last issue is technology. FHB is so far behind other financial institutions, it isn’t funny. Of my 4 banks that I deal with, they are the only one not currently supporting Apple Pay, the only one whose app doesn’t utilize the fingerprint reader on the phones and the only one that I have yet to receive my new credit card with the new embedded chip. As Hawaii’s largest financial institution, I would expect more from them. I expect them to stay current with technology (because it is to the benefit of the customer). I am still contemplating switching to BOH as my primary bank instead.

Customer service reps are not too swift. I made an ATM transaction for $ 100 at the FHB, Aiea, where I have my checking account. As I was returning my credit card back to my wallet, my $ 100 was gobbled up by the ATM! I called the customer service number on the ATM and got a person named Heidi. Well, of course, she couldn’t to anything. She said the transaction had to be disputed. DISPUTED, really? What was their to dispute? It happened and it was my CASH withdrawal, and I had the receipt to prove it. I sent an email to FHB and received a voice message for an unknown person, saying that it would take 10 days for the dispute to be reviewed. If approved it would be deposited back to my account. I called today and a supervisor said she would expedite this dispute, so that it would go through possibly by the end of the day, so I’ll give them ONE star. They don’t deserve more than that!

I just opened up an account at this specific branch. Mary was my rep to do all of that, and I can say that she has such a good heart. A delight to converse with and made the whole process an easy one. I can’t tell you how many times I get attitude or brushed off from reps at Chase (being from California). It was just refreshing.
I know banks are kind of the standard to impersonal business, but the one on one is the silver lining. This won’t be my home branch as there is one closer to me but Mary really stood out as someone I wanted to commend.

On top of that I wasn’t if that was the supervisor over looking her but they both were so busy trying to get my payment in and normally when I go other banks they fill it in for me. But no she made me fill it out for her.
In the end no apology for taking long or no communication to me that she don’t know what the heck she was doing. If they would of informed me then I would of been okay or if they would of had a sign I would of went to a different teller instead!
Bad experience will be only going to the one in town since they are fast, friendly and communicate well with me.
2 stars for her friendly greeting in the beginning then it just dropped right there.

Not a fan at all of First Hawaiian Bank!!! They should have better trained people who handle customers financial affairs. NEVER going back for sure… they should be upfront with all details BEFORE you use their services… waste of time.

Everyone is always smiling, willing to talk story, and friendly. I’d give the staff 5 stars if I could.
Regardless of how many tellers there are, there’s always a long line though. Parking is a mess too — the entry and exit to the underground lot has to be one of the most poorly designed entryways. Wonder if this is FHB or an issue with Pearlridge?

So, I had to do some kind of direct deposit for a bike loan a long time ago coz I just made a Unilocal account just now and the teller that helped me made me do the run-​arounds! So, I listened and went to ASB coz that’s where my main bank is. The teller at ASB told me to go back to FHB. At this point I’m confused. So I go back to FHB and thank god, I got a better teller that was very efficient and very helpful to me ^_​^ I still need to give them a «void» check coz I been procrastinating.
As far as the hours of operation go, I wish they would close at least by 6pm everyday. Coz I get off work at 4pm.

I think they have great service but hours are too short. I think they should open up later like 6 daily & also possibly have one in a store & open until 7 like most banks.
Their office hours is a bit inconvenient.

Really FHB? It is afternoon rush and you only have three tellers available? I been waiting in line for over 35 mins. Hire more tellers possibly?

I enjoy coming to this bank because it’s never busy (or at least when I go). I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait in line. The parking is great, the location is good-​located right next to Pearlridge and Pali Momi, and the tellers are friendly and helpful.

Typical large bank branch, rather cold and impersonal due in part to the space. Seemingly a lot of parking but always seems pretty full. Lines move fairly quickly with efficient and pleasant tellers.

Great parking and access to bank. My first time at this location and I really like the convent parking with stalls fronting the entrance and covered parking below. The tellers were nice and the priority banking line was a quick in & out.

Great bank. Used to be my bank of choice, before leaving for a credit union. Still a good bank with great banking services to meet the needs of hawaii residents. Is still a bank I would consider in the future for my banking needs.

Since dis is my bank, this location is probably the one that I visit the most since it is so close to home. It’s held in a pretty convenient location in Pearlridge right next to the Pali Momi area, Kapiolani Hospital, Sizzler, the mall, etc. The staff and customer service is always good. The busiest times are in the afternoons and sometimes in the weekends on Saturdays where they are open till like about 1PM. It’s good if you are a priority rewards member/​customer because you get to bypass the line and go straight to the priority banking teller and get almost like VIP status. There is parking on the top level where it is the most convenient and also underground garage parking. If it gets too full or too busy you can always park at the mall or next to Sizzler and just walk over. I suggest bringing a pen because like most FHB branches, their pens don’t work. The ATM machine is also right near the entrance for convenience and on the go banking.

So I wrote a review almost two months ago about how I had received very poor customer service from this branch. Been coming back to do actual deposits in the bank instead of just dropping it off in the night box and let me be the first to say that this branch is definitely improving!
I have seen a lot of new tellers working and more people work the front at a time making the line go a lot faster. Little to no wait is a plus for me! The interaction between costumer and worker has improved 100%. I no longer have to see a grumpy and tired face.
And because of the little to no wait in line, parking lot is not as congested!
YES! Leslie and Stephen are still there doing what they do best. Being the nicest people on earth! They will definitely make your trip to the bank worth it! Thanks guys: D
All that needs improving is First Hawaiian’s crappy hours… sorry but their hours on weekdays are kinna lame. But what can you do with America’s economy right? Grrrrrrrrr!
I’m so happy that I get to adjust my review into a happy one… cus I’m happy person. Happy happy joy joy… all day long.
