Hickam Federal Credit Union

I like this branch. It has a front desk where you can check in getting you to the right person you need to talk to. Beats signing in on a sheet of paper waiting for someone to come by and read it and call you over.
They are pretty efficient here trying to get you out as quickly as possible. That’s a good thing. They have some nice offerings for financial options worth considering especially for someone new starting their retirement portfolio. There are many advantages to having a credit union account too.
It’s nice being located in the Pearl Ridge Center, Phase I. I park upstairs which can be easier to find parking there than below. It’s then an easy walk taking the escalator down 1 floor.
The customer service is not bad but it’s not great. Depending who you have to deal with, especially when you need something not of the ordinary, service gets stiff. Is it because they do not have the goals other banks try to reach monthly, annually? Is it because it caters to many military they feel the lack to do so? Is it may be they feel their products are far superior and need not say anything, let the products speak for themselves?
The advantages keep me now but I really don’t know if I want to stay. I will be taking a harder look at some of their investment options and see what they can provide. An update for sure.

In all the years that I have banked with Hickam FCU, I have never received anything but friendly and great customer service. I was in need of a wire transfer and after speaking with 3 different representatives of the financial institution, I physically walked in to the Pearlridge branch. The teller that helped me was great and helped me sort out the mixed information I received about my wire transfer. Furthermore, she assisted me with the correct process of the transfer and completed the transaction within 15 minutes.
Since I had my teenage daughter with me, I decided to convert her HUTMA account into a checking account, joint between the two of us, in hopes that this would give her an opportunity to budget or learn to budget her funds. I was directed to the Member Relations Officer. Hmm… when you see «Member Relations Officer» one would assume that this person is responsible for creating, maintaning, and promoting positive relationships between members and staff. Quite the contrary… the title did not match the service I received. I personally fltl like I was bothering this employee. Needing a wire transfer and opening another account for my daughter, I thought the credit union would appreciate the business. However, I’m made to feel otherwise. The 3 stars rating is being saved by the teller who did provide me with great customer service.
The experience was so painful and uncomfortable, I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Would this prevent me from doing any further business with Hickam FCU? Probably not… I just hope I get the service I have always received in the past, excluding this one.
