Vitruvian Lights – Magical Night Of Lights

I have enjoyed this the past couple of winters. This year wasn’t as good. It seemed they cut back on lights.

Such a beautiful, festive holiday light display! Definitely worth a visit if you live in DFW. So colorful and lots of family photo ops. We just went to check out the display and go for a stroll, but there are quite a few food trucks parked there on weekend nights if you want to make a dinner/​night of it (I’m not sure exactly which days the trucks are there, so you should check the Vitruvian Park website).
What stopped me from giving this pretty experience 5 stars is the lack of stroller/​handicap friendly pathways that are easily accessible to the lower walkways. If you’ve got wheels of any kind, you have to take a circuitous route to get down to the main walkways, and the path you’re on isn’t quite as pretty as the one that people who can take the stairs can walk on.
Parking and traffic were a little nuts, but hey, ’tis the season. Take a deep breath and give yourself plenty of time to get your car parked.

Beautiful evening at the Vitruvian Lights. We arrived around 5:45pm, which was perfect! No crowds and parking was easy to fine. There are many location to take memorable photos with your family and friends. All that was missing was the sound of Christmas music playing in the background.
The crowds tend to arrive around 6:30pm+ As where where getting ready to leave, the traffice was very thick and there was a long line of cars waiting to park. So glad we got there early!

This light show and concert series is a fantastic way to celebrate the Christmas season. They have food trucks, music, Santa, a balloon artist, and many vendors selling gifts. Families pack picnic dinners and blankets and head out for a fun evening. Can’t wait for this season!

One part holiday joy, one part epileptic seizure waiting to happen. Fun times all around.
I’ve heard mixed reports on the number of trees involved; as high as 500 trees apparently, which could very well be possible.
When the lights are up, walking through the park (when it’s not terribly cold) is delightful.

If you’re looking for a great place to create that memorable «holidate» I highly recommend a stroll through the beautifully illuminated park at Vitruvian Plaza during the season. Each tree seems to have an infinite number of lights and it really makes you feel like you’re in a storybook winter wonderland — aside from having now snow, of course — but we’re in Texas, right?
I came with my date later in the evening on a Saturday, so most of the shops had closed and there were no other events going on, but it was still a fun experience. I will definitely keep this on my list to revisit during hours where there’s food stands, live music, and other vendors.
Come here with your special someone, your family, friends, or even the weekend fling. It’s worth a bit of a drive to get here, so plan to come when the events are open. There’s paid and free parking available, and the area isn’t enormous, but it’s a nice size for a beautiful evening stroll.

Terrible. It’s like Charlie’s browns Christmas. Tackiest lights ever. Save taxpayers money!!!

We ran across these magical lights in Addison. This lighting display of trees is one of the most unique and romantic attractions I have experienced in years. The lights are tastefully placed such that not every tree is lit, but rather special attention was given to the spacing and configuration of each one. The trees surround and are embedded in peninsulas of a lagoon. There are walking paths and bridges all around. I believe at certain times there are also live bands and food trucks (but tonight there were none).
Exploring the Vitruvian Lights was a great way to start off a magical new year!

2013 is the second annual Vitruvian Lights, where over 200 trees are wrapped from trunk to tip in millions of colorful LED Christmas lights, all over the area. The lights create a gorgeous scene as they reflect off the water all over the park.
Switching on the lights is a major event. The mayor of Addison flipped the switch and festivities ensued, including live music by Jazz singer Ricki Derek. Addison has made this a great event; food trucks, hot cider and cocoa, wine and beer, and fair-​style fare were all available. Artisan tents were there too where local artists had goods for sale. Vitruvian park is beautiful, with picnic tables and space to lounge.
You can go see the lights anytime between now and Jan 1, and live music will be available on Saturdays; see the website.
It’s a very family friendly event; Santa and Frosty were there, and kids love all the lights and rolling down the amphitheater turf. The park has well-​equipped onsite restrooms, onsite parking, and parking at the nearby Loos Stadium.
